Panchayat secretaries demand relief from work overload
The secretaries submitted a representation to district Collector TS Chetan, outlining their challenges.
The Panchayat Secretaries' Association highlighted that they are overwhelmed with responsibilities, particularly village secretariat surveys, which fall solely on them. They criticized the IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System) monitoring, noting that only the Panchayat Department faces such scrutiny, increasing stress.
The association pointed out that in some mandals, Booth Level Officer duties are assigned exclusively to Panchayat Secretaries, while Village Revenue Officers and surveyors are exempted. This, combined with multiple surveys, prevents them from fulfilling core Panchayat duties.
The secretaries reported working over 12 hours daily, starting as early as 6 am for sanitation tasks and continuing late into the evening, impacting their health.
They urged the district authorities and government to address their grievances, reduce their workload, and ensure fair task distribution across departments.

Puttaparthi: District Collector TS Chetan has instructed the officials to ensure meticulous arrangements for Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's anticipated visit to Kothacheruvu on July 10. The CM is likely to attend the Mega Parent-Teachers Meeting (PTM) 2.0 at ZP Boys and Girls High Schools and the Government Junior College. District-level officers have been assigned specific responsibilities to ensure flawless execution of the visit. Post-meeting, Collector Chetan, SP Ratna, Joint Collector Kumar, and former Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy inspected the ZP schools and Government Junior College, reviewing classrooms and campus grounds. They issued instructions to relevant departments to complete preparations promptly. Earlier, the team also visited Puttaparthi Airport to assess arrangements. The administration is focused on ensuring all aspects of the Chief Minister's visit, from security to infrastructure, are meticulously planned for a successful event. The inspection and review involved key officials including Special Deputy Collector (KRRC) Surya Narayana Reddy, RDOs Suvarna (Puttaparthi) and Mahesh (Dharmavaram), DRDA PD Narasaiah, CPO Vijay Kumar, DEO Krishtappa, GSWS Sudhakar Reddy, District Civil Supplies Officer Vamsi Krishna Reddy, Civil Supplies Corporation district manager Raju, DPVO Samatha, DTO Srinivas, SSA PPO Devaraj, among others.

Collector calls for 'let's make Sri Sathya Sai a dropout-free dist'
Puttaparthi: Sri Sathya Sai District Collector TS Chetan has called for collective efforts to enroll all school-age children and transform the district into a dropout-free zone. Addressing the media on Saturday at the Mini Conference Hall in the District Collectorate joined by District SP V Ratna, IPS, to outline the district's strategy for the upcoming Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) and related programmes including P4 and Talli Ki Vandanam. He explained that the Mega PTM an initiative of the State Education Department—will be held across Andhra Pradesh on July 10. The event is aimed at strengthening the bond between students, parents, and teachers, and will be conducted in a festive atmosphere, focusing on comprehensive educational development. Mandatory participation of all students with their parents and active involvement of teachers. Detailed progress reports will be shared with parents. Rangoli competitions for mothers, tug-of-war for fathers, and other cultural activities will be organised. The theme this year highlights the central role of mothers in the education system. Alumni and donors who have supported schools will also be invited. Student-led committees such as Invitation, Parking, and Hospitality committees will be set up in each school. Participation of government officials including Tahsildars, MPDOs, and Municipal Commissioners is expected. Public representatives, including MPs and MLAs, will attend the PTM in their respective constituencies. The state-level programme will be held at Kottacheruvu in our district, under the guidance of the Chief Minister. 20,789 students enrolled in Class 1, and 24,000 in Class 6 this year. Students' Aadhaar details and photographs must be linked accurately in UDISE+. Parents, teachers, and society must jointly work to eliminate school dropouts. Citizens can register at and select families to mentor. Each mentor will have a profile on the platform. Alumni and NRIs from the district are encouraged to support families in their native villages.

Ensure quality grievance redressal for petitioners: Collector
Puttaparthi: District Collector TS Chetan emphasized that grievances submitted by citizens must be resolved promptly and with quality, ensuring satisfaction for every petitioner who approaches with hope. He instructed officials from all departments to act swiftly and transparently. The Public Grievance Redressal Platform (PGRS) was held at the Grievance Hall in the District Collectorate on Monday. He, along with Special Deputy Collectors Vijayasaradhi, Suryanarayana, Rama Subbaiah, and RDO Suvarna, received petitions from people across the district. He stressed that officials must conduct thorough field-level inquiries, resolve issues transparently, and complete the process within the given timeline. He urged them to avoid delays, reopenings, or cases going beyond SLA, and instead ensure resolutions that satisfy the applicants. Petitions received included issues related to land disputes, ration cards, housing site allocations, and pension approvals. A total of 266 petitions were submitted: 71 from Puttaparthi, 87 from Penukonda, 75 from Dharmavaram, and 33 from Kadiri. As part of the programme, he distributed eight laptops to specially-abled students pursuing higher education, supported by the District Association for the Differently Abled and Elderly. The event was also attended by District Manager G Archana and other staff members.
