A PSL official has been arrested and charged with domestic violence after allegedly slapping a 27-year-old woman during an argument at their Kempton Park apartment on 28 June.

A top PSL official is embroiled in a domestic violence scandal following an assault case opened against him by a 27-year-old woman believed to be his girlfriend.
The official allegedly slapped the woman, whose name is known to City Press, after an argument at their apartment in Kempton Park on 28 June.
City Press understands that the official was arrested on Friday, days after the matter was reported to the Sebenza Police Station.
A police officer close to the case, who asked to remain anonymous because he is not allowed to speak to the media, said the official was being held at the Modderbee Correctional Centre until his first court appearance on Monday.
They live together in an apartment and when the argument took place, the woman alleges that he physically assaulted her by slapping her. She declared in her police statement that this was the first time he ever hit her since their relationship began.
Police source
Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed the case and that he would be appearing in court on Monday.
'That is a common assault case related to domestic violence. The suspect is expected to appear in court on 7 July.'
City Press could not reach the official for comment, but the woman denied that the incident took place or that she had opened a criminal case.
She even disputed knowing the official: 'This is the first [time] I've heard of it.'
However, according to the police source, the woman has been trying to have the charges dropped.

Attack by homeless man in L.A. leaves woman, 52, with broken nose, concussion

A woman brutally assaulted by an alleged transient in Los Angeles' Los Feliz neighborhood is calling on city officials to do more to keep residents safe. The violence unfolded on June 18 when Donna DeChristopher, 52, was walking home from running errands in what she describes as a normally safe, walkable area near her residence on Sunset Drive. The 52-year-old spotted a homeless man that she's seen in the area and believes lives in a nearby encampment not far from Thomas Starr King Middle School. She says the man, described as a Hispanic male in his 20's, ran up to her and punch her in the face at least three times before she went unconscious. The 52-year-old, who said she suffered a concussion, a broken nose, complications with her eye and psychological street from the traumatic assault, said she may have been hit again while she was on the ground and blacked out. 2 brothers reported missing found dead off California highway Fortunately, a Good Samaritan who witnessed what happened came to help her. The 52-year-old is now calling on the police department, the district attorney and city leaders to do more to prevent these attacks, especially since there are children in the area who attend the nearby middle school. 'I know that so much is going on right now, but this should not be falling through the cracks,' DeChristopher told KTLA News. 'If this happens to me, I'm vocal. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. Who else has he attacked that he has hurt that is too afraid to come forward? Who is he going to hurt the next time he's out on the streets?' Councilmember Nithya Raman, who represents DeChristopher's district released the following statement: 'While our work has yielded results, including a 40% drop in the number of people living on the streets in our district last year, much more remains to be done and we will continue to deploy every resource available toward address this issue.' Just days after she was attacked, the Los Angeles Police Department arrested a homeless man believed to be DeChristopher's attacker, who has reportedly trespassed onto properties in the area. The man had a previous warrant out for his arrest and is currently being held without bail. KTLA has reached out to the district attorney's office for confirmation, asking if that arrest is linked to DeChristopher's assault and, if so, what charges he will likely be facing. Phoenix officer has minor injuries after being assaulted in an alley, police say

A Phoenix police officer was injured after responding to a large gathering, a spokesperson said. Around 10 p.m. July 5, police were called out for reports of criminal damage in a neighborhood near 35th Avenue and Cactus Road, according to Lorraine Fernandez, spokesperson for the Phoenix Police Department. Arriving officers made contact with a large group of adult men and teens in an alley, where a man resisted commands of police and assaulted an officer, prompting an underage male to intervene and also attack, Fernandez said. Another police officer used pepper spray to stop the fight, said Fernandez. The assaulted officer sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene by the Phoenix Fire Department, according to Fernandez. More police arrived and witnessed the group walking from the alley back into a residence, Fernandez said. Police organized a containment, and eventually, 20 people exited the home, according to Fernandez. The teen attacker was taken to the hospital but was later booked along with the adult attacker for aggravated assault on a police officer. Both of them remained unidentified. An unidentified adult woman was also treated by the Phoenix Fire Department and taken to the hospital for a medical condition, Fernandez said. The incident remained under investigation.
