
HM the Sultan receives written message from President of the Union of the Comoros
The message was received by His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister , during a meeting today at the Ministry of Foreign with His Excellency Mbae Mohamed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the President's Special Envoy to the Union of the Comoros.
During the meeting, the Comorian Envoy conveyed the greetings of His Excellency the President of the Union of the Comoros and his best wishes for continued health, well-being, and a long life to His Majesty the Sultan, and for continued progress and prosperity to the Omani people.
For his part, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign entrusted the guest to convey the greetings of His Majesty the Sultan to His Excellency the President of the Union of the Comoros, and His Majesty's best wishes for happiness and continued success, and for further progress and prosperity to the brotherly Comorian people.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the historical relations and fraternal cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Union of the Comoros. They exchanged views on ways to develop the partnership in the economic fields, particularly food security, transportation, and tourism, for the mutual benefit of the two brotherly countries.
The two sides also discussed a number of issues and developments of common interest, as well as the efforts made to achieve peace, harmony, and the establishment of security and stability throughout the world.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and a number of officials from both sides.

Duqm Refinery celebrates export of 500th shipment of oil products
Duqm: Duqm Refinery marked a significant milestone with the export of its 500th shipment of refined petroleum products through its export terminal, reflecting the company's rapid progress and solidifying its position as a strategic hub in global energy supply chains. The achievement underscores the refinery's unwavering commitment to operational excellence, safety, and the delivery of high-quality products. Eng. Abdullah Al Ajmi, CEO of Duqm Refinery, stated that since the first shipment in May 2023, the refinery has maintained a flawless safety record while exporting over 19 million tonnes of refined products to multiple global markets. This success highlights the refinery's operational resilience, efficiency, and accelerated growth driven by strong momentum. In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Al Ajmi emphasized that reaching the 500th shipment milestone demonstrates what can be achieved through vision, collaboration, and operational excellence. He noted that Duqm Refinery has consistently set new benchmarks in operational performance, achieving exceptional loading rates of 130,000 barrels per hour across five simultaneous berths—a testament to the refinery's advanced operational efficiency and precision. The CEO added that the refinery has demonstrated remarkable logistical capabilities, handling 304,388 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and seamlessly managing vessels of varying sizes, from small tankers to giant LR2-class ships. Additionally, the refinery completed loading operations for petroleum coke shipments, each exceeding 50,000 tons, in under 120 hours per shipment. Al Ajmi pointed out that after more than two years of full-scale operations, nighttime crude oil offloading at Ras Markaz terminal has become an integral part of daily operations, showcasing the refinery's readiness to provide round-the-clock integrated logistics services. He explained that Duqm's export terminal, strategically located outside the Strait of Hormuz, offers a competitive logistical advantage, enabling smooth exports to key destinations spanning East Africa, South Asia, the Gulf of Mexico, and Europe. He affirmed that Duqm Refinery continues to diversify its exports, with plans to expand sulfur shipments as part of its strategy to broaden its product portfolio and flexibly meet global market demands with innovation. Eng. Al Ajmi stressed that this rapid achievement reinforces Duqm Refinery's position as a strategic developmental hub, advancing Oman's industrial ambitions and strengthening global confidence in the Sultanate of Oman as a reliable supply chain partner. The refinery stands as one of the world's most advanced and efficient refineries. It is worth to mention that Duqm Refinery has achieved remarkable growth in a record time, exceeding 110% of its nameplate capacity and increasing production from 230,000 to 255,000 barrels per day.

Development Bank approves 3,716 loans in first half of 2025
Muscat: The Development Bank approved 3,716 loans in the first half of 2025, with a total value of OMR110 million, marking a 13% growth compared to the same period last year. This comes as part of the bank's efforts to achieve the objectives of "Oman Vision 2040", aimed at promoting economic diversification and supporting the private sector. The bank also seeks to boost investment in productive and service-oriented economic sectors to enhance self-sufficiency in goods, products, and services. Hamad Salim Al Harthy, Head of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Financing and Portfolio Management at the Development Bank, emphasised that these loans, programmes, and initiatives provided by the bank to productive and service projects contribute significantly to the national economy. They support food security requirements, reduce imports, and encourage individual initiatives among citizens in entrepreneurship, alongside backing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and fostering self-employment. In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Al Harthy highlighted that the most prominent sectors financed included the manufacturing sector with a total value of OMR38 million, the general professional services sector with OMR19 million, the agricultural and livestock sector with OMR9 million, the fisheries sector with OMR14 million, and the mining sector with OMR8 million. He further noted that among the key projects financed by the Development Bank in the first half of this year were those in Muscat Governorate (OMR25 million), South Al Sharqiyah Governorate (OMR14 million), South Al Batinah Governorate (OMR11 million), North Al Batinah Governorate (OMR18 million), and Al Wusta Governorate (OMR8 million). Al Harthy stated that the increased lending activity of the Development Bank empowers Omani youth to implement their entrepreneurial projects across promising economic sectors. He underlined the bank's commitment to redoubling its efforts and expanding its services to strengthen its role in enabling the SME sector, increasing its contributions to GDP, and enhancing local value addition.
