Bill Maher clashes with Hollywood actor John Leguizamo over immigration into US

Actor John Leguizamo told Bill Maher that America should take on more migrants because 'there's plenty of room here'. The liberal's assertion came during a fiery episode of Maher's Club Random podcast that laid bare the political fault lines between the two liberal voices. 'There's plenty of room in America, come on. There's no lack of room in America,' Leguizamo insisted, as Maher pushed back. 'It can't just be like, "come one, come all," Maher countered. 'It's never about room. It's about resources… Countries have to have a border.' The episode, which dropped on Monday saw the two clashing not just over immigration policy but race, identity, and even past personal encounters with Donald Trump himself. Maher, 69, a longtime liberal comedian known for skewering both the left and right, accused the Biden administration of mishandling the border crisis, prompting Leguizamo, 64, to launch into a passionate defense of immigrants and a scorching attack on what he sees as systemic racism in US history. 'We've been here since the beginning,' Leguizamo declared, referring to Latino communities in the United States. 'The first European language spoken in America was not English - it was Spanish. But we haven't moved up. We've stayed in the same place because this is the fourth mass deportation of Latinos since 1830.' He launched into a historical recounting of Latino persecution: 'After Mexico became America and they invaded and took from Mississippi to the Pacific, they started lynching people, stealing their land, stealing their political wealth. In the 1930s, with the Repatriation Act, two million Latinos - most of them American citizens - were deported.' Maher, who has been critical of both Trump and Biden's immigration policies looked at the modern day issue. 'Part of this is a backlash to how badly Biden handled the immigration situation… You can't just open the gates. 'Something like 200 million people around the world, when asked, "Would you come to America if you could?" - "Yes, I would." Why wouldn't they? Lots of countries, excuse me, are s***tholes, and they would love to be here.' Leguizamo was quick to push back: 'The places aren't s***holes.' 'Well, they are,' Maher replied. 'That's why they want to come.' 'It's usually because of America,' Leguizamo shot back. 'What America's done, especially in Latin America, is beat up every democracy that was burgeoning. They destroyed it to keep their oil or their resources or bananas.' The sharp exchange spiraled into more personal territory when Leguizamo recounted a past encounter with Trump, long before the real estate mogul entered politics. 'I met him a time I was giving an award at Trump Tower,' the actor recalled. 'He came up to me and goes, "Oh, you're so articulate."' Leguizamo said he interpreted that comment as a racist slight: 'White people always tell you that if you're a Latin person and you can speak, that you're so articulate -which I know is code for "I thought you were all dumb." Maher acknowledged the offense, calling the remark 'just obnoxious,' but rejected the notion that Trump himself was a racist: 'He's not a racist. He's a product of his time.' Leguizamo pushed back again: 'Some of us overcome our times.' 'That is true and fair to say,' Maher agreed. The exchange grew even more heated when the two addressed Trump's adviser, Stephen Miller, widely regarded as the architect of the Trump administration's hardline immigration policies. 'He's not on the level of racism that Stephen Miller is,' Leguizamo said. 'Nobody is at the level of Stephen Miller's racism. He grew up in Santa Monica with Latinos and I guess they bullied him - and he's got a chip on his shoulder.' Throughout the conversation, Maher tried to temper Leguizamo's moral urgency by citing how border towns and liberal cities were overwhelmed buckling under migrant inflows. 'Even the governor of New York was like, "We can't take all these people," Maher said. 'Mayor Adams was like - and he's right - it's like, you know, these people live here and now this is their burden.' Leguizamo, who hosts MSNBC's Leguizamo Does America, argued that immigrants were not a burden but the backbone of the country. 'The immigrants that are coming here are building the country,' he said. 'They're the essential workers. They're the first responders. They're doing all your construction, painting, plumbing, raising all your food, cooking all your food, serving all your food, taking care of your kids. We do all the work that nobody wants to do.' Maher responded, 'Yes, they are. Absolutely. But… there has to be some order to it.' Leguizamo seemed unmoved by the call for moderation. 'Let's fix the legal immigration,' he demanded. 'It's a broken system. People who've been here for 30 years can't be naturalized. That's insane.' In a rare moment of agreement, Maher conceded the legal system is failing many long-time immigrants. 'Fix the quotas,' he said. 'Fix the blockage.' The conversation went back and forth between barbed humor and some tense disagreements, with Maher even joking about the kinds of countries where 'you can take a chicken on a bus' being what he called 's***hole countries.' He clarified: 'It doesn't mean you're a s***hole person. You have the misfortune of being born there.' Leguizamo, while acknowledging the hardships, insisted that the answer was not shutting the door, but swinging it open. 'Immigrants are the life source of this country,' he said.

