Victims show 'encouraging signs' after Michigan Walmart stabbing rampage, hospital says

Fox News15 hours ago
The 11 victims wounded in a random stabbing spree at a Walmart in Michigan have shown positive signs of recovery, medical officials said Sunday, as questions loom over the identity of the 42-year-old suspect authorities have detained.
Munson Healthcare, northern Michigan's largest healthcare system, said seven victims were in fair condition and four were in serious condition. Their ages were not immediately provided.
"Over the past 12 hours, we've seen encouraging signs of recovery among our patients," the hospital said in an update.
The statement praised the hospital's team of physicians, surgeons, nurses, clinicians and support staff who have focused on treating the victims.
"Their unwavering commitment and compassion are a testament to the strength and resilience of our healthcare community," it said.
Few details were known about the suspect on Sunday morning.
Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea said a 42-year-old man, acting alone, entered the Traverse City store and used a folding knife to stab nearly a dozen people.
The suspect, who authorities have not publicly identified as of Sunday morning, was taken into custody without injury within minutes. Citizens in Walmart also helped apprehend the man and treat victims.
Shea said the man "appears" to be a Michigan resident, but when asked if he could specify the area the suspect was from, Shea said he would "rather not comment."
Tiffany DeFell, 36, who lives in Honor, about 25 miles from Traverse City, told the Associated Press that she witnessed the chaos unfold from the store's parking lot.
"It was really scary. Me and my sister were just freaking out," she said. "This is something you see out of the movies. It's not what you expect to see where you're living."
FBI agents have responded to provide support, Deputy Director Dan Bongino wrote on social media.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Walmart spokesperson Joe Pennington said that "violence like this is unacceptable."
"Our thoughts are with those who were injured and we're thankful for the swift action of first responders," Pennington wrote in a statement. "We'll continue working closely with law enforcement during their investigation."

Possible shooting at Encino home sparks outrage amongst neighbors in midst of crime wave

Just two weeks after "American Idol" producer Robin Kaye and her husband were shot and killed in their Encino home, another possible shooting next door has outraged neighbors who are struggling to feel safe in the midst of a concerning wave of crime affecting their neighborhood. Hundreds of people flooded the White Oak Avenue home for a party that had to be broken up by police late Saturday night, shown in cell phone video captured by neighbors. They say that the house has been a constant issue, and despite complaints, nothing has yet been done. "This party house would've been shut down in Beverly Hills, would've been shut down in Burbank, but in LA you can break the law and there's no consequences," said Rob Glushon, the president of the Encino Property Owners Association. "We're very supportive of LAPD, but honestly they need to be tougher. This is an example of when something gets out of control because the law doesn't get enforced when the problem starts." Related: "American Idol" executive and husband killed with their own gun, LA County DA says Police were called to the home for reports of a disturbance, but they said there was no evidence of a shooting upon investigation. Community members say that the homeowner has been cited several times in the past for hosting loud and unruly parties, but they want the city attorney to file misdemeanor criminal charges against him, as they believe he's been renting the property out for parties. It's just the latest issue in a growing trend that has seen the neighborhood plagued by break-ins, burglaries, robberies and murder. A community meeting days after the deadly double-shooting brought hundreds of concerned neighbors in front of law enforcement and city leaders who said changes were being made. Hours later, two homes were targeted in attempted burglaries, including one at a home belonging to former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Teddi Mellencamp. Neighbors say that that the party house is emblematic of Encino's problems in dealing with lawlessness. "That just kind of talks to the issue that we have in this whole community, where there's so many awful things going on, the burglaries and party houses and even murders," said Roy Nwaisser, president of the Encino Neighborhood Council. "It really does break my heart." "We are gathered together to learn and practice and exercise how to protect yourself inside your house and how to use guns," said one woman who wished not to be identified. "Most people I know here, they purchase the guns right now." Their new steps come at the same time that LAPD says they've increased patrols in the area, included officers on horseback. In coming days, residents will join a zoom meeting with Mayor Karen Bass, their Los Angeles City Council representative and more LAPD officers to give a list of demands.

Marcus Morris Sr.'s mugshot released after Florida arrest

The post Marcus Morris Sr.'s mugshot released after Florida arrest appeared first on ClutchPoints. Former NBA forward Marcus Morris Sr. was arrested on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Broward County, Florida, on a felony fraud charge related to allegedly writing a bad check. According to TMZ and local booking records, Morris is being held without bond due to an out-of-state warrant. Authorities have since released his mugshot, but no further official comment or case details have been made public. The 35-year-old Morris, a 13-year NBA veteran, most recently played in the 2024 playoffs with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He started one game during the injury-plagued postseason run. Before that, he briefly signed a training camp deal with the New York Knicks in September 2024 but was waived within two weeks. Drafted 14th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets, Morris carved out a lengthy and productive NBA career. He played for eight franchises, the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers. Over 783 career games, he averaged 12.0 points on 43.5% shooting (37.7% from three), along with 4.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Morris also played a significant role in the Boston Celtics' 2018 Eastern Conference Finals appearance, further cementing his reputation as a reliable two-way forward. Off the court, Marcus Morris transitioned into media following the 2023–24 season, making appearances on ESPN shows like First Take and Get Up alongside his twin brother, Markieff Morris. The brothers, renowned for their close bond since their college days at Kansas, have followed nearly identical paths through basketball and media. In 2015, both Morris twins and Gerald Bowman were charged with aggravated assault in a separate incident, all charges were eventually dropped.
