Addverb partners with Infineon Technologies AG to deploy BLE safety in robotic fleet

Cision Canada27-05-2025
IRVINE, Calif., May 27, 2025 /CNW/ -- Addverb, a global leader in industrial robotics and warehouse automation, announced its partnership with Infineon Technologies AG, a global leader in power systems and IoT. This strategic partnership incorporates Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE)-based communication systems into Addverb's robotic fleet to address critical safety concerns. It demonstrates Addverb's commitment to enhancing safety protocols and developing scalable robotics capabilities, fostering an adaptable ecosystem that meets global standards.
Addverb has implemented the upgraded solution across Zippy 10 robots in active warehouse environments. These solutions enable safety protocols beyond standard Wi-Fi infrastructure, with a BLE-powered emergency stop system that deactivates robots in sensitive situations within seconds to prevent pitfalls. The deployment also includes a remote power cut-off feature, enabling centralized power management for large robotic fleets without manual intervention.
Sangeet Kumar, Co-founder and CEO of Addverb, said, "Our collaboration with Infineon Technologies marks a pivotal step in Addverb's pursuit of delivering intelligent, connected automation for the global supply chain. The reliability of BLE overcomes critical constraints we have observed with Wi-Fi in warehouses-especially in safety scenarios where every millisecond matters. This collaboration allows us to co-create innovations that set new standards for safety and performance in connected automation. We are confident that these innovations will qualify us to build a robust foundation of a reliable and safe automative solutions for our partners."
Shantanu Bhalerao, Vice President, Wireless Product Line at Infineon Technologies, added, "We are pleased to collaborate with Addverb in advancing safety and connectivity in industrial robotics. This partnership not only enables the integration of our advanced Bluetooth low-energy technology into real-world automation scenarios but also reinforces our commitment to delivering robust, industrial-grade connectivity solutions. Through close cooperation with Addverb's engineering team, we are able to align our product development—such as the upcoming AIROC™ CYW20829 Bluetooth LE MCU module—with the evolving demands of large-scale robotic applications."

Top 20% of Canadian income-earning families pay 57% of all taxes

CALGARY, AB, July 17, 2025 /CNW/ - The top 20 per cent of income-earning families pay more than half (56.9 per cent) of total taxes including personal income, sales and property taxes, according to a new study published by the Fraser Institute, an independent non-partisan Canadian think-tank. "Despite the common misperception that top earners don't pay their 'fair share' of taxes, the reality is these households pay a disproportionately large share of the total tax bill," said Jake Fuss, director of fiscal studies at the Fraser Institute and co-author of Measuring Progressivity in Canada's Tax System, 2025. The key to understanding "fairness" is comparing the share of income earned by one group compared to their share of total taxes paid. By this objective measure, the top 20 per cent of income-earning families is the only group to pay a disproportionate share of the total tax burden compared to their share of income earned. Specifically, the study finds that the top 20 per cent of income-earning families pay a larger share of total taxes (56.9 per cent) than their share of income (47.8 per cent). "While the top 20 percent earn a large share of total income at 47.8 per cent, they pay an even higher share of total taxes (56.9 per cent)," Fuss said. Conversely, the bottom 20 per cent of income-earning families pay 1.9 per cent of total taxes while earning 4.8 per cent of the total family income in Canada. Indeed, the study found that all 80 per cent of income-earning families outside of the top 20 per cent paid less in total taxes than they earned in total income. "The assertion that the top 20 per cent of earners in Canada are not paying their fair share is simply not supported by the evidence," Fuss said. Swissbit to Debut at Black Hat USA 2025

Article content WESTFORD, Mass. — Swissbit, a leading manufacturer of storage and security solutions, will make its debut at Black Hat USA on August 6–7, 2025, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. At booth #6025, Swissbit will showcase its unique approach to cybersecurity – protecting the often-neglected physical layer of connected systems, from IoT and industrial equipment to critical infrastructure and edge devices. All Swissbit products, including its latest security innovations, are manufactured in Germany to ensure a transparent supply chain, industrial-grade quality, and trusted reliability. Exposing the hidden risk: physical access to embedded systems While much focus is placed on cloud and AI infrastructure, a critical security gap remains: Physical attacks on embedded and edge systems. Often deployed in remote or exposed environments, these systems are vulnerable to tampering and data theft. From smart meters and PLCs to drones, the consequences can be serious. Swissbit addresses this threat with plug-and-play, hardware-based solutions that secure both new and legacy systems, without the need for major redesigns. Article content Article content 'We're excited to bring Swissbit's expertise to Black Hat for the first time,' said Claus Gründel, General Manager Security Solutions at Swissbit. 'Physical attacks are a growing risk that many still underestimate. We provide easy-to-integrate, hardware-based security that protects systems and data at the edge, where software alone isn't enough.' Hardware-based protection for data and devices Article content At Black Hat, Swissbit will demonstrate secure storage products such as microSD cards with AES-256 encryption and secure boot capabilities. These solutions retrofit embedded systems and protect edge-generated data like video and sensor streams from unauthorized access. By enabling compliance with regulations such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act and NIS2, Swissbit offers a future-proof path to stronger, more sustainable cybersecurity. Article content Bridging digital and physical access with iShield Key 2 Article content Also featured at the Swissbit booth: the new iShield Key 2 series -compact security keys that combine FIDO-based multi-protocol authentication with physical access control. Tailored for enterprise and government use, they integrate secure login and facility entry into a single, robust solution for digital identity and access protection.
