Rangers boss Russell Martin's eye-catching girlfriend is page 3 icon Lucy Pinder

Daily Mirror05-06-2025

Russell Martin has been named as Rangers' new head coach and the former Southampton boss could be bringing his girlfriend, former glamour model Lucy Pinder, to Glasgow
Rangers have finally ended their long search for a manager by announcing the appointment of Russell Martin. The Scottish giants sacked Philippe Clement in February, with Martin now stepping in as head coach in the hope of restoring the club to glory.
Martin, who had a short loan spell at Rangers as a player, signed a three-year contract on Thursday to kick off a fresh era at Ibrox. It comes just after a US-based consortium, led by Andrew Cavenagh and the investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers, completed a takeover of the club last week.

The former Scotland defender, 39, last managed Southampton, who he guided to Premier League promotion before being sacked last December. And as he looks towards what he'll hope will be a more successful spell, he could be joined in Glasgow by his glamorous partner - former lads' mag favourite Lucy Pinder.

He was previously married to bodybuilder Jasmine Martin, with whom he has three children, but they parted ways in 2023. Russell and Lucy went public with their relationship last August as she shared a sweet snap of them in Brighton, where Martin was receiving an honorary degree in his hometown.
And via the Record, here's everything we know about the latest Rangers WAG...
Glamour model
Pinder was a regular in magazines such as FHM, Nuts and Loaded in the early 2000s. She appeared topless in Nuts Magazine and was listed on FHM's "100 Sexiest Women in the World" on several occasions.
In 2007 she placed 92nd, in 2006 she was 35th and in 2005, she made the top 20, placing 16th. Also in 2007, Ralph Magazine honoured her with the title of "the best boobs in the world".

Pinder appeared as a contestant on a 'WAGS and Glamour Girls" edition of The Weakest Link in September 2007.
TV and film
She entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2009 along with stars such as Ulrika Johnson, La Toya Jackson, Tina Malone, Tommy Sheridan and Coolio. But she was the first to be evicted on day eight.

Pinder became well known among football fans too, regularly joining the crew on Soccer AM while wearing her Southampton top.
In 2012, she traded reality TV for movies and tried her hand at acting, playing her first supporting role in the comedy horror Strippers vs Werewolves. She starred in Age of Kill alongside Martin Kemp in 2015, as well as supernatural thrillers Suburban Fairytale and Fanged Up.

Pinder even ventured into Bollywood films with an appearance in the action drama film Waarrior Savitri in 2016. The glamour model then secured a part in American film Sharknado 5: Global Swarming in 2017. Her most recent gig came in 2023, where she played Louise in Nightmare on 34th Street.
Relationship history
Back in 2016, reports claimed she was seeing Captain America actor Chris Evans, with rumours swirling that she was totally "smitten" with the Marvel star. Though their relationship was never officially confirmed, Pinder and Evans were spotted enjoying a Disneyland day out in January 2015.
She was also romantically linked to 'Vikings' star Elijah Rowen in 2019 after being spotted looking cosy together at the British Photography Awards.

In August this year, Pinder shared snaps of her and current boyfriend Martin in Brighton together on her Instagram story, confirming their relationship. She's a diehard Southampton fan and the pair are said to be a match made in heaven.

The Sun reported a source to have said at the time: "She is a regular face at Southampton functions and is always around the club as a diehard fan. Over the weeks and months their friendship grew into something more. They're a match made in heaven — or at least in Southampton. They're mad for each other.'
Podcast
In 2019, Pinder launched 'Smashing Sundays', a podcast she co-hosts with her flatmate Beth Granville. The podcast is described as: "Lucy Pinder (model and actress) and Beth Granville (comedy writer and actress), talk about the quintessential British Sunday.
"Finding themselves single in their mid 30s after decade long relationships meant the end of the weekend had the potential to be rather a lonely affair; until they made the decision to move in together and make their Sunday's smashing.

"With a different guest comedian, actor or musician each week, they discuss their most awful and most smashing Sunday's to date: they range from staying in bed all day eating toast wondering what on earth to do with the rest of their lives to dating disasters to going to a sleepover at Hampton Court getting merry on mead."
However, while the podcast is still listed in Pinder's Instagram bio, there haven't been any new episodes released since 2022.

