McDonald's is sneaking two new items on the menu — and fans of the classic favorites should be thrilled
When you visit your local McDonald's, you might notice a new addition to the menu — or if you live in Chicago, two new additions. The fast food chain has added the Daily Double to its national menu, expanding its value meal offerings. This new burger is made with two beef patties, American cheese, shredded lettuce, slivered onions, mayo and two slices of tomato. The Daily Double has been a hit in certain local markets such as Miami, Chicago and Seattle — and now fans can get it all over the country. According to the Golden Arches, this hearty burger has a whopping 490 calories, 31 grams of total fat, 30 grams of carbs and 22 grams of protein. This new burger might sound similar to classics like the McDouble or Double Cheeseburger, because they are, but these two OG sandwiches instead have cheese, pickles, diced onions, ketchup and mustard. Customers also have the option to add bacon to the McDouble. A small but mighty difference. The Daily Double will be available at participating McDonald's restaurants across the U.S. starting July 22 through the end of 2025. Later this month, the Daily Double will be included as an option in the McValue Meal Deal bundle — which includes a choice of select entrees plus four-piece Chicken McNuggets, small fries and a small soft drink. This yummy deal is priced at $6 or $7, depending on location. Customers who frequent the Chicago International McDonald's restaurant will also be able to order curly fries — a rare menu item only rarely seen in the U.S. Since 2018, this Midwest location has been known for featuring different menu items offered at McD's locations around the world. The Daily Double is made with two beef patties, American cheese, shredded lettuce, slivered onions, mayo and two slices of tomato. McDonalds On June 27, food Instagram account @snackolator reported the arrival of 'Twister Fries at the Chicago location — but likely only for a few weeks. 'You can now get Twister Fries currently sold in other countries at McDonald's international restaurant in Chicago (1035 W. Randolph),' the post read. 'At this location they rotate a menu every 6 weeks or so and feature items that they're currently selling outside of the USA.' People across Europe and Asia have been lovin' these curly fries for years, and patrons weren't shy about bragging in the comments. 'I had them in Ireland a few years ago, along with cheese curds!' someone shared. Recently, fans were flocking to the Midwest McDonald's for the McAloo Tikki burger — a crispy, spicy potato-and-pea patty topped with tomato and a sweet-tangy tomato mayo. The Daily Double will be available at participating McDonald's restaurants across the U.S. through the end of 2025. Christopher Sadowski Meanwhile, McDonald's is spicing things up this summer with the introduction of new spicy menu items. Starting July 8, a new spicy variation of the Egg McMuffin will be available at participating restaurants for a limited time. The Spicy McMuffin includes everything fans love about the Egg McMuffin with a shot of McDonald's signature Spicy Pepper Sauce. Fans can also get the Spicy Sausage McMuffin and the Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg. They also quietly added the Blueberry & Crème Pie nationwide, a twist on the classic McDonald's sleeved pie, featuring blueberries and vanilla crème.

Gen Z Is Leading America's Boycott Charge
Produced [by our journalists] with financial support from an organization or individual that did not approve or review the work. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A significant number of Americans support consumer boycotts targeting corporations in response to certain actions, according to a new study. According to a recent survey by research firm and lending marketplace LendingTree, 31 percent of U.S. consumers say they have boycotted a business in the past. By generation, Gen Zers aged 18 to 28 were found to be the most likely to participate in a boycott at 37 percent, while 59 percent of this group also said they have researched a businesses values and stances before shopping there. Why It Matters A number of America's largest corporations have faced boycotts in recent months, with Starbucks, Amazon and Home Depot currently seeing calls for shoppers to refrain from their stores and online services. Many of these boycotts have been driven by progressive groups who have expressed concerns over workers' rights and company tax avoidance, as well as backlash to companies scaling back diversity hiring commitments. LendingTree's survey revealed that those who are in favor of this form of targeted action span age groups and the political spectrum. Sprecher/Getty Images / AP Photo What To Know LendingTree conducted its survey of 2,050 American consumers aged 18 to 79 from May 14 to May 16. Of those who said they had boycotted a business, 43 percent cited perceived discrimination by the company as the reason, 44 percent mentioned their objection to a political donation or affiliation, and 29 percent to religious messaging or practices. Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) proved to be an issue that split respondents along party lines. Forty-five percent of consumers said they were more likely to support a business that promotes DEI policies, though 21 percent said this would make them less likely to do so. Of the latter group, 29 percent of Republicans and 16 percent of Democrats said they were less likely to support a pro-DEI business. The handling of DEI policies has been central in the recent boycotts of McDonald's, Target and Walmart, who scaled back certain diversity-focused initiatives at the beginning of this year. Whether they have participated or not, the survey revealed that 45 percent of consumers look into a company's values and stances before shopping there. LendingTree also found that anti-boycott sentiment to be a significant force, with 23 percent of respondents saying they had supported a business specifically because it was the target of a boycott. Republicans (31 percent) were more like to participating in these "reverse boycotts" than Democrats (20 percent). What People Are Saying LendingTree chief consumer finance analyst Matt Schulz said: "There's no doubt that lots of Americans are aware of the political leanings of many of the businesses they frequent, but the fact that 45 percent of consumers look into a company's politics before buying from them is pretty shocking." "Any company that attempts to downplay the importance of politics in their customers' shopping choices does so at its own peril," he added. "Your potential customers are listening closely to what your business says, whether you like it or not." What Happens Next? Boycotts led by the grassroots group The People's Union USA are currently targeting Amazon, Home Depot and Starbucks. John Schwarz, the group's founder, has also called for a Fourth of July boycott. In a video posted to Instagram, Schwarz encouraged consumers to avoid celebrations, fireworks and "big store spending" in a protest against the presidency of Donald Trump.

