Gibson will stay at an undisclosed private venue in the county with family members, according to event organiser Eric Lawlor.
Lawlor himself has a special attachment to the movie as his late brother Sean played Malcolm Wallace in the hit movie.
"This news is just fantastic," said Lawlor.
"Dave O'Hara, who also starred in Braveheart, was a personal friend of my brother Sean and so he got in touch with Mel and persuaded him to come to Ireland. He said 'Mel, you gotta do this for the 30th anniversary of Braveheart' – and so he is coming for the weekend.

"The timing was perfect as he will leave Trim and travel on to Rome where he is making his latest film."
During the visit Gibson will catch up with a large number of other cast members from Braveheart, who will also be in the town for the event. He will attend a number of concerts and the screening of the film on Saturday night before leaving Meath on the Sunday.
Since the making of Braveheart, Gibson has kept in touch with the historic town and was awarded the 'Freeman of Trim' status. He also sent a message to the town on the 25th anniversary of the movie.

Gibson is due to sign 200 posters on Saturday, August 9th, at Trim Castle Hotel in aid of the Irish Equity Benevolent Fund, but Lawlor warns timing is too tight for people to spend time with the actor.
"It will be a quick in and out here as we have to get 200 posters signed in two hours but there will be, no doubt, other opportunities to get a selfie with him," he laughed.
The King John's Summer Prom Festival is set to be an event-packed weekend with performances by actor Patrick Bergin, local singer Leah Barniville, and the Irish Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Niall O'Sullivan.

Michael J. Fox's forgotten fling with Nancy McKeon sparked friendship with future Melrose Place star
Michael J. Fox has long been pals with Doug Savant, as they met via The Facts of Life star Nancy McKeon, who Fox dated in the mid-1980s. Savant, 61, chat about his longtime friendship with Fox, 64, to People at Lifetime's Summer Soirée event, held at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel July 16. Savant spoke with the outlet in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the August 1985 release of the comedy Teen Wolf. Savant - who would find fame playing Matt Fielding on the nighttime soap Melrose Place in the 1990s - appeared in the film as a rookie actor opposite Fox. Fox was one of the biggest stars of the 1980s with his roles as Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties and time traveling teen Marty McFly in the Back To The Future franchise. In the movie, Savant portrayed of Brad, a classmate and basketball teammate of Fox's lead character, Scott Howard, a teenage high school student who had the ability to transform into a wolf. Savant expounded to the outlet about his connection to Fox through McKeon - and how it tied into his Southern California roots. 'I grew up in Burbank, California, and I went to school with Philip McKeon and Nancy McKeon – Nancy McKeon from Facts of Life and Phil McKeon from Alice,' Savant said. 'And we were dear friends.' Savant said that he didn't tell Fox about his connection with McKeon, 59, specifically in an effort not to bother the star. 'I just wanted to do my job and be professional, but I had not said anything, said Savant, who also is known for playing Tom Scavo on the hit ABC series Desperate Housewives. Savant said that a week into production, Fox figured out the connection and confronted him about it. 'He went home and Nancy asked, "Who's in the movie with you? Let me see the call sheet." And she said, "Doug Savant? We were family friends."' Savant added, 'One day, Michael comes to work, he says, "Why didn't you tell me that?" He was upset with me that I had not told him.' After that, a fast friendship formed, according to Savant, who said that he 'had a great time' working with the beloved actor on Teen Wolf. Savant said that he looks back with nostalgia on his work on the motion picture: 'I have such great memories from that film.' He added of the movie's longevity: ' The movie has had a stunning lifetime, and people love it. 'They made sequels, and it resonated. So I'm just grateful to have been a small part of it. Savant said the movie was on TV while he was working on a new project and jarred his nostalgia. He recalled: 'The craft service person would play movies, and he puts on Teen Wolf. And there I was doing my job on a new show, but watching Teen Wolf in the craft service trailer.' Fox in 1985 met actress Tracy Pollan, who worked with him on Family Ties, but 'their relationship remained platonic, however, as they were both dating other people at the time,' People reported. They commenced dating after working together again on the 1988 movie Bright Lights, Big City, and married that same year. Fox and Pollan are parents to four adult children: son Sam Michael, 36, twin daughters Aquinnah Kathleen and Schuyler Frances, 30, and daughter Esmé Annabelle, 23. The Back To The Future star was 29 in 1991 when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and went public with the information in 1998. He has spent the years since working tirelessly on charitable efforts toward funding research with a cure in mind.

Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay's ex-fling DISSES her new tell-all memoir
Scheana Shay 's former fling, Jesse Metcalfe, dismissed her new tell-all memoir in an interview this weekend. While speaking with Us Weekly on Saturday, Jesse said he has not read her new book. The tome, titled My Good Side, was published on July 22 and contains never-before-heard stories from the former Vanderpump Rules star, 40. Scheana writes about her fleeting romance with the 46-year-old heartthrob inside the pages of her tell-all, but the release was apparently not on his radar until very recently. 'I just became aware of the book, like, a couple days ago,' Jesse claimed to the publication. 'So, no, I haven't read it yet.' When the reality TV personality dated the actor in 2007, she said 'it felt like I was living a real-life fantasy with this guy I'd watched on TV and in movies for years.' According to Us Weekly, Scheana also wrote that she had a 'great time' during their romance. 'Our relationship didn't happen right away. Soon after we first met, he went to rehab, so we started hanging out often only after he finished,' she claimed. Scheana wrote that Metcalfe took her on a date to the Cloverfield red carpet premiere. 'I then spent my 22nd birthday at dinner with him. I vividly remember sticking to water and Red Bull all night as a way of supporting his sobriety,' she noted. Despite not having read her book, Jesse said he appreciates that Scheana spoke positively about him. 'It's always nice when people speak highly of you,' he told the outlet. 'It's better than people speaking ill of you.' Days earlier, the entertainer reacted to his former flame mentioning him when she appeared as a guest on Tori Spelling's MisSpelling podcast. 'She spoke highly of me, which was nice. [It was a] long time ago, 20 years ago. We were dating. I mean, it was — overall — it was pretty brief, but we were seeing each other on a regular basis,' he said, per Us Weekly. At the time, Jesse quipped that he's made it a point to keep Scheana's memoir 'away' from his current girlfriend, Helene Immel, whom he's been seeing since 2023. Back in January, Scheana announced her literary effort and said readers could expect 'tea' on her ex-boss Lisa Vanderpump. Another relationship mentioned in My Good Side is Schena's alleged affair with actor Eddie Cibrian in 2006 — which occurred while he was married to future Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville. Shay claims in the pages of My Good Side that Vanderpump knew more about the alleged situation with Cibrian than she initially let on. The Bravo star claims Vanderpump purposefully put her and Glanville together on screen in a Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills episode in order to 'launch [Vanderpump's] TV empire' — which includes the RHOBH spinoff series Vanderpump Rules and Vanderpump Villa.
