The Producers: What you need to know about the side-splitting musical comedy in the West End and how to find tickets
It's totally outrageous showbiz satire, from the duo's chosen play, Springtime for Hitler: A Gay Romp with Adolf and Eva at Berchtesgaden, created by a deranged ex-Nazi soldier, to the flamboyant director and increasingly madcap rehearsal hijinks. By the time we reach the infamous Springtime for Hitler musical number, audiences are reduced to helpless hysterics.
The Producers won a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards for its original Broadway run in 2001, and was also a massive success in the West End in 2004, starring Nathan Lane and Lee Evans. It has since been staged frequently, but this is the first time we've seen it in London since that initial run.
Patrick Marber's smash-hit revival at the Menier Chocolate Factory is now transferring to the Garrick Theatre in the West End for a much-anticipated encore, starring Andy Nyman and Marc Antolin.

The cast
The fabulously outlandish roles in The Producers are a treat for actors. The original 1967 movie version starred Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder, succeeded by Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick for the stage musical version. Subsequent casts have included Roger Bart, Cory English, Reece Shearsmith and Jason Manford.
Now Andy Nyman has his turn as the colourful Max Bialystock. Nyman was nominated for an Olivier Award for Fiddler on the Roof, appeared in the Wicked movie, and co-created the play Ghost Stories. The cast also features Marc Antolin (Olivier nominated for Little Shop of Horrors) as Leo, plus Trevor Ashley (Hairspray) and Joanna Woodward (The Time Traveller's Wife).
The Producers is directed by Patrick Marber. His writing ranges from TV comedy The Day Today to plays such as Dealer's Choice and Closer. He was Olivier nominated for directing Tom Stoppard's Travesties and won a Tony for directing Stoppard's Leopoldstadt.

