Jay Chou joins Chinese platform Douyin, gets over 11 million followers in a day
Jay Chou started an account on the short video platform Douyin under the name 'Classmate Chou' on July 9. Photos: Jay Chou/Instagram, Douyin Mandopop star Jay Chou has finally joined Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok. The 46-year-old started an account on the short video platform under the name 'Classmate Chou' on July 9 at 11am. According to the Chinese media, the number of followers exceeded one million in one hour, even though the Taiwanese singer has not posted any videos. That number jumped to more than 11 million by the afternoon of July 10. There were rumours online on July 9 that Douyin had spent a nine-figure sum to get Chou to join, but they were refuted by the platform, reported Chinese news site Guancha. Chou's presence on Douyin provided a boost to Star Plus Legend, a company co-founded by his mother Yeh Hui-mei and closely linked with the singer. According to Hong Kong Economic Journal, the company's shares surged more than 1.6 times on July 9 to a high of HK$17 at one point before closing at HK$12.44. Chou's Douyin account is his second Chinese-language social media account. In 2020, he set up an account on Chinese short video platform Kuaishou, considered a rival to Douyin. The Kuaishou account has about 48 million followers, but Chou has not updated it in more than three months. The singer is also on Instagram and Facebook, where he has about 10.4 million and 4.3 million followers respectively. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network

Taiwanese Actor Chen Bo-lin To Tie The Knot With Singer Chen Ting-Hsuan?
Arguably, marriage is the highest level a relationship can reach — a formal commitment to a shared future. And on the 9th July (Wednesday), it was revealed that beloved actor Chen Bo-lin (陳柏霖) had recently been looking for restaurants that hold weddings overseas. After 13 years of dating former Popu Lady member Chen Ting-Hsuan (陈庭萱), rumours now suggest the ceremony will take place in New Zealand. Reportedly, Chen was impressed by the country during a previous variety show visit. With no set budget, the wedding will likely remain private, with around 30 guests closely connected to the couple. Chen Bo-lin, also known as Wilson Chen, is a highly regarded actor in East Asian countries. He gained recognition for roles in 'Blue Gate Crossing', 'Buddha Mountain', 'In Time with You', and many more. The first rumours of the Golden Awards winner dating Ting-Hsuan started back in 2012, after paparazzi spotted the actress entering his house following work. Singer Chen Ting-Hsuan was originally part of the popular Taiwanese group Popu Lady before their disbandment in 2020. Although they didn't reach continental popularity, their debut EP 'Keep Keep Loving' quickly hit 10 best-selling charts. This success clearly showcased their strong fan base in their country. However, she has since been inactive in the entertainment industry. When the actor's manager was interviewed, he neither confirmed nor denied the claims. Instead, he said that any good news would be shared with the press. 'Thank you for your good wishes. We will let you know when we have any good news.' His careful response has left fans eagerly awaiting an official announcement. Presumably, Chen Bo-lin planned a special proposal trip for his girlfriend to Queenstown, the iconic filming location of the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy. If this wedding is confirmed, it will likely take place toward the end of the year, giving everyone a joyful event to look forward to. #SHOWBIZ: Taiwanese actor Chen Bo-lin to wed girlfriend after dating for 13 years
TAIPEI: Taiwanese actor Chen Bo-lin is reportedly set to marry singer-actress Chen Ting-hsuan, his girlfriend of almost 13 years, this year. According to a report by Taiwanese magazine Mirror Media on July 9, sources in the catering industry have learned that Chen has been making enquiries about the details of a small wedding to be held overseas. It's thought that the ceremony will most likely take place in New Zealand at the end of the year, though a final decision is yet to be made. Chen, 41, travelled to Queenstown, New Zealand, in May, where he proposed to Ting-hsuan, 35, during a helicopter ride over the mountains. He chose the location for his proposal, and likely the wedding, after being impressed by New Zealand's scenery while filming the travel variety show What A Trip there recently. In June, Ting-hsuan posted videos and photos of herself in Glenorchy, New Zealand, where she enjoyed a horse ride at one of the filming locations for The Lord Of The Rings trilogy (2001 to 2003). When approached by the media on July 9, Chen's manager neither confirmed nor denied the news, saying: "Thank you for your good wishes. We will let you know when we have any good news." The couple's relationship first came to light in late 2012 after Ting-hsuan was seen going to Chen's house after work. He later confirmed on social media that they began dating after meeting on the set of the Taiwanese film Machi Action (2013). Prior to this, Chen was in a relationship with Malaysian-American model Mandy Lieu, 40, from 2007 to 2010. Ting-hsuan was a member of the Taiwanese girl group Popu Lady, which debuted in 2012 and has been on hiatus since 2020.
