Aryna Sabalenka's millionaire boyfriend who was rock through personal tragedy

Daily Mirror09-07-2025
As the world No.1 women's tennis star Aryna Sabalenka prepares to play in the Wimbledon semi-final, we take a look at the man who has been by her side throughout personal and professional trauma
Tennis superstar Aryna Sabalenka has proved why she is ranked as the world 's No1 seed during her 2025 journey at Wimbledon. She hadn't dropped a set at SW19 until she faced Laura Siegemund on Centre Court in the quarter finals.
That match proved much tougher for Belarusian Sabalenka as she battled her own frustrations and an outstanding start from Siegemund, seeded 104. The favourite fought back though and eventually won the game through gritted teeth after a tense finale, meaning she now goes through to the semi-final against No 13 seed, Amanda Anisimova.

Watching the unexpected drama unfold from the stands was Sabalenka's strapping boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis. At times the 36 year old Brazilian, whose family comes from Greece, looked concerned as he raised his tattooed arms to touch his face whilst watching his girlfriend, 27, face the biggest test of her tournament so far.

It's doubtless nothing he can't handle though as he is used to seeing his partner through difficult times. The handsome pair went public in July 2024 with an Instagram post, just four months after her former boyfriend died.
American National Hockey League (NHL) star Konstantin Koltsov, 42, passed away in an "apparent suicide". Koltsov made 144 appearances in the NHL for the Pittsburgh Penguins and was the head coach of Russian club Salavat Yulaev at the time of his death.

In a statement Miami-Dade police confirmed: "According to investigators on Monday, March 18, 2024, at approximately 12.39am, Bal Harbour Police and Fire Rescue were dispatched to the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, 9703 Collins Avenue, in reference to a male that jumped from a balcony." They also stated there was "no foul play suspected".

He and Sabalenka dated for around three years but they had split up when the tragedy happened. Her last public post to him was a year before his death when she wrote: "I love you @koltsov2021. Happy birthday my love. Peace be with you, strength, patience and health."
Following the awful news Sabalenka once again took to Instagram and shared: "Konstantin's death is an unthinkable tragedy and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken. Please respect my privacy and his family's privacy during this difficult time."
Sabalenka is thought to have first met Frangulis at the beginning of last year when she became an ambassador for Oakberry - the superfood company he founded. When they went public their multiple pictures appeared to show a couple who were very comfortable with each other. Alongside one cute video where she was riding on her boyfriend's back she commented: My love of my life."

It was clear that she was spending plenty of time with her new man following her devastation at having to pull out of Wimbledon 2024 with a shoulder injury on the morning of her first match.

The pair shared snaps of them "out and about" and on a tennis court while Sabalenka was trying to get fit again. The muscular Frangulis certainly shares her love of fitness and sport.
He is a stock car driver and his health food company, which uses the acai berry as its main ingredient has been so successful it's thought the entrepreneur is now worth an estimated £55million.

David Beckham and Amanda Holden lead celebrations after Lionesses' Euros triumph

Social media is ablaze with celebrations and congratulatory messages following the Lionesses' historic win in the Euro 2025 final. Tonight, England took on Spain live from St Jakob-Park in Basel, Switzerland, in the hopes of replicating their Euro 2022 success against Germany at Wembley. And boy did they, as Sarina Wiegman's squad triumphed over their former rivals, having lost to Spain once before in the World Cup final. With no intention of admitting defeat at any point, the 1-1 game was taken to penalties, which led to England thrashing their opponents 3-1 and going on to lift that glorious trophy. It's safe to say the scenes were emotional as the Lionesses pulled one another into hugs and wiped away tears after Alex Greenwood, Niamh Charles, and Chloe Kelly scored in their shoot-outs, causing the stadium to erupt. The reactions were just as wild back home, too, as celebrities including Piers Morgan, Amanda Holden, Rylan Clark, and Alan Carr were keen to wish captain Leah Williamson and her teammates a very big well done. 'BOOOM! Well done @Lionesses – and great to see an Arsenal star score the winning penalty. Congrats @chloekelly', posted long-time Arsenal fan Morgan on X. 'YESSSSSSS @Lionesses GO ON GIRLLLSSSS', wrote an excitable Rylan. Alongside a snap of herself with Williamson at Glastonbury last year, country music icon Shania Twain had the most fitting use for her most famous lyric, writing: 'SO happy for the Lionesses … Let's f***ing go girls!!' 'They've done it again.. Back To Back! Massive', tweeted Rio Ferdinand alongside a smiley snap with the team. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer penned: 'Champions! Congratulations @Lionesses — what a team. What a game. What drama. You dug deep when it mattered most and you've made the nation proud. History makers.' And while a homecoming parade will be held in London on Tuesday for the Lionesses, Labour leader Sir Keir previously suggested a bank holiday would not be implemented if the team were to win, despite overwhelming demands from footie fans. Over on Instagram, Spice Girl Mel B posted, 'Yes yes yesssss!!! Girl power!!!!!!!!' on her Story, while Jess Glynne, who is dating Alex Scott, also watched along from home. The Hold My Hand hitmaker shared a video of her TV and could be heard shouting: 'Come on, the girls! What are you sayin'? Oi oi! Proud of you! Come on.' Ever the supportive girlfriend, she also shared a clip of Scott, whom she began dating in 2023, presenting for BBC Sport, writing alongside it sweetly: 'My womannnnn'. Elsewhere, Holden and Carr watched the nail-biting final together, along with their crew, as they are currently away shooting their new series of Amanda & Alan's Greek Job. The hilarious TV duo filmed themselves soaking up the glory as England won the match before bursting into the Three Lions anthem. Ashley James also filmed herself and showed her family giddy with joy after Kelly successfully bagged the winning penalty, while Stacey Solomon caught the action from her widescreen TV in Pickle Cottage. The Loose Women and Sort Your Life Out star was joined by what sounded to be her entire brood, who grew justifiably rowdy once England's victory was sealed. 'Smashed it gals', Solomon wrote alongside a gorgeous clip of her sons dancing around in the living room. Also watching from home was Romeo Beckham, while dad Sir David Beckham posted a slew of pics in the aftermath of the win. Ever the patriot, the sporting legend's Insta Story was full of lion and England flag emojis as he heaped praise on the 'champions' and tagged several players, adding a special 'well done' to Michelle Agyemang. While Becks is currently holidaying in sunnier climates with his famous family and therefore not at tonight's match, one public figure who did put in an appearance was Prince William. More Trending The Prince of Wales took daughter Charlotte to the final and later shared a joint personal message in celebration. This also marked the first time the 10-year-old Princess has ever signed off an official message. It read: 'What a game! @lionesses, you are the champions of Europe and we couldn't be prouder of the whole team. Enjoy this moment @England. W & Charlotte.' The Prince of Wales, who is patron of the Football Association (FA), sat next to the PM for the match and later made his way to the pitch for the trophy ceremony. Other famous faces sharing their reactions to England's epic win this evening included Peter Andre, James Bond favourite Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jessie Ware, Ashley Cain, and Amelia Dimoldenberg. Watson reaches 100 caps for Scotland