Here is What to Know Beyond Why McDonald's Corporation (MCD) is a Trending Stock
McDonald's (MCD) has been one of the most searched-for stocks on lately. So, you might want to look at some of the facts that could shape the stock's performance in the near term. Over the past month, shares of this world's biggest hamburger chain have returned -5.4%, compared to the Zacks S&P 500 composite's +5% change. During this period, the Zacks Retail - Restaurants industry, which McDonald's falls in, has gained 1.7%. The key question now is: What could be the stock's future direction? Although media reports or rumors about a significant change in a company's business prospects usually cause its stock to trend and lead to an immediate price change, there are always certain fundamental factors that ultimately drive the buy-and-hold decision. Here at Zacks, we prioritize appraising the change in the projection of a company's future earnings over anything else. That's because we believe the present value of its future stream of earnings is what determines the fair value for its stock. Our analysis is essentially based on how sell-side analysts covering the stock are revising their earnings estimates to take the latest business trends into account. When earnings estimates for a company go up, the fair value for its stock goes up as well. And when a stock's fair value is higher than its current market price, investors tend to buy the stock, resulting in its price moving upward. Because of this, empirical studies indicate a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and short-term stock price movements. For the current quarter, McDonald's is expected to post earnings of $3.14 per share, indicating a change of +5.7% from the year-ago quarter. The Zacks Consensus Estimate has changed -0.1% over the last 30 days. For the current fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $12.25 points to a change of +4.5% from the prior year. Over the last 30 days, this estimate has changed +0.1%. For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $13.19 indicates a change of +7.8% from what McDonald's is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has remained unchanged. With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool -- the Zacks Rank -- is a more conclusive indicator of a stock's near-term price performance, as it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. The size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, has resulted in a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) for McDonald's. The chart below shows the evolution of the company's forward 12-month consensus EPS estimate: While earnings growth is arguably the most superior indicator of a company's financial health, nothing happens as such if a business isn't able to grow its revenues. After all, it's nearly impossible for a company to increase its earnings for an extended period without increasing its revenues. So, it's important to know a company's potential revenue growth. For McDonald's, the consensus sales estimate for the current quarter of $6.7 billion indicates a year-over-year change of +3.2%. For the current and next fiscal years, $26.35 billion and $27.84 billion estimates indicate +1.6% and +5.7% changes, respectively. McDonald's reported revenues of $5.96 billion in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of -3.5%. EPS of $2.67 for the same period compares with $2.7 a year ago. Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $6.08 billion, the reported revenues represent a surprise of -2.12%. The EPS surprise was +1.14%. Over the last four quarters, McDonald's surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times. The company topped consensus revenue estimates just once over this period. Without considering a stock's valuation, no investment decision can be efficient. In predicting a stock's future price performance, it's crucial to determine whether its current price correctly reflects the intrinsic value of the underlying business and the company's growth prospects. Comparing the current value of a company's valuation multiples, such as its price-to-earnings (P/E), price-to-sales (P/S), and price-to-cash flow (P/CF), to its own historical values helps ascertain whether its stock is fairly valued, overvalued, or undervalued, whereas comparing the company relative to its peers on these parameters gives a good sense of how reasonable its stock price is. As part of the Zacks Style Scores system, the Zacks Value Style Score (which evaluates both traditional and unconventional valuation metrics) organizes stocks into five groups ranging from A to F (A is better than B; B is better than C; and so on), making it helpful in identifying whether a stock is overvalued, rightly valued, or temporarily undervalued. McDonald's is graded D on this front, indicating that it is trading at a premium to its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade. The facts discussed here and much other information on might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about McDonald's. However, its Zacks Rank #3 does suggest that it may perform in line with the broader market in the near term. Want the latest recommendations from Zacks Investment Research?
