Following successful pilots, the solution has delivered increased authorisation rates by more than 2% in addition to the 3% improvement achieved with its rule-based routing.
Payments are routed through acquirers, and choosing the most suitable one leads to increased authorisation and optimised costs. Worldline's enhanced routing solution now leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to analyse transaction data and select optimal payment routes in real time to further uplift conversion rates. Some of the pilot merchants experiencing an uplift of over 2% in authorisation rates (on top of 3% with rule-based routing). The existing rules-based solution routes transactions to the acquirer with low interchange fee, with one customer witnessing a €1.63M boost in revenue.
By boosting authorisation rates and reducing cost, Worldline helps customers to maximise profit margins with no extra effort. The solution offers a unique dual-layered routing strategy, combining the reliability of predefined rules with the adaptability of machine learning. This allows businesses to adjust their payment processes to fit specific operational needs.

France names space rocket Orbital BAGUETTE One (and can you spot the clever nod to Star Wars?)
France has officially entered the space race with a rocket named Orbital Baguette One. The country known for wine, cheese and existential cinema is now hoping to take over the cosmos with a crusty carb-themed spacecraft. The name is not just a nod to one of France's most iconic exports, but also a wink to Star Wars, with the OB-1 abbreviation paying a playful tribute to Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. A test flight is scheduled from a French military base, with a bigger version, Orbital Baguette One, to follow. The rocket uses what HyPrSpace calls 'revolutionary hybrid propulsion,' powered by a mix of liquid and solid propellants, some made from recycled plastic. There are no turbo-pumps, and the chamber is pressurised with helium, which the company says helps keep costs low. Despite the playful branding, the project has serious backing. France's government has already handed over €35 million, with another €400 million up for grabs if initial launches succeed. The defence ministry is giving up military bases in southwest France and Provence for testing, making this the first rocket launch from mainland France. According to The Times, TV presenters on TF1 had a hard time trying to keep a straight face when reporting on the project this week, especially after showing an AI image of a baguette on a launchpad. But with global demand for satellite launches booming, no one is laughing at the potential. The Novaspace consultancy predicts more than 26,000 satellites will be launched by 2032. HyPrSpace wants to corner a slice of that market with its microlauncher, which it describes as a satellite 'taxi' offering flexible lift-off dates at half the usual cost. Most small rockets charge €40,000 per kilogram. Baguette One aims to do it for around €20,000. While SpaceX continues to dominate and Europe lags behind, France is hoping its crusty challenger will rise to the occasion. OB-1 may sound like a bakery joke, but Macron's government is betting it could be the future of French space travel.

Brett agrees and says: 'I think we get too caught up in the idea that dates need to be a big show of extravagance to show what you can offer, but actually the purpose of a date is to get to know someone and see whether or not you have a good vibe between you.' 4. Put aside money in an emergency fund 'When you are single, there's no second income to pick up the slack if you lose your job or if the boiler breaks,' recognises Brett. 'It's all on your shoulders, so it's important to have a back-up plan like an emergency fund. 'Putting aside money every month into an emergency fund gives you some financial security and I just treat my emergency fund payments like any other bill. Just start small and soon it will add up to something more substantial.' 5. Prioritise getting rid of debt 'A lot of people get into debt when they don't manage the fact that living a single life is far more expensive than life as a couple,' highlights Brett. 'They often try to 'keep up with the Joneses' and end up getting into debt, and that's a surefire way to make yourself absolutely miserable.'If you have got any debt, then prioritise getting rid of that first because debt can cripple someone's financial position. You shouldn't really be saving anything beyond an emergency fund if you've still got debt to pay.' 6. Seek out free or low-cost activities and events in your local area 'Staying connected with your friends is massively important when you're single and doesn't have to cost you the earth,' says Mason. 'If you're into fitness, you could join a local walking or yoga group.'Brett agrees and adds: 'Even just going around to your mate's house with a bottle of wine is great fun. Fun doesn't have to be expensive.' 7. Batch cook meals instead of relying on takeaways 'It's too easy to rely on takeaways when you're cooking for one person, because cooking can seem like a lot of effort for one person. But that's a really slippery slope, so try to avoid falling into that trap,' advises Brett. 'It's good to cook your own meals from scratch and it doesn't have to be anything extravagant. I'm a big fan of batch cooking and freezing meals.' 8. Offer to drive 'If I've not got a huge amount in my bank account, I'll always opt for driving,' says Mason. 'Driving means I can still go out and see my friends and have a really good time, but I don't need to pay for expensive drinks at the bar. Instead, I will opt for soda water and fresh lime and that doesn't cost much – some bars don't even charge you for it.'
