KOTA KINABALU: Api-Api Assemblywoman Datuk Seri Christina Liew has expressed satisfaction with the progress of road patching work, clogged drain clearance and grass cutting services provided by the relevant authorities, following her latest visit to various parts of her constituency. Most recently, she was on her routine site inspection to identify roads and drains overgrown with grass that needed prompt attention. 'I hope the condition of Jalan Bukit Punai will be improved to ease mobility for residents in the area,' said Liew, adding that Lorong Sena 1 needs resurfacing. Accompanying the Api-Api Assemblywoman were engineers from the Public Works Department (JKR) and Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK). Also present were Kapitan Nancy Chua Li Wah, Kapitan Margaret Chong Moi Hiong, Api-Api Community Development Leader Theresa Chong Mui Lan and Community Development Officer Yoong Yik Tin. Appropriate action has since been taken to cut the grass and clear the drainage along Jalan Menteri, Jalan Kebajikan, Jalan Sang Kancil (1, 2 & 3), and Jalan Tadika Tzu Yu. To prevent flooding, a section of the drain overgrown with vegetation along a stretch of Jalan Sena in the Sunny Garden housing estate was also addressed immediately. Sembulan folks seek ongoing support from Gagasan Rakyat

Tanjung Aru division committee member Dr Ritchie Jay Cheng said the initiative was carried out following calls from local residents highlighting the urgent needs of several families. Advertisement 'As a committee member of Gagasan Rakyat Tanjung Aru, I felt compelled to come down personally with our volunteer team to deliver the food baskets,' he said. Also present during the distribution was the village chief of Kampung Sembulan Tengah, Jamaiyah Ahmad, who joined in reaching out to each recipient household. During the programme, villagers also appealed to Dr Ritchie for assistance in repairing a damaged section of a bridge that serves as a vital link within the community. 'I welcome a community-based effort to restore the damaged bridge section as soon as possible,' Dr Ritchie responded. He noted that the food aid initiative is part of Gagasan Rakyat Tanjung Aru's ongoing efforts to support residents in need across the constituency. 'We hope this contribution can ease the burden of families here, and most importantly, let them know that Sembulan families are always remembered,' he added. Dr Ritchie also expressed appreciation for the volunteers who ensured the food baskets were delivered smoothly. Supermarket eggs hatch a fluffy surprise in home kitchen

QINGDAO: A woman here recently got the surprise of her life when she returned from a two-day trip to find 70 fluffy chicks chirping around her kitchen, Arab Times reported. The uninvited guests were not bought from a farm, but hatched from 90 supermarket eggs she had left in cartons before leaving. Advertisement She suspected the unusually high summer temperatures in Qingdao triggered the early hatching. Most grocery store eggs are infertile, making such an occurrence highly unusual. Rather than panic, she and her family sprang into action, creating a makeshift shelter out of old sweaters and feeding the chicks warm rice broth using syringes. Against all odds, every single chick survived, proving that even grocery store eggs can occasionally pull off a miracle.
