Zapurza Arts Festival 2025 Celebrates Culture & Community

The Zapurza Museum of Arts and Culture, an initiative by P. N. Gadgil & Sons, marked its third anniversary with the Zapurza Arts Festival 2025, a five-day celebration spread across two weekends: May 10–11 and May 17–19.
Designed with school holidays and exam schedules in mind, the festival welcomed a multi-generational audience, offering an enriching blend of art, performance, and participatory workshops. Families experienced an array of activities including children's theatre, classical dance, and interactive sessions in jewellery design, calligraphy, bottle painting, clay modelling, and more.
Founded by Shri Ajit Gadgil and Dr. Smt. Renu Gadgil, the museum continues to evolve as a vibrant space preserving India's artistic heritage. This year's event unveiled new exhibits alongside its existing collection of paintings, sculptures, textiles, heritage jewellery, and unique crafts like matchbox art and wooden relics.
A PNGS spokesperson emphasized, 'Zapurza isn't just a museum—it's a space that brings stories and creativity to life. The festival's enthusiastic turnout reaffirms the importance of accessible, intergenerational cultural platforms.'
With free exhibitions and performances, and nominally priced workshops, the festival ensured accessibility and inclusion. Activities like live pottery and block-printing demos ran in tandem with guided museum tours and performances by young theatre artists, delighting audiences of all ages.
Zapurza will continue its year-round programming with educational initiatives, artist workshops, and cultural experiences, reinforcing its mission of making art immersive, inclusive, and community-centric.

I am done with remixes, says Tanishk Bagchi

Tanishk Bagchi, famed for remixes, is changing his focus. He wants to create original music now. His work in 'Sky Force' is generating buzz. Bagchi is receiving offers for solo projects. Filmmakers desire consistent sound. He has declined remix offers. Bagchi believes original music is returning. He is ready for this change in the industry. Bollywood composer-singer Tanishk Bagchi , known for chart-topping remixes like Mere Rashke Qamar, Dilbar, and The Humma Song, has decided to move away from recreations and focus on creating original music. With his solo soundtrack for the film Sky Force creating strong buzz, Bagchi is now focusing on more single-composer albums. 'After Sky Force, I'm getting more offers for solo projects. Filmmakers now want a consistent sound for the entire film, not just one song,' he told Mumbai Mirror. Bagchi, often labelled the 'remix king,' clarified that he never resisted the tag. 'Sachin-Jigar and Amit Trivedi did recreations too. My recreations helped films stand out. But I also made originals like Baarish (Half Girlfriend), Bolna'(Kapoor & Sons), and Ve Maahi (Kesari), and won awards for them. Now people take me seriously,' he said. Talking about how the industry's preference is now shifting, he said, 'I've rejected several remix offers in 2024–25. The last one I did was for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Unless the storyline demands it, like a Hera Pheri sequel, I'm done with remixes. The industry is evolving. Original music is making a comeback. And I'm here for it.'

After Aishwarya Rai, Wamiqa Gabbi weighs in on Karan Johar's unbridled support for Alia Bhatt; says she wants to ‘steal' him: ‘To have someone that powerful…'

A few years ago, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan spoke about Alia Bhatt's success and how Karan Johar had been a constant and massive support to her. Now, in a recent interaction, Wamiqa Gabbi has opened up about the same. The Jubilee actor went on to say that she 'wants to steal Karan from Alia Bhatt.' While talking to Nayandeep Rakshit, Wamiqa was asked what she would like to steal from other actresses. When it came to Alia Bhatt, Wamiqa responded with, 'Karan Johar.' She, however, explained her reason and shared that she would love to have the support of somebody as 'powerful' as Karan Johar in the film industry. She said, 'Because he has been her biggest supporter, and I think to have someone that powerful, talented and in that position—and to have that love that you share with that person, to have that person in your life—isn't that a beautiful thing?' Years ago, Aishwarya Rai had also spoken about Karan Johar's unbridled support for Alia Bhatt. She had said in an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, 'I've said this to her also—it's fantastic for you, the kind of support Karan has given to her from the beginning. To have that kind of establishment with you is very comforting. It's not tough to have it laid out for you for the longest time.' She added how Alia only had good opportunities and the best projects to choose from, all thanks to Karan. She said, 'It's great for you as an actor, as there is only good work and good opportunities ahead. What's nice is she's also doing good work along with great opportunities, which are virtually there on her lap, literally, regularly. So, it's nice she is doing good work within that. So kudos.' Karan Johar launched Alia Bhatt, daughter of director Mahesh Bhatt and actor Soni Razdan, in his 2012 film Student Of The Year. He has backed most of her hit projects like 2 States, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Kapoor & Sons, Dear Zindagi, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Raazi, Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Alia also stepped into production with Karan, and they jointly produced her most recent film Jigra.

‘Our Times' movie review: All hail women in this time-hopping romance

Our Times is a Mexican romance-drama with a hint of sci-fi. The movie revolves around Nora, played by singer and regular Latin Grammy Awards host Lucero, who is shown to be the brains behind building a time machine along with her husband Hector, played by Benny Ibarra. Hector sees her as a loving partner, whereas the staff at the National Autonomous University of Mexico sees her more as Hector's assistant. They try for extra funds for their project, and invite the University's dean for a meal. The dean likes the dinner prepared by Nora, but doesn't pay heed to her scientific opinions. After Nora realises how to make the time machine work, the physicist duo travel in time from 1966 to 2025, and face the wonders of the 21st century. The catch is to keep their scientific breakthrough hidden from the world. Nora and Hector learn about new technologies in 2025, try on the latest fashion and even experience wokeism while trying to figure out a way back to the present. Hector finds it hard to adapt to a world full of women with equal rights whereas Nora enjoys the experiences and continues to project her brilliance. By travelling in time, one could imagine that the main character had a complete shift to a multicultural social development. The movie was shot in Mexico City and one can appreciate the production design depicting the city in the 1960s. In 2025, Hector feels as though others see him as Nora's assistant and tries to prove his worth. At a conclave where Nora is the guest of honour on International Women's Day, he cuts into her speech with his 'mansplaining' inputs. His speech doesn't get an applause, but the audience are appalled by his opinions which come out as offensive to women. When the plot is focused on feminism, it reflects the power of women in today's world, in stark contrast to the 60s. Nora finds her voice and is able to accept the progressive mindsets that validate women. She gets to know what patriarchy means and reexamines the old ways. She realises that gender roles have undergone a change and women are able to express themselves and be free. What happens to their character arc, was the most expected. The husband leaves Nora in the future and goes back in time to set her free. He writes a letter saying she is creating her own success and is destined for greater things. The movie ends on a different note though, after she lives a life full of achievements. Their wrinkled faces reminded me of the 90-year-old character in the film Kapoor & Sons, where Rishi Kapoor underwent extensive make-up and looked like someone whose face got swelled up due from a food allergy. To call Our Times a sci-fi film wouldn't do justice to other sci-fi films, as the plot doesn't quite convince the audience. What the film lacks in screenplay, editing, scene continuity, chemistry as well as music, it makes up with its messaging. Our Times is currently streaming on Netflix
