RSS to organise Hindu Conferences nationwide to mark centenary year

New Delhi [India], June 28 (ANI): The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has announced plans to organise Hindu conferences and public outreach programs across the country as part of its centenary year celebrations.
The RSS will complete 100 years of its establishment on Vijayadashami this year. To mark this milestone, celebrations will begin on August 26 with a lecture series by RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, which will take place in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
For its centenary year, the RSS has set a goal to reach every block in every state across the country. The organisation considers its local branches (shakhas) its greatest strength and aims to increase the number of shakhas to over one lakh this year.
This information was shared by Anil Gupta, Delhi Prant Karyavah, Delhi RSS, during the Dev Rishi Narad Journalism Awards ceremony. He stated that the centenary year celebrations would be inaugurated on August 26 with a three-day lecture series by Mohan Bhagwat in the four major metros. Alongside this, nationwide outreach campaigns will also be conducted.
Towards the end of the year, the RSS plans to organise 1,500 to 1,600 Hindu conferences across India. The organisation was founded on Vijayadashami, which falls on October 2 this year, marking its 100th anniversary.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, speaking at the launch of the biography of late Ayurveda Practitioner and RSS leader Dada Khadiwale in Pune, emphasised that the core principle of RSS is 'belongingness.'
'If the RSS were to be described in one word, it would be 'belongingness',' Bhagwat said, adding that this feeling must grow stronger in society.
'If the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) were to be described in just one word, that word would be 'belongingness'. What does the Sangh do? It organises Hindus. And this growing sense of belongingness should be further strengthened because the entire world is sustained by it,' he added.
Bhagwat said that real unity comes from recognising the common thread that connects everyone. Humans, unlike animals, have the ability to rise above selfishness, he explained. 'The one who understands this belongingness is truly human,' he said. (ANI)

Himachal: Kangra airport conducts full-scale emergency mock drill to test disaster preparedness
Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 28 (ANI): A full-scale emergency mock exercise was successfully conducted at Kangra Airport on Saturday. The objective of the exercise was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Aerodrome Emergency Plan (AEP) and to enhance coordination among various responding agencies, according to airport officials. According to the simulated scenario, a Delhi to Gaggal flight (VTABC, Q400 type) reported a starboard engine failure at 1515 hours and requested priority landing. The aircraft was carrying 71 persons onboard. During its approach to Runway 33, the aircraft declared a 'May Day' and crashed near the Manjhi River. Immediately after the report, ATC declared a full emergency and alerted all concerned agencies. Fire tenders, ambulances, medical teams, and the State Disaster Management team rushed to the crash site. Injured passengers were provided first aid and shifted to hospitals, while a few casualties were sent for DNA profiling for identification. The exercise was closely monitored by Airport Director Dhirendra Singh, SDM Ishant Jaswal, DySP Ankit Sharma, officers from the State Fire Department, local hospitals, and the disaster response team. Coordination and response from all departments were found to be timely and effective. The exercise aimed to enhance preparedness and ensure an efficient real-time response during actual emergencies. The exercise followed the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile,the Airports Authority of India (AAI) also conducted a mock drill at Chennai International Airport on Saturday to assess emergency preparedness for a potential plane crash. 'This mock exercise drill is a standard practice that airports undertake as part of their Airport Emergency Plan. Usually, we do it at the airport. This is the first time we are doing it outside, as we wanted to assess the preparedness of state authorities following what happened in Ahmedabad,' Airport Director of Airports Authority of India, Chennai International Airport, CV Deepak, told ANI. 'We will now hear from independent observers and fill the gaps accordingly... Approximately 300 people participated. Around 55 people participated as passengers onboard the aircraft,' he added. On June 12, a London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a hostel complex of BJ Medical College in the Meghani Nagar area of Gujarat's Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The DNA samples of 251 victims in the Air India plane crash have been identified. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) Lab in New Delhi is currently working intensively to examine data retrieved from the black boxes of the flight. According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Crash Protection Module (CPM) from the front black box was safely retrieved, and on June 25, 2025, the memory module was successfully accessed and its data downloaded at the AAIB Lab. Sources familiar with the process told ANI that an identical black box, referred to as a 'golden chassis,' was used to confirm whether data could be accurately recovered from the black boxes. One black box was recovered from the rooftop of a building at the crash site on June 13, and the other from the debris on June 16. (ANI)

Uttarakhand: CM Dhami plants sapling along with his mother and son under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 28 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami planted a sapling along with his mother Bishna Devi on Saturday under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. Chief Minister's son Diwakar also planted a sapling on the occasion. This initiative aims to inspire every person to plant a tree in honour of their mother so that environmental protection can be made a mass movement through emotional attachment. During this, CM Dhami said, 'Mother is the first guru of life, and the environment gives us life. It is our duty to serve both mother and nature. This campaign also gives the message of responsibility towards the environment in society.' Furthermore, the CM appealed to the people of the state to plant a tree in memory of their mothers and take care of it themselves. Earlier, CM Dhami planted a Sita Ashoka sapling at the Chief Minister's residence on the occasion of World Environment Day as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. On this occasion, the Chief Minister called upon the state's people to participate in this holy work and serve nature while respecting their mother. This campaign is dedicated to maternal respect and environmental protection, encouraging every person to plant a tree in honour of their mother. Dhami also greeted people on World Environment Day and urged them to participate in the 'Ek Ped Maa ke Naam' initiative by planting at least one tree and protecting the environment. ' 'Conservation of nature and environment is both our cultural heritage and responsibility. Under the leadership and guidance of the respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign has been started to promote environmental conservation,' Dhami said in a post on X. Dairatul Maarif in Hyderabad preserves the Bhagavad Gita in Arabic
At a time of rising religious polarisation, Hyderabad's Dairatul Maarifil Osmania is setting a remarkable example of interfaith harmony by preserving sacred Hindu texts like the Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana in Arabic and Persian. Located within the Osmania University campus, this 136-year-old Oriental Research Institute was founded in 1888 by the 6th Nizam, Mahboob Ali Pasha. Traditionally known for editing and publishing rare Arabic manuscripts, Dairatul Maarif has published over 240 scholarly titles across 800 volumes. Among its most notable contributions is the Arabic edition of the Bhagavad Gita, titled 'Al Kita', translated from Sanskrit by Dr Makhan Lal Roy Choudhury of Calcutta University. First published in 1951 and reprinted in 2016 under the Government of India's Hamari Dharohar Scheme, this edition includes extensive introductions and scholarly annotations, making it a vital resource in comparative religious studies. Prof SA Shukoor, Director of Dairatul Maarif, said the institute's mission is to foster cultural and religious understanding. Their library also houses a Persian translation of the Ramayana, further reflecting their inclusive academic vision. Both texts are meticulously preserved using modern archival techniques. Dr Choudhury translated the Gita during his tenure at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, under the mentorship of Prof Muhammad Habib Ahmad. The effort was supported by Dairatul Maarif, which provided financial and publishing assistance. Today, the Arabic Gita has found readers worldwide, particularly in the Middle East, and is being used by scholars for research in interfaith and comparative religion. Former Law Minister Asif Pasha, after visiting the institute, praised its role in nurturing harmony through knowledge. 'Dairatul Maarif is a beacon of intellectual and cultural unity in an increasingly divided world,' he said. The institute's commitment to preserving the spiritual heritage of all faiths stands as a powerful reminder of the unifying strength of scholarship.
