Ed Sheeran Opens Up About Parenting Two Girls: ‘Energy Is Different'
Ed Sheeran is enjoying the success of his latest track, Sapphire, which he made in collaboration with Arijit Singh. The music video was shot in India and fans witnessed Ed Sheeran singing a Punjabi chorus as well. While his professional successes are known to all, the singer has mostly been quiet about his personal life. Ed Sheeran is a father to two girls – Lyra and Jupiter. The singer enjoys being a girl dad and opened up about his life as a parent in his latest podcast appearance.
Ed Sheeran appeared on the Not Gonna Lie podcast with Kylie Kelce, where he was asked about being outnumbered by the girls in his house. He replied, 'I love it. Like, I really, really, really love it". He also recalled the time his first daughter was born and noted that he never had any preference. He said, 'I didn't really have any expectations…I think when you're having children, it wasn't like 'I want this or that' (shrugs shoulders). When we had our first daughter, it was like, I don't know, something just clicked and I was like 'I think I can have many, many, many daughters, and be so, so fulfilled and happy'."
Ed Sheeran's elder daughter, Lyra is 5 years old while the younger one Jupitar is 2. The singer noted that he loves to see them interact with each other. Though he didn't explicitly state that being a girl dad was superior to being a boy dad. But Ed Sheeran believes that the vibe is totally different. He mentioned his friends who have two sons exactly the same age as his daughters. He said, 'My best mate has had two boys and they live opposite us, and…(pauses and smiles), there is a stark difference. And they're exactly the same age, we have the same ethos, and we hang out like all the time, but the energy is different."
Ed married his long time girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn, in December 2018. In August 2020, the couple welcomed their eldest daughter, Lyra. Jupiter, the younger one, was born in May 2022.

The former India cricket captain, known for his passion for automobiles, bought the powerful SUV from American automaker General Motors in 2009. Now, 15 years later, he has given it a fresh makeover inspired by the Indian Army, a force with which he shares a deep emotional connection.