Joy Taylor resurfaces as news of her brutal Fox Sports axing emerges months on from bombshell sex lawsuit

Joy Taylor's time at Fox Sports officially came to an end on Monday. However, the former host appeared unfazed by the bombshell news. It was revealed earlier on Monday afternoon that the 38-year-old had been ousted from the network as part of a brutal overhaul, which sees three shows axed. Yet, as the report sparked an internet frenzy, Taylor refused to acknowledge her shock exit. Instead, she took to Instagram. The former sports host, who was embroiled in a bombshell sex lawsuit a few months ago, shared a video to the platform of herself in a tight-fitting blue workout set performing a series of exercises. Taylor, who appeared to be on vacation, could be seen jumping rope and carrying out arm workouts with a resistance band on an outdoor deck overlooking clear blue sea. At one point in the clip, Taylor was even captured doing a number of weighted hip thrusts with a dumbbell as a bikini-clad friend lounged on a day bed behind her. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Joy Taylor (@joytaylortalks) 'Couple sets before the beach,' she wrote in the caption, along side a flexed bicep emoji. Taylor shied away from any mention of her exit from Fox Sports as news of the network's brutal moves ran rampant online. As well as FS1 show 'Speak', which Taylor co-hosts, Fox is also cancelling two of its morning programs, as per The Athletic . All three shows are said to have struggled to find a huge audience, meaning they have now been brought to a close. Taylor, who co-hosted sports talk show Speak with ex-NFL star Keyshawn Johnson and NBA icon Paul Pierce, leaves Fox just months after she was accused of using sexual relationships with colleagues to further her career in a bombshell lawsuit filed by an ex-employee. The 38-year-old was also alleged to have told make-up artist Noushin Faraji to 'get over it' when she confided in her about claims she was sexually assaulted by top programming executive Charlie Dixon. Taylor denied the allegation. After nearly a decade with Fox, Taylor's contract was up this year and the network has reportedly decided not to renew it. FS1 is also said to be cancelling morning shows 'Breakfast Ball' and 'The Facility'. Colin Cowherd's 'The Herd' and 'First Things First' with Nick Wright, Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes will continue as usual, with FS1 likely to produce new shows to replace the three that have been cancelled. has reached out to Joy Taylor's attorneys for comment. Two weeks ago Taylor finally spoke out about the lawsuit that embroiled several Fox Sports stars in scandal, claiming the allegations left her battling 'dark times', 'grief' and 'trauma'. 'I won't say that there were not dark times, but I'm very blessed to have an amazing family and amazing friends and mentors and an amazing team,' she told ' The Breakfast Club '. 'People that know me and have known me for my whole life reminding me of who I am and what I deserve.' Taylor continued: 'I have felt a lot of different emotions - I think it's a grief process when anything like that happens,' she told The Breakfast Club. 'I'll say, I've been through a lot of traumatic things in my life. A lot. And I think any time you go through a trauma or a grieving period of something, you can't decide who you are when it's happening. 'And that's been the biggest thing for me. It's this or that. I'm working on it, but it's this or that. And I know years from now I'll look back, and I will feel differently than how I feel right now. 'I'm trying to be patient with myself in that way, because it's a lot to adjust to. It's a new reality. And I'm trying to choose myself and be gentle with myself in that sense.' Despite the furor, she continued to present 'Speak' and 'Two Personal', her podcast which includes graphic admissions about her sex life . Taylor explained why decided not to hide from the scrutiny, telling The Breakfast Club: 'It was intentional to show up as I did' She explained: 'When you know yourself, it's easier to continue to show up as you are. And there's always going to be things that happen in life, that happen in this business, that happen when you're a front-facing person. 'And when you get into the business, that is the risk we take. Of putting ourselves in front of the camera, of putting yourself out there. That things, at some point, might not be the best for you. I mean, what's meant for me is still coming.'

Livvy Dunne and Paul Skenes touch down in Atlanta for MLB All-Star Game after flying in on luxury private jet

Social media sensation, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, and former college gymnast Livvy Dunne is back in the Deep South for one of the biggest American sports events of the year. Dunne and her boyfriend, Pittsburgh Pirates pitching ace Paul Skenes, are in Atlanta for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game - set to take place on Tuesday night. She shared a pair of snaps to her Instagram Story of herself and her man on a private jet bound for the ATL. The couple rode in style and in comfort - with the cabin of the aircraft adorned with slick wood accents and cushioned leather chairs. Now they're both in Georgia as Skenes has been named one of the best baseball players at this point in the season. Not only that, but Skenes is believed to be the starter for the National League for Tuesday's showpiece. The pair boarded a private jet bound for the MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta on Tuesday Skenes was given that same honor last year, when he was a rookie for the Pirates. As for Dunne, she's had some trouble finding an apartment in New York City after her recent bid for a unit has been rejected. 'So a few months ago, I decided I was going to make my first Real Estate purchase, which is so exciting and I was gonna get an apartment in New York City ,' Dunne, who is said to be worth a staggering $6million, explained in the video. 'But the gag was... it was Babe Ruth's apartment.' The baseball legend's lavish former home is priced just under $1.6million - and Dunne says she had agreed to pay for it in cash. However, just as she appeared to have landed a historic apartment, Dunne and boyfriend Paul Skenes were dealt a major blow. 'The week that I'm supposed to get my keys to my brand new apartment, I get a call... the co-op board denied me,' she recalled. 'So pretty much the people in the building voted to not have me live there. Which is fine. 'Honestly, it wasn't financial. For all I know, they could've been Alabama fans and I went to LSU. Like, I have no clue. Dunne, the influencer and swimsuit model, recently got rejected for a lavish NYC apartment 'Maybe they didn't want a public figure living there, but I was literally supposed to get the keys, and that week they denied me. 'It was just iconic, it was so cool that it was Babe Ruth's apartment. But long story short, don't try to live in a co-op. You might get denied and you won't get Babe Ruth's apartment.' Dunne, who retired from gymnastics after leaving LSU earlier this year, has built up a sizeable net worth at the age of just 22 due to her social-media fame, brand partnerships and lucrative Name, Image and Likeness deals.
