Firefighters battle fast-moving brush fire in Chino Hills
The Euclid Fire was first spotted around 1:45 p.m. along Highway 71 in Chino Hills. As of 4:30 p.m., it had burned approximately 150 acres on both sides of the highway, a Cal Fire spokesperson told KTLA 5 News.
Sky5's Gil Leyvas reported that the blaze was burning through dry brush on the west side of the highway and also thicker vegetation in the area of Prado Regional Park and Chino Creek, just north of the Santa Ana River bed.
Smoke was visible from across Jurupa Valley and the Inland Empire.
Several fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters were assisting ground crews in building containment lines and dousing the fire with water.
Officials closed Highway 71 in both directions at Euclid Avenue. There were no reports of homes threatened or evacuations.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Back-to-back magnitude 3.1 earthquakes strike in Inland Empire
A pair of 3.1 magnitude earthquakes struck in the Inland Empire on Monday morning. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the initial quake hit at 11:28 a.m. with an epicenter about three miles north of Cabazon, near Morongo Resort and Casino. The second quake hit just one minute later in about the same location with the same magnitude. As of Monday morning, no injuries or damages were reported. California State Fair reports boost in attendance for 2025
California State Fair officials say they saw another increase in attendance for this year's edition of the summer tradition. Sunday was the final night of the 17-day run of the fair. Unseasonably cool weather appears to have helped boost the crowds for the final weekend, officials say, with more than 90,000 people coming out to the fair on Saturday alone. In total, officials say they had more than 700,000 guests for the 2025 run of the fair – an increase of around 8 percent from last year. "As we look ahead to 2026, we do so with momentum and gratitude," said Tom Martinez, CEO of California Exposition & State Fair, in a statement. The attendance boost continues the positive trend for the fair, which also saw a 10 percent increase in 2024 despite a long stretch of 100-plus degree heat that year.

Evacuations lifted, Douglas County wildfire contained
DENVER (KDVR) — Firefighters and deputies are on the scene of a wildfire on Sunday night, according to a post on X from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. South Metro Fire, Jackson 105 Fire, Castle Rock Fire and West Douglas Fire Protection are in the area near 2903 Bears Den Drive. The fire crews are working on protecting nearby structures with the fire being in heavy brush and shrub oak. As of 9:27 p.m. on Sunday, four homes have been evacuated, and two and a half acres have burned. The sheriff's office provided an update at 9:46 p.m. that the fire is contained, evacuations are lifted and residents can return home. The office also said that the fire's initial size was overestimated, and it was contained to one acre. DCSO said that crews are making progress in putting the fire out.