However, after months of talks it fell short of what Shankland wanted and according to the Daily Mail, there was only a minimal difference between the Edinburgh club's final offer and the previous deal that he'd already rejected. The Mail's report claims that Shankland was open to staying at Hearts but only for the right price, and ultimately concluded that chief executive Andrew McKinlay didn't share his ambitions. McInnes has already added striker Claudio Braga this summer, and Elton Kabangu's loan from Union Saint Gilloise was made permanent. But the former Kilmarnock manager will demand the search for another number nine is ramped up now that it looks like Shankland is quitting the capital after three years. The 29-year-old hit 67 goals during his time in Maroon, playing in 136 games across all competitions. He has been linked with a move to West Brom and mentions of Rangers have never gone away, both of whom would benefit from being able to snap him up as a free agent. We told you earlier this month that Hearts had made an offer for 19-year-old Nigerian striker Uchenna Ogundu, with a view to him helping to void the void left by Shankland departing. But reports suggest he is wanted by a number of clubs across Europe, both on the continent and in the UK. McInnes had previously said on Shankland: "I really feel Lawrence as part of a strong Hearts team can elevate himself. Rangers transfer special including Coady latest, why Turgeman move could be off & why Shankland's a no-brainer "I think he's capable of scoring 25-30 goals a season in the right team and used in the right way. "We can offer security. We can offer building a team and being part of a team that's trying to be successful." The Scottish singer stunned the Worthy Farm crowd with a surprise set at this year's festival. But it wasn't just the British fans he wanted to make it up to. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, the Someone You Loved singer, 28, wrote: "Had to come back and make it up to you all x" ‌ And in similar fashion to his gig a day earlier, Lewis surprised fans in Switzerland after previously having to pull out of a show in 2023. The clip shared by Lewis showed the crowd being told in Switzerland in 2023: "Lewis Capaldi can't sing for us right now. ‌ "So we're going to sing for Lewis Capaldi." The scenes showed how the crowd at the time at OpenAir St Gallen coming together to show support for the star by singing his hit tune. Lewis then told his followers: "You filled in for me when I couldn't be there." And a video then showed him walking back on stage to huge applause as he said: "Switzerland 2025 I wanted to make it up to you." After waving at his adoring crowd, he then said: "My name's Lewis Capaldi and I'm f***ing back baby. Here we go." One user gushes: "The LEGEND IS BACK," while another praised: "What a comeback," with a love heart emoji. A third told him: "You are so incredibly loved. It was great to see you on that stage," an another added: "This is why we need to support each other with understanding, support and grace. I LOVE this. And it's very, very helpful and inspiring. He had sent shockwaves on social media when he dropped a teaser for his brand new song in a poignant Instagram video just hours before his Glastonbury appearance. Alongside the video, Lewis wrote: "It's been a while." And in classic Lewis style, the artist's new song is full of emotion. The Max Aarons baptism of fire Rangers star survived as Norwich ally reveals new man can handle the heat

Rangers' latest signing survived being thrown into Norwich's fiercest fixture as a rookie 18-year-old for his league debut Max Aarons was handed a Norwich baptism of fire in the derby jokingly dubbed the Old Farm. The then 18-year-old refused to be cowed by Ipswich fans in that league debut at Portman Road seven years ago. ‌ But the Rangers new boy will soon discover handling the beast that is the Old Firm is a country mile from that first taste of footballing rivalry. ‌ Few would argue the intensity of the East Anglia derby falls short of the fiery furnace of Glasgow's bitter contest. But still, for a young Canary hoping to take flight there was hardly a bigger or more intimidating fixture to start out than that 1-1 draw in enemy territory. Rather than have his wings clipped, the full-back rose to the challenge. So much so that Daniel Farke simply couldn't take him back out the team. Aarons went on to make 41 league appearances that season as Norwich stormed to the Championship title. And for ex-Carrow Road team mate Michael McGovern that day in Ipswich was all the proof he needed that Aarons was the real deal. The former Celtic goalkeeper knows few footballing rivalries compare to what lies in store for Russell Martin's first signing. But he has no doubt Aarons is built for the challenge. ‌ McGovern, who spent seven years at Norwich, said: 'I know Max really well, we used to sit beside each other in the changing room. 'I played in his debut in a cup game against Stevenage and then a few weeks later he made his league debut away to Ipswich Town which is obviously a huge rivalry, the biggest game for Norwich fans. 'He was put straight in from the start, he was only 18, but he came in for that East Anglian derby and was excellent. ‌ 'He handled the occasion superbly well. It's not quite on the Old Firm level but for an 18-year-old lad to make their debut in that environment it was a huge test. 'Daniel Farke clearly trusted him and the thing about Max is he has a really good temperament. Even back then. ‌ 'So as much as it is difficult to play for a club like Rangers and be in the Glasgow goldfish bowl, Max will be fine because he has a really good head on his shoulders. 'He isn't fazed by anything really. Remember he has now played in big games in the Premier League. He's played away at Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs many times. He was young and that would have been a real learning curve. 'Not just that but he handled the pressure of two separate title wins in the Championship which is a really competitive league. ‌ 'So I'm sure he will handle Rangers and Scottish football. He will relish the challenge. 'Max is a top player with so much potential till to do well at Ibrox. He has played a lot of games at a young age. He's also had a taste of playing in Spain so I think Rangers are getting a really good player.' Aarons arrived on a season-long loan deal from Bournemouth on Wednesday - and immediately set his sights on kick starting his career that stalled last season with just two starts for the Cherries and five appearances for Valencia in a La Liga loan stint. ‌ The 25-year-old will go head-to-head with skipper James Tavernier for the right back spot at Ibrox. And McGovern reckons there's no way Aarons is moving north to play second fiddle. He said: 'That's up to Russell Martin who starts in each position! ‌ 'I don't know where Max will fit in. Naturally he is a right back but he can also play on the left. 'But I imagine he will be going in there to play. 'He's not going to want to go somewhere and not play because he didn't play too much at Bournemouth last season or on loan at Valencia. ‌ 'He just needs regular games. I'm pretty sure if he gets that you will see a player who was quoted as a £20m player not so long ago. 'Max is really comfortable on the ball. He's a good one v one defender and really good going forward. He's intelligent and knows the game. 'He just needs regular football. He has a good chance of getting that at Rangers. I think he will be an asset for them this season.' ‌ That £20m valuation comes from reported Manchester United interest in Aarons three years ago while the player was at his peak with Norwich. The Canaries refused to cash in and by the time he moved on in 2023 - with just a year left on his contract - they had to settle for a £7m from Bournemouth. Now he's preparing for a crack at Scottish football after becoming the first signing of the Martin era. And his first competitive action could come in the form of a European debut in the Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos next month. McGovern said: 'Max is a Premier League quality player. It's a shame there's no option to buy for Rangers. Bournemouth are probably looking at Max as an asset who can make them a good few quid in the future. 'He just needs games and a bit of love. He's not had too many games the last year or so. But he will hopefully get that platform with Rangers.'
