Two Billy T nominated genderfluid powerhouses come together in holy(ish) matrimony to showcase their talents in their award winning cabaret. The show is a raucous hour of music, clown, magic, stand-up, poetry, dance, theatre, mime, and… emus? Our duo flip gender norms through marital satire, imitating a campy heteronormative couple with reversed gender roles; they skillfully weave this dynamic through the show creating an outlandishly silly and lovable couple. Unapologetically queer, and unabashedly themselves, Delightfool is a joyous and heartwarming celebration of friendship and self-acceptance.
Our stars gravitated towards each other while performing in the Pōneke comedy circuit. They came together like a supernova with their debut season of Delightfool in the Wellington Fringe Festival 2024 winning the Auckland tour ready award. After their Auckland Fringe 2024 season they frolicked away with the Outstanding theatre, Outstanding Performance (Collective), and Dunedin Fringe tour ready awards. The duo are now performing in the NZICF as 2025 Billy T Nominees. With many aforementioned skills under their belts they showcase them in a cabaret styled comedy show, giving both moments to shine on their own but ultimately come together to create a chemistry unlike any other.

International Circus Extravaganza Debuts In Tauranga, Taranaki And The Hawke's Bay
An international, high-profile circus spectacle will be coming to NZ this year for the first time, taking to the stage in three provincial cities. Cirque Bon Bon, which has been likened to Cirque du Soleil, is set to delight the crowds in Taranaki, Tauranga, and Hawke's Bay thanks to a collaboration between three leading Arts Festivals - Reimagine Festival (Taranaki), Tauranga Arts Festival, and Hawke's Bay Arts Festival. The just-announced NZ visit, in October, will be hot on the heels of sold-out tours in Australia, where this talented circus troupe thrilled multi-generational audiences. Tauranga Arts Festival General Manager Sarah Cotter says there's great excitement wrapped around this festival offering as Cirque Bon Bon is a high-octane international act featuring a fusion of circus, dance and comedy. Plus, it's suitable for all ages. 'Get your tickets now and start getting excited as Cirque Bon Bon will burst on the stage to deliver an extravaganza of mind-bending contortion, sensational dancers, gravity-defying acrobatic stunts and more than a few laughs. Tauranga, Taranaki and Hawke's Bay - and visitors to those areas - should prepare to be wowed,' Sarah enthuses. Cirque Bon Bon has been likened to Cirque du Soleil for good reason. It has been created by former Cirque du Soleil director Ash Jacks and choreographer Julieann Nugent. In the words of Ash: 'We've used every last trick in the book to make this show something you just can't look away from.' The excited Tauranga, Taranaki and Hawke's Bay arts festival organisers say in the past people from the provinces had travelled to the bigger cities to see circus spectacles. Now the magic is coming to their cities. Cirque Bon Bon will be hosted by the 'outrageously funny' Mario, Queen of the Circus. Under his watch, daring skill will blend with striking style in a fast-paced celebration of what's been described as 'a celebration of beauty and bravery with a killer soundtrack and breathtaking visuals'. The Quest Is On To Find Wellington's Next Comedy Stars
The capital's premier open mic comedy competition, the Wellington Raw Comedy Quest, returns for 2025. A stepping stone for many New Zealand comedians, the Raw Comedy Quest offers the chance to witness the rising stars in stand-up comedy before they hit the big time. The first heat kicks off in Wellington on 3 July at Fringe Bar, MC'd by 2020 Quest finalist and 2025 Billy T nominee Lesa Macleod-Whiting. Subsequent heats will follow every Thursday from 10 July – 7 August at Fringe Bar. The top comedians from each week will go head to head at the semifinals on 13 & 20 August, before the Wellington final takes place on 29 August at Hannah Playhouse, with MC Justine Smith. The Wellington Raw Comedy Quest is held annually by the Humorous Arts Trust, who will be celebrating 15 years of supporting local comedy this August. This year also marks the 15th year Humorous Arts have run Wellington Raw. Over this time, many winners and finalists have gone on to carve out successful careers in comedy. Last year's winner, Liv Ward, went on to become a finalist in the National Raw Comedy Quest, before also taking out Wellington's Best Newcomer at the NZ Comedy Festival this year. 2022 winner Hoani Hotene, who first kicked off his comedy career with Humorous Arts Trust's Raw Meat Monday (Wellington's longest-running open mic comedy night), became the coveted 2025 Billy T Award winner. They aren't the only successes to come out of Pōneke from the Comedy Quest, with other winners including the likes of Janaye Henry, Maria Williams, Gabby Anderson and Orin Ruaine-Prattley. Festival offers ‘unique opportunity'

PHOTO: SUPPLIED The Dunedin Fringe Arts Trust is gearing up to host a new-look New Zealand Young Writers Festival in September. And to get the ball rolling, the call has gone out for young writers aged 15-35 years to put their hands up to be part of the festival as presenters and to take part in a three-day wānanga beforehand. The NZ Young Writers Festival, to be held on September 13-14 this year, is a literary-focused festival celebrating a broad range of writing. Dunedin Fringe co-director Kate Schrader said the wānanga, which would be held at Puketeraki Marae on September 10-12, would be a ''unique opportunity for young writers to connect and build skills''. ''In the 11th year of the festival, we are leaning into the model of reciprocal learning, and will be holding workshops at the marae and during the festival,'' she said. Holding the wa ¯nanga was the brainchild of Dunedin Fringe leadership team members Jessica Latton (Nga ¯ti Wheke, Waitaha, Ka ¯i Tahu) and Anthony Deaker (Ka ¯i Tahu), who would be involved and would be taking on the roles of tuakana (guides) for the festival. Rather than a curator, this year's festival will be led by three newly appointed young writer tuakana, Josiah Morgan (Nga ¯i Tahu, Nga ¯ti Maniapoto), Ruby Macomber (Rotuma/ Nga ¯puhi) and Rauhina Scott-Fyfe (Ka ¯i Tahu, Ka ¯ti Ma ¯moe, Nga ¯i Pa ¯keha ¯), all of whom have had long involvement with the festival. PHOTO: SUPPLIED Ms Schrader also announced that the New Zealand Young Writers Festival Young Writer in Residence for 2025 is Dunedin writer and performer Nick Tipa (Ka ¯i Tahu), who will be based at the Robert Lord Cottage for the duration of the residency. ''We are very excited that Nick, our young writer in residence, is a local person and is working on a project that is very connected to place,'' she said. The NZ Young Writers Festival would offer fewer events due to funding constraints, but would continue to celebrate a range of writing, including poetry, playwriting, songwriting, short fiction, novels, zines, podcasts and more, Ms Schrader said. ''As part of the festival's public programme, there will be a chance to hear from all the writers who have participated in the wa ¯nanga,'' she said. ''There will be a mix-andmingle event, which will include readings, giving young writers the opportunity to step into the spotlight.'' There were 15 spots available for young writers to actively participate in the festival, and expressions of interest were open until this Sunday, Ms Schrader said.
