#SHOWBIZ: KRU: Mum is happiest to see us reunite as a pop trio
KUALA LUMPUR: KRU brothers Datuk Norman, Datuk Yusry and Edry Abdul Halim have just launched their comeback album titled Kaset.
They are delighted to reunite as a pop group but their mother Zarina Abdul Wahab appears to be the "happiest person in town".
At the launch and listening session of the album yesterday, Norman said: "Our mother is overjoyed to see us get back together to produce Kaset.
"The recording took place at our sister's house because our parents live with her."
The studio album which comes 22 years after their last one Krunomena in 2003, contains 10 songs which bring back nostalgia of their early days in the 1990s.
Norman, 53, Yusry, 52, and Edry, 49, revealed that Kaset was produced in cassette and compact disc (CD) formats for their hardcore fans to make into a collection, as well as being streamed on digital platforms by new generation fans.
Norman said: "For fans who want to get this album in cassette form, we only printed 300 units and it is limited. But we came up with approximately 3,000 units of the CD."
Norman admitted that selling 1,000 CD units was quite difficult today.
The brothers will also be selling their album's CDs during the GENKRU Concert at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil on May 3, 4 and 10.
The songs included in the Kaset album, which is also KRU's 15th album in 30 years, are Hambadansa, One More Time, Remaja Selamanya, GOAT, Selamat Hari Lahir, Voodoo, Sampai Sini Saja, High Maintenance, Ciptaan Sempurna and Agung.

Influencer Tanner Martin announces his own death at age 30
The social media star added that his decision to share the news himself was to allow his wife, Shay Wright, 'some time to grieve' without needing to address the public. Photos: Tanner Martin/Instagram Influencer Tanner Martin has died at the age of 30 following a five-year battle with colon cancer, announcing his death himself in a prerecorded video on Instagram. 'Hey, it's me Tanner, if you're watching this, I am dead,' the influencer said in the video shared on Wednesday. 'I had a heck of a life. I decided to make this video announcing my death, cause I saw someone did that like a year or so ago, and I think it's a good opportunity to get all your thoughts out.' The social media star added that his decision to share the news himself was to allow his wife, Shay Wright, 'some time to grieve' without needing to address the public. 'I wanted to make a video where she could just post it so that you guys would know, and she could take a break as long as she needed to from social media,' he said. Martin's death comes just over a month after the couple welcomed their daughter AmyLou, also known as Jiaozi, on May 15. 'I would ask at this time if you could continue to offer prayers and stuff for my sweetheart Shay and my baby girl Jiaozi,' Martin said. In another post, Tanner appears in a video with AmyLou lying by his side as he makes one final request to fans. 'I just wanted to ask you guys if you would help me raise Jiaozi,' he said. 'We're gonna start a GoFundMe and the GoFundMe is to help replace what I would be there for.' As of Thursday afternoon, the GoFundMe had already hit more than $590,000, surpassing its original $250,000 goal. The page notes the money will be used to buy 'a modest starter home' for Martin's family. Before signing off, the influencer said he had one last message for his supporters: 'I love you guys. Be kind to each other, see the good intent in other people and you guys will just have a happy life.' – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom split after nine years
Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry have been engaged since February 2019 and have a four-year-old daughter. Photo: Katy Perry/Instagram After nine years together, American singer Katy Perry and British actor Orlando Bloom have parted ways. They have been engaged since February 2019 and have a four-year-old daughter. The 40-year-old singer of Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) was first romantically linked to Bloom in January 2016, when they were seen at several Golden Globe after-parties together. They went public with their relationship on Instagram in May that year, after attending the Cannes Film Festival. They were set to wed in 2020, but their plans were foiled by the Covid-19 pandemic. Bloom, 48, recently appeared in Orlando Bloom: To The Edge (2024), which he executive-produced. The three-episode TV series sees him going on a journey of self-discovery through activities such as freediving and rock climbing. The Pirates Of The Caribbean (2003 to 2017) star also has a 14-year-old son with his ex-wife, Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr. Perry was previously married to British comedian Russell Brand between October 2010 and December 2011. She is now in Adelaide for her The Lifetimes Tour, which will wrap up in December. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network

Miley Cyrus blamed for dad Billy Ray's smoking habit on 'Hannah Montana' set
Miley Cyrus says she caught some flack for her dad's pot habit on the set of the Disney Channel series 'Hannah Montana'. Photo: TNS Miley Cyrus says she caught some flack for her dad's pot habit on the set of the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana . The Grammy winner, 32, shed some light on her child star days while appearing on Thursday's (June 19) episode of Sorry We're Cyrus , the podcast hosted by her mum, Tish, and big sister Brandi. Asked about an amusing 'core memory' from making the teen sitcom co-starring her father, Miley said: 'Dad smoking pot and everyone blaming me for it.' Tish said she remembered the drama, noting that once everyone realised it was actually Billy Ray toking on the set, people on the show kept calling her to say 'B-Ray was smoking pot.' She said she refused to believe it at the time, and tried blaming Miley's co-star Mitchel Musso instead. 'It was Mitchel Musso! It was both,' Miley replied with a laugh. During the episode, the famous family also addressed when Tish 'mysteriously' – as Miley teased – unfollowed her on Instagram last month, prompting speculation about the state of their relationship. Miley at the time dismissed the rumour mill, saying that though she 'rarely' bothers weighing in on the grapevine, her mum is her 'best friend' and the two 'are too tight for anything to ever come between us.' Much like Tish responded to one of her own followers, Cyrus said the move was a 'simple, coincidental and uninteresting' mistake, despite occurring just hours after Billy Ray broadcast how excited he was to see his daughter. They had their own dust-up in July 2024, when he apparently called Miley and Tish 'skanks' in texts and audio obtained by multiple outlets. About a year prior, Tish and youngest daughter Noah – who reportedly had a relationship with her new stepdad Dominic Purcell, before he wed her mum – put their own reported feud to bed. – New York Daily News
