'Rich Dad Poor Dad' author warns Bitcoin buyers as price tops $120K originally appeared on TheStreet.
Rich Dad Poor Dad author Robert Kiyosaki issued a cautious but hopeful statement on social media as Bitcoin's price (BTC) broke through the barrier and moved above $121,000 to a new all-time high.
As the largest cryptocurrency reached a milestone on July 14, Kiyosaki positioned the rally as a time to reflect, specifically for those who have yet to enter the crypto market.
"Great news for those who already have some Bitcoin. Bad news for who… for whatever reason… never 'pulled the trigger'. They own nothing. As warned in previous X…Pigs get fat…. Hogs get slaughtered," Kiyosaki wrote.
While he's buying one more Bitcoin, Kiyosaki said he won't buy again until the economy's direction is clearer. But he admitted that he'd be tempted if he could take the $200K bet to $1 million.
He wrote, "As tempting as Bitcoin going to $200k to $1 Million is….I do want to be a HOG and get slaughtered….If you have not begun acquiring BITCOIN….I suggest starting very small… starting with a Satoshi."
Kiyosaki also mentioned Warren Buffett's $350 billion cash, conjecturing that he has been waiting for a crash to pick up some quality assets.
As always, he finished with a blunt warning saying, "Millions are about to become poorer." But he also offered hope, saying those who are smart, patient, and alert could emerge much richer.
Previously, Kiyosaki warned that if Bitcoin ultimately rises to $1 million per coin, many people will lament never having bought at today's price. If all they could have purchased was a single satoshi (which is the smallest unit of Bitcoin), Kiyosaki contended the feeling would be the same: "You will be saying, 'I wish I had bought more.'"

Amazon's quiet pricing twist on tariffs stuns shoppers

We've all had that moment when you're scrolling through an Amazon (AMZN) Prime Day deal, scoop something cheap, and feel like you're winning. Well, hold that thought. Though Amazon may still be handing out headline discounts, something a little less obvious is unfolding behind the scenes. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter It turns out that arguably the biggest name in retail just made a subtle move. Though shoppers might not have noticed that right away, the reasons behind it have everything to do with politics, and a promise that suddenly feels a little slippery. Image source: Bloomberg/Getty Images Tariffs may sound like a win for American industry. In reality, though, they often end up costing regular people the most. When policymakers slap duties on imports, they say they're looking to protect domestic producers. However, history has shown that those taxes almost always impact consumer prices. In 1930, the Smoot–Hawley Tariff Act raised U.S. import taxes by over 50%. The result was that prices on clothing and home goods spiked, global trade tanked, and the Great Depression worsened. Fast forward to 2002. President George W. Bush imposed steel tariffs as high as 30%. That helped steelmakers but weighed down automakers, appliance brands, and construction companies. Related: Top economist drops 6-word verdict on Trump tariffs, inflation On top of that, we saw a marked increase in unemployment, prices climbed, and economic growth took a hit. Even "niche" tariffs ripple far. In 2018, washing machine duties led to a 12% jump in prices for washers and dryers (those weren't taxed). The University of Chicago estimated that it cost U.S. consumers a whopping $1.5 billion per year. That's because businesses can only respond to tariffs in three ways: stomach the cost, move production, or pass it down the line. Most opt for the third, which leaves shoppers holding the bag, especially when smaller businesses aren't able to negotiate better deals or spread out the pain. The goal is to boost domestic output significantly, but it's likely to end up shrinking choice while hiking costs for shoppers. And when other countries hit back with their own tariffs, American exporters also feel the heat. Though Amazon insists it's committed to keeping costs low, a recent report suggests otherwise. According to the Wall Street Journal, the e-commerce giant has been quietly raising prices on hundreds of essential items since President Trump's tariffs were announced in April. From deodorants to pet food, shoppers are feeling the squeeze, even if they haven't noticed yet. Amazon tariff prices on low-cost goods increased by an average of 5% from April to July, the report said. That may sound relatively low, but individual items paint a different picture. Related: Major analyst revamps Nvidia stock price target after China surprise For instance, a single can of Campbell's clam chowder jumped nearly 30%. That's far from being a rounding error. It stings a lot more because Amazon CEO Andy Jassy had pledged to shield consumers from the fallout of Trump administration tariffs. They even doubled down during Amazon Prime Day deals, underscoring the importance of savings and affordability. However, in reality, it seems Amazon is absorbing costs on higher-ticket items while quietly letting prices climb on everyday goods. What's surprising is that Amazon sellers say they haven't upped their wholesale prices, suggesting the retail giant is looking to make a call on its end. Still, Amazon's rivals aren't following suit. Walmart recently lowered prices on comparable products, while Target is finding other ways to cut costs before touching prices. All of these positions put Amazon in a tricky spot. While it's still offering discounts on big-ticket items, its strategy on essentials offers an entirely different take, one shaped more by tariffs than consumer relief. As the Trump administration's trade policies evolve, shoppers may want to look at their carts as closely as their savings. Crypto Funds Record All-Time High Weekly Inflows of $4.39B: CoinShares

Digital asset funds saw inflows of $4.39 billion last week, the highest figure on record, according to data tracked by crypto asset manager CoinShares. The flow surpasses the previous peak of $4.27 billion, set in December 2024 in the aftermath of the U.S. presidential election, CoinShares said in its weekly roundup on Monday. The 14th consecutive week of gains by crypto funds saw a particularly strong performance from ether products, which registered around $2.12 billion, almost gaining parity with their bitcoin counterparts at nearly $2.2 billion. ETH rallied as much as 25% last week, leading a surge in the altcoin market while bitcoin took a bull breather following recent all-time highs. "Ethereum stole the show, attracting $2.12 billion in inflows, nearly double its previous record of $1.2 billion," CoinShares said. "The past 13 weeks of inflows now represent 23% of Ethereum AuM, with 2025 inflows already exceeding the full-year total for 2024 at $6.2 billion."