Beetlejuice 3 director wonders if he's been ‘replaced' after development update
Legendary Hollywood director Tim Burton is questioning if he's been replaced after 'nobody told him' about plans for Beetlejuice 3. The 66-year-old filmmaker, who directed the original 1988 comedy horror classic and its 2024 sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, has played down speculation that a third movie is definitely on the cards. Nostalgia for the original combined with the return of Michael Keaton as the titular self-proclaimed 'Ghost with the Most' and a starry supporting cast helped propel the sequel to $451,100,000 at the box office. Earlier this year, Warner Bros Pictures co-chairman/CEO Mike De Luca had insisted development on Beetlejuice 3 was 'imminent'. Upon hearing this, Burton told The Hollywood Reporter: 'Really? Nobody told me. Maybe I've been replaced.' Jenna Ortega, who appeared in the second film last year, quipped: 'Maybe I've been, too. Maybe [her character] Astrid dies and goes to heaven instead [of the films' Netherworld]. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'They should just take Baby Beetlejuice on tour and send him to Hawaii.' Burton pointed out that more than three decades passed between the first two films in the franchise, joking that 'the odds are not good' for a follow-up any time soon because he'd be 105 by then. The filmmaker added: 'I really, really enjoyed making this one, and [Warner Bros] didn't even really want to do it. 'We did it the same way I did the first one, with the actors doing improv. It was beautiful to see some of the old cast and have Jenna. But it's like trying to re-create the Wednesday dance scene. I love the characters, but I don't necessarily see it.' Burton also seemed to suggest he'd be unwilling to allow another director to step in and do it instead, as he feels 'very proprietary about everything I do, even if I don't own the characters'. He admitted too that 'when they did the [Beetlejuice Broadway musical], I got p****d'. Meanwhile, Ortega noted she would 'never' want to return to the Beetlejuice world without Burton steering the ship as it would be 'really wrong to get behind that project'. 'Without him involved, what is it? It is what it is because of Tim. There's no other film you can compare Beetlejuice to. So why would you do that? That would be a tad disrespectful.' The 22-year-old played the daughter of Winona Ryder's Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, who is initially unwilling to entertain her mother's psychic abilities as someone still haunted by Beetlejuice. After a family tragedy, three generations of the family return home to Winter River. But Astrid turns their lives upside down when she accidentally opens the portal to the Afterlife. She has also collaborated with Burton on Netflix series Wednesday, where she plays the lead role, and which returns for season two next month. It's a project Burton previously revealed 're-energised' him after he became disillusioned with the movie industry. Back in April, Warner Bros executive De Luca had claimed plans were moving along for sequels for both Minecraft and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. He told Deadline: 'Imminently. The ink might not be dry on the deals yet, but imminently.' De Luca insisted the studio was looking to capitalise on both film's success. More Trending He explained: 'To have two franchises emerge from our leadership team with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Minecraft, I feel like we're ahead of schedule. 'Now we're trying to step on the gas, to double, to quadruple that kind of success.' Metro contacted has Warner Bros for comment. Got a story? While he stayed behind at first, Harrison made a dramatic exit the very next day in a shock twist that left viewers stunned. Now the lovebirds are inseparable, flaunting their romance all over social media with loved-up snaps, cosy date nights and shopping for decor for their new house. Lauren gave fans a glimpse into their loved-up life with a TikTok of her day with Harrison - complete with his cheeky voiceover running through it. From having lunch at Harrods to double dates with former islanders, Harrison's commentary had fans howling. Harrison shocked fans when he said: 'This is us in Harrods, I was buying a Fenty table for our first house together. 'Yeah, crazy. We move in next week.' Viewers flooded the comments in disbelief, with one writing: "Are you actually moving in together or was he joking?" Another penned: "Moving in next week? Wow congrats!" A third exclaimed: "MOVE WHERE NEXT WEEK??" Love Island's controversial star Harrison sparks fix row as he shares big villa secret They were then joined by axed Islanders Tommy and Casa Amor girl Lucy. The ex-Islanders headed to celebrity hangout Sheesh for a boozy night out. Tommy had his eyes on the food while Lucy posed for the camera. This comes after the controversial star sparked fix claims after he shared a big villa secret. Love Island 2025 - Casa Amor girls WHO are the latest bombshells heading into the spin-off villa? The Sun exclusively reported the identities of the six beauties heading into the ITV2 spin-off villa, after it was teased during last week's episode. The Love Island newbies were seen strolling into the compound clad in swimwear - with one already having a connection to Harry. On the show's official Instagram page it teased: "Amor the merrier… who's ready for Casa Amor?" and now we can report the full line-up. Lauren Wood, 26, Emma Munro, 30 Lucy Quinn, 21 Yasmin Broom, 26 Andrada Pop, 27 Rheo Parnell, 26 In the viral video, Harrison was approached inside a London Boots branch by a fan who recognised him and immediately grilled him about the show. The fan told him: 'Mad guy innit? Bouncing between two gyal and them things there. But you know what? I rate it though.' Harrison replied: 'Appreciate that man… Lauren was one of the girls in the triangle, man. And I chose Lauren. Now I'm back home.' The fan pressed on, asking whether the drama is genuine or played up for the cameras. Harrison insisted: 'Yeah, it's real. It's real. Mad.' But it's his next comment that's raised eyebrows among viewers. Harrison admitted: 'They'll like put people together and stuff like that to have conversations and stuff like that.' The fan then chimed in with: 'I know one of the Love Islanders, they told me like, yo they'll tell you like, cool, just bless you with that person.' Harrison replied: 'Yeah, yeah, yeah. They'll say that shit. Fair enough.' The clip sparked speculation that producers may be manipulating scenes for entertainment. In response, a Love Island spokesperson told The Sun: 'I think it's worth pointing out that he says twice in that clip that the drama is real himself. "For guidance, the opinions the Islanders have, decisions they make and the relationships formed are completely within the control of the Islanders themselves. "What is shown is an accurate representation of villa life.' 5 The pair shopped for new furniture for their house in Harrods Credit: tiktok/@_laurenkwood 5 They also went on a double date with ex-islanders Tommy and Lucy Credit: tiktok/@_laurenkwood

'I don't want anything now. Like, I don't want anything serious for years, because I don't want anything to interfere with my son and I. 'And I don't want my son to meet anyone. I just want him to have his mom and his dad, and that's it. I think that's healthy for him right now. 'So I don't want anything like that to happen for like, years, and I don't even want to give my energy to someone. "Like, I'm raising him, and that's all I want to give my energy and time to.
