Indian hurdler Yarraji undergoes surgery for ACL tear, doubtful for World Championships 2025
Yarraji, who won gold at the Asian Athletics Championships with a time of 12.96 seconds, had suffered an injury during a training session.
'I'm happy to share that this Friday, I successfully underwent a successful surgery to repair an ACL tear on my right knee with Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, she shared on Instagram.
'The past few weeks have been tough for me, as this injury has stopped me from doing what I love the most,' said Yarraji, who is now unlikely to feature in the World Championships later this year.
She remained in contention for a spot in the Worlds via ranking despite falling short of the automatic qualification mark of 12.73.
Currently ranked 12th among athletes eligible through the ranking quota, she would have needed to compete in more events before the August 24 deadline to maintain her position.

He logged his winning jump of 8.05m in his fourth attempt at the Savitribai Phule University Sports Complex. The 26-year-old began with 7.84m and improved further to 7.99m before he breached the 8m mark. The World Athletics Championships 2025 qualification mark stands at 8.27m. This was Murali Sreeshankar's first competitive outing since winning a silver medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, the People's Republic of China, almost two years ago. Iran qualifies for Women's AFC Asian Cup 2026, follows India, Bangladesh into the finals
Iran has booked the final ticket to the women's Asian Cup, beating Jordan 2-1 with the cast now set for the 2026 tournament in Australia.
