London-Delhi Air India Flight Delayed For Over 11 Hours
Air India's flight from London to the national capital on Friday was delayed by more than 11 hours and will now depart on Saturday morning.
"Flight AI2018 from London Heathrow to Delhi on 1 August is delayed due to the late arrival of incoming aircraft and is now scheduled to depart at 0800 hrs local time on 2 August. The delayed arrival resulted in the crew coming under the mandatory flight duty time limitation norms as well as night curfew restricting operations at London airport," Air India said in a statement.
Passengers have been offered the option of full refunds on cancellation or complimentary rescheduling of their tickets.
The flight was originally scheduled to depart at around 2035 hours on August 1, according to information available on flight tracking website Flightradar24.com.
Details about the number of passengers was not immediately available. The flight will be operated with a Dreamliner Boeing 787-9.
On Thursday, the London-bound Dreamliner aborted takeoff at the Delhi airport due to a technical issue and an alternate Dreamliner operated the flight to London.
"Flight AI2017, operating from Delhi to London on July 31, returned to the bay due to a suspected technical issue. The cockpit crew decided to discontinue the takeoff run following standard operating procedures and brought the aircraft back for precautionary checks," the airline said in a statement on Thursday and added that an alternative aircraft was being deployed.
In the statement on Friday, Air India said the passengers are being duly informed about the revised departure time.
"Our ground colleagues in London will make every effort to minimise the inconvenience caused to any passenger by offering hotel accommodation and refreshments. Full refunds on cancellation or complimentary rescheduling will also be offered to passengers based on their preference," it added.
Generally, the duration of the London-Delhi flight is around 10 hours.

Air India privatisation a disaster, says Manish Tewari
Congress leader Manish Tewari called the government's decision to privatise Air India and transfer its ownership to the Tata Group a 'disaster' over complaints about cancellations and delays, and described the airline as a 'management mess'. 'The Government of India should take Air India back from the Tata Group. They have run the airline into the ground,' he wrote in a post on X on Friday (August 1, 2025), calling the privatisation exercise a 'disaster'. He lamented the cancellations and delays by Air India 'at the drop of a hat', and claimed that these were happening without any explanations being offered by the airline. In a reference to appointees from Tata Group companies at the airline, he remarked that 'pilots and crew tell me that people who grow tea in Tata Tea, make steel in Tata Steel, make cars in Tata Motors are running Air India' and labelled the airline as a complete management mess. Tata Group took over Air India in January 2022 after it won the bid invited by the government for selling its 100% stake in the erstwhile national carrier. The airline has been at the centre of public and regulatory scrutiny since the June 12 crash in Ahmedabad that killed 260 people, the deadliest crash in the country in three decades, and the first involving a Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Kumar Mittal brings resolution to designate Pak ‘state sponsor of terrorism'
Chandigarh: AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Kumar Mittal on Saturday tabled a resolution in the House to designate Pakistan as a 'state sponsor of terrorism'. The resolution was introduced as part of a parliamentary intervention during the ongoing monsoon session. In a press statement, Mittal said he recounted Pakistan's decades-long policy of using terrorism as a tool of foreign policy. Citing documented instances from the 1947 invasion of Jammu & Kashmir to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, the resolution called for sweeping measures, including diplomatic isolation, economic sanctions, and a review of bilateral agreements like the Indus Water Treaty. The resolution further underscored Pakistan's direct role in key terror incidents that shook India, such as the 2001 Parliament attack, 26/11 Mumbai attacks, 2016 Uri attack, and the 2019 Pulwama bombing, while also pointing to its global footprint in events like the 9/11 attacks and the 2015 Paris carnage. The resolution urged the govt of India to introduce legislation designating Pakistan as a state sponsor of terrorism and enforce a complete freeze on economic and trade relations. This also includes Pakistan's re-inclusion in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list and further lobbying for their inclusion in the black list.
