Eve and Suki at odds in EastEnders as Avani's decision leaves a family at war

Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal) is left furious with wife Eve (Heather Peace) in EastEnders next week – when she supports a huge decision from Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James). As viewers know, Avani confided in best mate Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) that she thought she could be pregnant with twisted Joel Marshall's (Max Murray) baby. Her worst fears were realised when a test gave a positive result. Adamant that she wanted an abortion, Suki dropped a huge bombshell and proposed raise the child as her own. This was without addressing the situation with Eve first. Avani made a huge blunder when she assumed that Eve knew, and so the secret was outed. Suki and Eve came to blows in an explosive argument, eventually agreeing to look after the baby and financially support Avani. In episodes that air these week, despite her reluctance, Eve attends the scan with Avani and Suki, but reasoned that they must tell her parents Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) and Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy). In upcoming scenes, Avani begins to struggle with morning sickness and it becomes apartment that it won't be long before others start to realise she's pregnant. When Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) decides to hold a hot tub party, the teen becomes increasingly paranoid about her body image and reaches for a drink, just as Suki and Eve arrive and an argument escalates. Eve chases after her to talk about the situation, and during their heart-to-heart, agrees to support Avani's decision to have an abortion. A move that will devastate Suki. She's unaware that her wife and granddaughter are heading off to a clinic, and after some wise words from Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), she comes clean to Ravi and Priya. More Trending It all kicks off, and the face of the Panesar-Gulati clan could well change forever. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Love Island UK fans 'never been happier' as 2025 winners are crowned

The summer of love has come to an end as Love Island UK season 12 declared its winning couple – Toni and Cach. The finale of the ITV reality dating series took place tonight as the nation voted on their favourite couple out of Harry Cooksley and Shakira Khan, Jamie Rhodes and Yasmin Pettet, Cach Mercer and Toni Laites, and Angel Swift and Ty Isherwood. All four duos, barely exclusive by the final episode, have faced their ups and downs on the Maya Jama-hosted show in their quest to find true love. During the finale the pairs enjoyed a finale dinner in which they all made sweet speeches to one another about the happiness they have found with each other which left some viewers teary-eyed and others 'cringing' at the cheesy display. Coming in fourth place are Angel and Ty who 'can't wait for life on the outside', in third we have Yasmin and Jamie who 'felt the spark' from the first moment they kissed and in second place Harry and Shakira. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. Ultimately, however, Toni and Cach won over the hearts of the nation and join winners past including last year's Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan, Ekin-Su and Davide, and Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea. Fans have plenty of thoughts about the final victors – which also makes Toni the first American winner in a UK season ever. 'I have NEVER been happier for love island winners,' Ab wrote on X. 'And there we have it guys, our 2025 Love island winners TONI AND CACH So well deserved! This was the perfect ending to this season, the trio as our top 3 was all I could ever ask for. This is the first time I'm truly impressed with the British public,' Tima added. ' Elsewhere in the episode we caught up with the Islanders who bid adieu throughout the series and got confirmation that Harrison and Lauren were now exclusive. The chat with Maya spilt plenty of tea with two of the boys – Ben and Tommy – realising they kissed the same woman… at the same event. Love Island has faced scrutiny this season from fans and organisations such as Women's Aid for platforming men exhibiting toxic behaviour, such as contestant Harris Solomon's treatment of Toni and ex-Islander Lauren Wood. In fact, the 2025 season is the second most complained-about series ever to Ofcom, with a staggering 9,000 complaints, largely to do with bullying allegations involving Shakira. More Trending Elsewhere, viewers were left less than impressed by Megan and Dejon getting hot and steamy under the covers. It's not been all smooth sailing for the recently-axed pair, however, with an 'uncomfortable to watch' row between the two prompting fans to call for Dejon's removal. Football club Farnham Town, for whom Harry plays as a midfielder, also came under fire after posting a video of his fellow team players and managers sharing negative commentary on the two women he was involved with on the show – Shakira and Helena Ford. Edinburgh writer wins national competition

A young Edinburgh writer, 12-year-old Charlotte Hennessey, has won first prize in a national writing competition for young people, the Henrietta Branford Writing Competition. The annual competition runs in conjunction with the prestigious Branford Boase Award which recognises a debut children's author and their editor. It was set up in memory of the outstanding children's writer Henrietta Branford and the gifted editor, Wendy Boase, Editorial Director of Walker Books. The competition aims to find and encourage writers of the future, something Henrietta Branford was always keen to do. The award is open to anyone under the age of 19 and every year organisers say there are sackfuls of entries from all over the country. This year, inspired by last year's winner, author Nathanael Lessore (Steady For This, King Of Nothing, What Happens Online) entrants were asked to write a story that would make the judges laugh. Called An Unexpected Fashion Statement Charlotte's story follows an unknown fashion model who suddenly finds herself pushed on to the catwalk to cover for a missing colleague. The poor girl is, in turn, bewildered, embarrassed and humiliated but eventually she escapes and runs through the streets to hide in her apartment. Could it be that the whole incident was a clever publicity stunt? Competition judge Prue Goodwin said: 'This is a great concept and very well written! Charlotte shows real assurance in the writing, and we loved the laughter-in-spite-of-cringing element to the story.' Nathanael Lessore was also hugely impressed by the winning stories. He said: 'Writing funny stories is not easy, but Charlotte came up with a brilliant idea and her passion for storytelling leaps off the page too. Congratulations, Charlotte!' Charlotte's story is available to read on the Branford Boase Award website here. She also won a set of the six books on the shortlist for the 2025 Branford Boase Award signed by their authors.
