Man remanded over murder of six-year-old son found buried in Jempol
According to Kosmo!, Jempol district police chief Superintendent Norhisham Mustapar said the remand order for the 36-year-old suspect was issued by Magistrate Norshazwani Ishak at the Bahau Magistrate's Court.
The remand, which runs until August 7, is to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, he added.
'This will allow investigators to look into the motive behind the killing,' he said when contacted by Kosmo!
According to the report, the suspect, dressed in an orange lock-up uniform, was brought to court at about 8.52am and taken away in a white police van roughly an hour later.
He was escorted under tight security by police personnel, while media representatives gathered at the court complex from as early as 8.30am.
On Monday, the boy, who was earlier reported missing in Taman Bukit Indah, Johor Bahru, was found dead in Jempol.

According to Hakemal, a total of 288 raids were conducted during the same period across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor. This resulted in the arrest of 1,005 individuals and seizures worth RM1.1 billion, he said, adding that the success proved the GOF's commitment to combating crimes that threaten the country's security and well-being. SHAH ALAM, Aug 5 — A man's attempt to snatch a necklace from a local in Setia Alam was thwarted when bystanders caught him yesterday evening. Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident occurred at 7.07pm when the 37-year-old victim was heading to his car. The suspect, riding a motorcycle, tried to pull off the victim's necklace, but the victim fought back quickly. 'The suspect lost control and fell from his motorcycle. Two-year-old boy found dead in sewer after falling through manhole in Sibu
SIBU, Aug 5 — A two-year-old boy was found dead in a sewer after he is believed to have fallen through a manhole at Jalan Pedada here yesterday. A Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre spokesperson said the victim, identified as Ehthin Ling, was confirmed dead at the scene by the Ministry of Health's personnel. The JBPM received a distress call at 6.29pm and dispatched a team of 10 firefighters from the Sibu Central Fire and Rescue Station, arriving at the scene four minutes later. 'Upon arrival, the boy's father informed the rescue team that his son had gone missing and was believed to have fallen into the sewer system. A search and rescue operation was immediately launched. 'At 6.55pm, the victim's body was found floating inside the sewer and was retrieved. The body was handed over to the police,' the spokesperson said. — Bernama
