Teen gets grounded by parents; what his friends did next had a US reporter turn it into funny news segment

Indian Express3 hours ago

Sometimes, the biggest news stories don't come from city halls or press conferences, but straight from your front lawn. And sometimes, the reporters covering them are just as entertained as the rest of us.
In one of the most delightfully unexpected videos floating around Instagram right now, an American reporter, Kayla Sullivan, has turned a classic sibling situation into a full-fledged breaking news segment. A boy named Nick was grounded by his parents. Nothing unusual there, until his loyal gang of neighbourhood friends showed up outside the house, holding an impromptu protest and chanting in unison: 'We want Nick!'
While Sullivan isn't related to Nick herself, she was tipped off by someone who is – Nick's sister Karlee Riggs. Giving a shoutout in her caption, Sullivan thanked Karlee for the exclusive scoop: 'Thanks for the news tip @riggskarlee. Will you please confirm what your brother did? The public needs to know.'
Naturally, she did what any good journalist would do – reported the 'developing story' with all the professionalism of a primetime news anchor. The result was a viral video that now has over 500,000 views and a comment section full of laughs, parenting confessions, and a few serious takes.

Many reacted to the video in the comments. 'Stay strong and turn the sprinklers on,' said a user in the comments. Another user commented, 'This is so dang funny! I'm trying to visualize my dad, aka 'Norm', would not have found this amusing! He was military. Does that explain my childhood??? Hahaha!'
Another user said, 'This definitely would NOT have worked with my mom. She would've doubled my punishment and grounded all of my friends.'
A fourth user wrote, 'This is one of the best things I've ever seen lol.' A woman said, 'I'm afraid that as a parent this would work on me and my son would be instantly released.'
However, not everyone was happy with the video. One commented, 'I sure hope that those parents hold their ground. Teens should not be able to control things like this. They need to respect the parents/ family. They need to know consequences.'

Katy Perry shares heartwarming pictures amid the spilt from Orlando Bloom

Katy Perry shared joyful pictures from Australia following her split from Orlando Bloom , giving fans a glimpse into her peaceful post-breakup mood. After her recent split from Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry is keeping things fun and light. On Friday, June 27, the singer posted a happy photo update from her Lifetimes Tour stop in Australia on Instagram. Perry posted images of herself having fun on Rottnest Island in Western Australia along with the caption, "Mood: Quokka," referring to the friendly marsupials that live there. Her latest update comes just days after US Weekly reported that Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have called off their engagement after nearly being together for a decade. Despite the personal change, Perry's post seems to reflect a calm and playful state of mind. In the Instagram photo-dump, Perry looked content and at ease. She picked up a quokka-themed chocolate treat from a nearby grocery store, rode over picturesque trails, and posed next to a quokka. However, a unique picture of her 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, whom she shares with Bloom, was the high point for viewers. In the cute picture, Daisy is seen helping in steering the boat, as she is dressed in a peach coloured cardigan. Although Perry was not in front of the camera at the time, the posted photo offered fans a charming look into her post-divorce motherhood experience. Although the couple has separated, their focus remains on their daughter. Another insider told the above-stated portal, 'They are still very much in touch and coparenting Daisy together. Orlando brought Daisy to meet Katy on tour before heading to the Bezos' wedding. It's not messy between them. They aren't making drastic changes for Daisy's sake.' Perry and Bloom have agreed to prioritize stability and consistency for their children. Bloom also shares son Flynn, 14, with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr. Perry has previously spoken about her relationship journey with Bloom. On the Call Her Daddy podcast in September 2024, she shared, 'We weren't really in it from day one. He was, in a way, because he had just done a time of celibacy, and he had set intentions. I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was just like, 'I can't do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond.''