Why This Analyst Thinks MicroStrategy Stock Can Soar to a New Street-High Target of $680

Digital currency holding company MicroStrategy, now rebranded as Strategy (MSTR), recently received a stock price upgrade from TD Cowen. Analysts at the investment firm raised the price target from $590 to a Street high of $680 because of surrounding optimism regarding the company's Bitcoin (BTCUSD) operations. The company has been acquiring Bitcoin at a steady pace. In fact, Strategy recently purchased 4,225 more BTC for $472.5 million. This announcement also came at a time when Bitcoin reached a new all-time high, climbing above the $123,000 mark. TD Cowen highlighted that the company stands out as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, and while competitors might try to emulate Strategy, the company has a significant cost of capital advantage. About Strategy Stock Incorporated in 1989 and headquartered in Tysons Corner, Virginia, Strategy is an enterprise analytics and business intelligence company. Originally known for its software solutions that enabled organizations to analyze vast datasets, the company has transformed into the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin under the watchful eye of Executive Chairman Michael Saylor. In 2020, the company shifted its focus from analytics to become a significant holder of cryptocurrency, aggressively buying Bitcoin as a treasury reserve asset, thereby positioning itself at the forefront of corporate crypto adoption. Now, the company can almost act as a proxy for holding crypto. The firm currently has a market capitalization of $115 billion. This year, given the conducive environment that has emerged in the cryptocurrency market, Strategy has been increasing its Bitcoin holdings, which has given a boost to its stock. Over the past 52 weeks, MSTR stock has gained a massive 172%. The stock is also up 46% year-to-date (YTD). While MSTR is about 28% lower than its 52-week high of $543, the stock reached a YTD high of $457.22 on July 16. However, Strategy stock is currently trading at an eye-watering valuation. Its price sits at 266 times sales. Needless to say, this valuation is highly stretched compared to the industry average. Bitcoin Acquisition and Financials Strategy is raising capital to acquire more Bitcoin. Prior to the recent buying, the company purchased 4,020 BTC in May. Strategy is actively financing its Bitcoin acquisitions through at-the-market (ATM) offerings. Strategy last declared an ATM program pursuant to which the company may issue and sell shares of its 10.00% Series A Perpetual Stride Preferred Stock. The offering is worth a total of $4.2 billion. For the first quarter of 2025, Strategy's revenues declined 3.6% year-over-year (YOY) to $111.1 million. However, the company's subscription services revenues grew by 61.6% annually to $37.1 million. Strategy reported a 13.7% BTC Yield as of the end of Q1. This is a key performance indicator that indicates the percentage change of the ratio between the company's BTC holdings and its assumed diluted shares outstanding. At the end of Q1, Strategy reported $5.8 billion in "BTC $ Gain.' For the full year of 2025, the company raised its BTC Yield target from 15% to 25% and increased the BTC $ Gain target from $10 billion to $15 billion. For Q2, Wall Street analysts expect Strategy's loss per share to narrow by 84% annually. This year, the company is expected to turn a profit of $7.30 per share, which indicates a 209% YOY increase. What Do Analysts Think About Strategy Stock? Analysts have become exceptionally bullish on Strategy stock amid its massive cryptocurrency bet. In addition to the price upgrade from TD Cowen, the company's stock has received several more upgrades. Barclays analyst Ramsey El-Assal raised the price target on MSTR stock from $421 to $475 while maintaining an "Overweight" rating. This upgrade reflects confidence in the strategic direction that the company has taken and its performance forecasts. Meanwhile, Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brett Knoblauch cut his price target by a small amount from $619 to $614. However, the analyst maintained the overall rating on the stock at 'Overweight.' Knoblauch also believes that Strategy will be able to maintain its premium NAV and continue purchasing BTC in the near future. Finally, analysts at H.C. Wainwright raised their price target from $480 to $521 while keeping a 'Buy' rating. This raise was predicated upon Strategy raising its 2025 guidance and doubling its capital raising plan. H.C. Wainwright also mentioned the upside exposure the company is gaining from its Bitcoin holdings. Strategy has become a popular name on Wall Street, with analysts giving it a consensus 'Strong Buy' rating overall. Of the 13 analysts rating the stock, a majority of 11 analysts rate it a 'Strong Buy,' one analyst suggests a 'Moderate Buy,' and one analyst gives it a 'Strong Sell' rating. The consensus price target of $543.62 represents about 28% upside from current levels, while TD Cowen's Street-high price target of $680 indicates 61% potential upside.
