Battlefield 6 release date, price and beta weekend dates — Everything you need to know
Battlefield fans will soon get their hands on the highly-anticipated 'Battlefield 6' and experience what developers describe as a 'genre-defining, must-play first-person shooter experience you can't get anywhere else.' At the 'Battlefield 6' reveal livestream, broadcast Thursday on YouTube and Twitch, developer EA Games showcased new maps, modes, gameplay mechanics and the highly anticipated official release date. EA confirmed the new game will be released globally on Oct. 10, with two open beta weekends scheduled for August. 'Battlefield 6' will go head-to-head with ' Call of Duty Black Ops 7 ,' also scheduled to be released sometime later this year. 'Battlefield 6' will cost US$69.99, or around $97 for the standard version — keeping with the previous announcement by EA's CEO that the company isn't looking to jack up the price to US$80. The Phantom Edition costs US$99.99 or around $137.90. The high-tier version includes exclusive in-game content like additional soldier and vehicle skins, weapons packages and tier skips. The two are joining Black Ops alum Michael Rooker, who is set to reprise his 'Black Ops 2' role Both the standard and Phantom editions are now available to preorder on digital store fronts, which will give players access to the two beta weekends in August. The beta weekend events allow those who preordered to play the game ahead of the launch and provide early feedback to developers. Players who signed up to be a Battlefield Labs participant can also get prelaunch access, while others can watch partnered streamers on Twitch to earn early access privileges through Twitch Drops — in-game rewards viewers can earn by watching Twitch content. The first live open beta weekend will run from Aug. 9-10. The second is scheduled for Aug. 14-17. The game can be preloaded as early as Aug. 4 and be played during the beta weekends. Learning from Battlefield 2042's biggest pitfall at launch, the new Battlefield will bring back the single-player campaign, which storytelling fans missed from the last game. 'Battlefield 6' brings players into a post-NATO world on the brink of chaos and 'drowning in turmoil,' set in 2027. The story will follow a group of elite Marine raiders known as Dagger 1 — 3 as they fight to preserve global stability, EA said. From All-Out War to close-quarters chaos. 9 new multiplayer maps hit day one in #Battlefield6 🚁 Players will get to travel around the world, spanning nine new maps, including a remake of Operation Fire Storm from 'Battlefield 3.' At launch, the maps include: 'Battlefield 6' will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation, and PC (Steam, EA App, Epic Games Store) with availability both in retail and digitally, according to information on EA's page. Nintendo console players won't be able to get their hands on the game. The company said it currently has no plans to release 'Battlefield 6' on Switch 2. One of the nine maps to drop on launch features Gibraltar's Old Town, shown here.
