Several Routes Temporarily Closed For IJM Allianz Duo Highway Challenge 2025 Run
Kuala Lumpur acting police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said an estimated 13,000 runners will compete in the seventh edition of the race, which will start and end in front of the Sunway Pyramid shopping centre.
The Aug 3 race comprises four categories - 42.195 kilometres (km) full marathon; 21km half-marathon; 10km and 5km.
He added that full marathon participants will race along both major expressways, beginning by heading towards Templer and Kuchai Lama before turning back to the starting point at Sunway Pyramid.
"The affected routes on BESRAYA include Kuchai Lama, Sungai Besi, Salak Selatan, Plaza Tol Loke Yew, Jalan Istana, Jalan Cheras, Pandan Indah, Maluri, Jalan Pandan 1 and the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2).
"The affected routes on the NPE include the Kampung Pasir interchange, Pantai Sentral Park, Kuchai Maju, Sungai Besi and the Kuchai U-turn,' he said in a statement today.
Mohamed Usuf Jan advised the public to plan their journey, use alternative routes and comply with instructions from police personnel on duty along the race route.
"Police personnel and highway traffic staff will ensure smooth traffic flow and safety during the event. Any inconvenience caused is regretted, and the cooperation from all parties is appreciated,' he said.
Meanwhile, according to the race website racexasia.com, the 42km run is slated to begin at 3 am; the 21km run at 5 am; the 10km run at 5.30 am; and the 5km run at 6.50 am.

The 19-year-old from Miri delivered a commanding performance to secure a nine-shot victory at the PGM Royal Pahang Championship, held at the Pahang Royal Golf Club, finishing with a three-day total of 14-under-par 202. Mirabel was in control from start to finish in the 54-hole tournament, opening with a 67, then surging ahead with a brilliant 65 on Wednesday to take a five-shot lead into the final round. She closed with a composed two-under 70 on Thursday and was the only player in the women's field to shoot under par in all three rounds. This marks Mirabel's second career win on the PGM Tour, her first being at the Fortuner Cup in June 2023, when she was still an amateur. The win also earned her RM10,000 in prize money. Veteran pro Aretha Pan finished runner-up with a five-under 211 (68-69-74), while fellow Sarawakian Zulaikah Nasser claimed third place at even-par 216 (73-72-71). Plans To Retrieve Dahlmeier's Body From Pakistan Peak Abandoned
ISLAMABAD, July 31 (Bernama-dpa) -- Rescuers in Pakistan abandoned plans to retrieve the body of twice Olympic biathlon champion Laura Dahlmeier of Germany to respect her last wish and avoid risking more lives, fellow climber Thomas Huber told dpa on Thursday. Dahlmeier, 31, was swept away in a rockfall close to the summit of the 6,069 metres Laila Peak in the Karakoram mountain range on Monday, her management and local officials said. She was declared dead on Wednesday evening after air and ground operations to rescue her from the Laila Peak in the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) region was not successful. bootstrap slideshow Pakistani officials said on Wednesday that rescue teams led by international climbers and local high-altitude porters would launch a new operation to retrieve her body.
