Clemson's Cade Klubnik, Antonio Williams make Maxwell Award preseason watch list
Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik and wide receiver Antonio Williams were two of 17 players from the ACC to be included on the Maxwell Award preseason watch list. The Maxwell Award is given annually to the most outstanding player in college football.
Klubnik turned in his best season to date in 2024 by throwing for 3,639 yards and 36 touchdowns to six interceptions in 14 games. He led Clemson to a 10-win season, an ACC championship, and a berth in the College Football Playoff.
Like Klubnik, Williams is coming off his finest season after hauling in 75 catches for 904 yards (12.1 AVG) with 11 touchdowns as Clemson's leading receiver. He made a season-high 13 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers' 24-20 come-from-behind win at Pitt on Nov. 16.
Williams also rushed seven times for 101 yards, including a 36-yard touchdown run in Clemson's 48-31 win over Virginia on Oct. 19.

"Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on November 11, 2025, while the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled on November 25, 2025. The winner of the 89th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 11, 2025. The formal presentations of the Maxwell Award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards on Friday, March 13, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia."

Is Texas A&M's star running back being overlooked on the national stage?
Despite entering the 2025 season with one of the most experienced and talented rosters in the country, Texas A&M isn't nationally viewed as a contender for the College Football Playoff, mainly due to the late-season collapse that occurred after star running back Le'Veon Moss was lost for the season during the first half against South Carolina. After losing to the Gamecocks, Texas A&M finished 8-5, including the season-finale loss to rival Texas in the first matchup in more than a decade. While the offseason negativity among the fan base has slowly dissipated, the national focus on the Aggies' star-studded roster is bizarre. Still, in a world where Arch Manning is now Texas's starting quarterback, it's hard to share the spotlight. Outside of starting quarterback Marcel Reed needing to improve in the pocket, the return of Le'Veon Moss in the backfield, paired with Amari Daniels, Reuben Owens, and EJ Smith all returning, Texas A&M's running game could be the best unit in the SEC, starting, and ending with Moss staying healthy throughout the year. On Tuesday, On3 host J.D. PicKell described his confusion regarding the lack of Moss's national coverage after averaging over six yards per carry before his injury during the 2024 season, racking up 765 yards and ten touchdowns before his injury. "Le'Veon Moss is the best running back that averaged six yards per carry before he got hurt, that is getting zero love in the preseason" PicKell stated. "I think you can probably bet Tennessee to lead the conference in rushing based on how they've run the ball the last couple of years, but if you're not betting Tennessee, I might bet Texas A&M will lead the conference in rushing." PicKell went on to note that OC Collin Klein's offense is now better suited to Marcel Reed's skill set compared to last season, and how that will impact the offense in 2025. "Marcel Reed now have the offense built to his skill set, which it wasn't this time last year, built for Conner Weigman last year where they adjusted on the fly, and Collin Klein, who was a mobile quarterback back when he played, so he's calling plays similar to his skillset in Marcel Reed." Suppose Texas A&M's running game finds its footing, combined with Marcel Reed's ability to run the ball and make plays out of structure in the passing game. In that case, I expect the Aggies to be one of the top offenses in the SEC and one of the most formidable opponents to prepare for on a weekly basis. Auburn working to flip three-star DL from Mountain West program
Auburn could add a key name to its 2026 haul after extending an offer to a UNLV pledge. Auburn football could boost its 2026 recruiting haul soon with the addition of a three-star defensive lineman from Texas. Auburn defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams extended an offer to three-star DL Isaiah Broughton this week, and could soon see a positive result. Following the offer, Sam Spiegelman of Rivals submitted a prediction that favored Auburn flipping Broughton from his current pledge to coach Dan Mullen and the UNLV Rebels. According to Spiegelman's report, Broughton committed to UNLV last month, choosing the Rebels over Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, Texas State, and others. However, with Auburn becoming Broughton's most notable offer, mutual interest is beginning to grow between both parties. Broughton is the No. 126 defensive lineman for the 2026 cycle, and is the No. 162 recruit from Texas according to 247Sports. Should the forecasted flip occur, Broughton would become the Tigers' first defensive line commit and its fifth defensive commitment of the cycle, joining Jaquez Wilkes, Hezekiah Harris, Adam Balogoun-Ali, and Wayne Henry. He suffered an injury that hampered his ability and availability, but he completed 71.7 percent of his passes for 475 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions, while also running for 150 yards and four scores. Heading into the college football offseason, adding help at the quarterback position was a clear priority for Ferentz and the Hawkeyes. They were able to do just that. Hank Brown was one addition in the transfer portal from the Auburn Tigers, giving the team a potential starting quarterback next season and the following year. However, it was another transfer portal addition that brought in Iowa's starting quarterback. Ferentz was able to land a transfer commitment from former South Dakota State quarterback Mark Gronowski. He is coming off of a 2024 season with the Jackrabbits that saw him throw for 2,721 yards, 23 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, while completing 60.9 percent of his passes. With that being said, Gronowski has received a major honor before the start of the 2025 season. He was named to the Maxwell Award watchlist, which is an award that is given yearly to college football's most outstanding player. Simply being included on the watchlist is a big deal. Should he be able to play up to the level that seems to be expected of him, Iowa could be a team to watch in the Big Ten.