Charlotte Watson celebrated her 100th cap for Scotland with a spectacular solo goal, but the Tartan Hearts were broken by a 4-3 scoreline in the second of two hockey Test matches with France at The University of Edinburgh Playing Fields at Peffermill. The 27-year-old, who also has 34 caps for Great Britain and competed in the Paris Olympics last year, forced a turnover just outside the French D and drove for goal, leaving the defence in her slipstream. Then the player, who has recently signed to join English club side, Wimbledon, calmy picked her spot before firing in the net after 22 minutes. The home side were 3-0 down at the time and that sparked a comeback which lead to the Scots equalising at 3-3 with a deflected goal from Sarah Jamieson (Watsonians) 12 minutes later for 3-2 and the leveller arrived from Katie Birch with ten minutes remaining. That was just after the French goalkeeper, Violette Ferront, made a superb pad save, sticking out her left leg to send the ball to safety. The aggressive French side, who held the Scots 1-1 in the first test at the same venue on Saturday after losing a practice game 2-1 at Peffermill on Thursday, netted through Yohanna Lhopital after 52 minutes following a penalty corner to stun the home side in their last competitive outing before the EuroHockey Championships in Germany next month. Delfina Gaspari had opened scoring after 1min 52sec, capitalising on slackness in the Scotland defence, and Eve Verzura scored again seven minutes later with LHopital making it 3-0, chipping the ball over the advancing Scotland goalkeeper, Jessica Buchanan, after 19 minutes making it a long way back for Scotland. The narrow win is undoubtedly a boost for France who are ninth ranked in Europe, two places below the Tartan Hearts who open their EuroHockey Championship campaign against England on August 10 (9.15am) in Monchengladbach. Then they play Spain 24-hours later (2.30) and finish their qualifying pool by squaring-up to Belgium on August 13 (11.15). Chris Duncan, Scotland's head coach, has much to ponder as the clock ticks down towards the EuroHockey Championships, including lack of real penetration in the final third despite enjoying a large slice of possession, and also his side's failure to convert more penalty corner chances, only one taken in ten attempts. Watson confirmed it had taken over nine years to hit three figures for Scotland but the former Dundee Wanderers player does not see herself playing on to reach 200 caps. She started her senior international career during a Test match against South Africa in Cape Town in 2016 and progressed to being a member of the Scotland Commonwealth Games squad in 2018 in the Gold Coast in Australia. Her CV includes scoring the second and clinching goal in the final of the EuroHockey Championships, Second Division, in Glasgow in 2019 as the home side won gold. She then received a call from the Great Britain selectors and she made here first appearance during a Test match against Japan in Hiroshima before playing in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Now she is looking to help steer Scotland to a high placing in the EuroHockey Championships also in Munchengladbach. At her last appearance there she scored a memorable and game-clinching goal as Scotland edged Spain 2-1 to record one of their finest victories in recent times. Spain were ranked No 8 in the world at the time, Scotland were No 19, but Watson was sent clear by Dunfermline-raised Eve Pearson and she slid the ball low into the right-hand corner for 2-0.
