Soccer-Premier League clubs agree to extend price cap on away tickets
(Reuters) - Premier League clubs unanimously agreed on Tuesday to extend the current 30 pounds ($40.56) cap on away ticket prices for a 10th season, the league said in a statement.
Since the price cap was introduced in 2016, away game attendance has risen from 82% to 91%. The cumulative away attendance for the 380 matches during the 2024-25 season was 953,420.
"The Premier League and clubs recognise the additional costs associated with fans following their team during the season, and the incredible atmospheres they create at matches," the league said in a statement.
This comes after fans of several Premier League clubs united under the Football Supporters' Association campaign "Stop Exploiting Loyalty", prompting a ticket price freeze next season from clubs like Liverpool, Brentford, and Manchester City.
The new season of England's top flight will begin on August 15 and conclude on May 24, 2026.

(AFP pic) LONDON : Chelsea are set to add England under-21 international winger Jamie Gittens to their forward line after agreeing to a deal with Borussia Dortmund, according to reports on Saturday. Sky Sports said an agreement has been reached between the clubs, who are both competing at the Club World Cup in the United States. The Blues will reportedly pay up to €65 million (US$76 million) for the 20-year-old, who had been in Chelsea's academy as a youth player. Gittens eventually moved to Manchester City's academy before signing for Dortmund in 2022. He made 107 appearances for the German giants, scoring 17 goals, 12 of which came in the Bundesliga and Champions League last season. Chelsea were in the market to bolster their wide options after refusing the chance to sign Manchester United's Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal after his loan spell at Stamford Bridge. (AFP pic) LONDON : Chelsea's forward options could be bolstered by the time they face Palmeiras in the Club World Cup quarter-finals on Friday after reportedly agreeing to a deal with Brighton for Joao Pedro. The Athletic reported the Brazilian international is on his way to the US for a medical before joining up with the Chelsea squad after terms were struck for a transfer in excess of £50 million (US$69 million). Pedro, who joined Brighton for a then club record £30 million from Watford two years ago, scored 30 goals in 70 appearances for the Seagulls. However, the 23-year-old missed Brighton's final two matches of the season after being dropped due to a training ground altercation with team-mate Jan Paul van Hecke.
