Man strangled and decapitated girlfriend before pretending to be her to mum
A man has been jailed for a minimum of 23 years after stabbing his girlfriend to death and decapitating her.
Ewan Methven murdered 21-year-old Phoenix Spencer-Horn at their home in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, in November of last year.
Shortly after the couple ordered a takeaway to be delivered to their flat in Glen Lee, Methven stabbed his girlfriend 20 times, 10 times in the face, before mutilating her body and cutting off her head.
For the weekend after he murdered her he searched for pornography online 170 times, tried to buy cocaine multiple times, drove around in Phoenix's car and texted her mother pretending she was still alive.
Methven pleaded guilty to murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice at the High Court in Glasgow.

On Monday he was jailed for life with a minimum of 23 years for what Judge Lord Matthews called a 'truly dreadful crime'.

Dylan Geddes death: Suspect Brandon Booth appears in court charged with murder
A suspect has appeared in court charged with murder after a 24-year-old man died in Aberdeen. Dylan Geddes was found seriously injured in the city's Pennan Road at about 12.35am on Thursday following a disturbance at a property in nearby Coningham Terrace. Emergency crews attended and transported Mr Geddes to hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Police Scotland said it was treating the death as murder following the results of a post-mortem examination. Brandon Booth, 25, was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and appeared before Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday. The suspect, of Aberdeen, made no plea to the single charge of murder. He was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days. In an earlier statement released through Police Scotland, Mr Geddes' family said: "Dylan was a much-loved son, grandson, brother and nephew. He will be sorely missed every day by all who knew him. "The family is absolutely devastated by what has happened and would like privacy at this difficult time." Detective Inspector James Callander said specially trained officers are continuing to offer support to Mr Geddes' family. He added: "I'd like to thank the local community for their support and reassure them that additional officers remain in the area as part of our enquiries. Anyone with concerns can approach these officers."

The alarm was raised after police received reports of a crash involving a black Skoda Octavia and a grey Aprilia Tuono motorcycle. When they arrived at the scene, a 65-year-old man who was riding the motorbike was found injured. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Cops locked down the road for almost 11 hours to allow collision investigators to conduct inquiries at the scene. It was reopened again at 9.05pm later that day. Police have now launched an investigation into the fatal crash and have said that inquiries are ongoing. And they are appealing for anyone with information about the smash to come forward. Any motorists who were in the area and have dashcam footage have also been urged to speak with officers. A Kia Sorento SUV, Fiat Ducato camper and Toyota Hilux collided on the B9006 at Culloden Moor near Inverness at around 2.10pm. Their condition is unknown, however, the road was closed for three hours after the crash saw debris and parts of the campervan scattered across the carriageway. The Fiat's driver, a man, 41, has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and was expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court sometime today.
