Ram Leelas here are truly unique... Ramcharitmanas says that the Holy City of Prabhu Shri Ram is so beautiful that its glory is praised across the world. I am sure that all of you welcomed the return of Ram Lalla to Ayodhya after 500 years... You had sent Holy water and 'Shila' for building the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. I have also brought something here with a similar sense of devotion. It is my honour to bring a replica of Ram Mandir and some water from the Holy Sarayu..."He also reflected on his previous visit to Trinidad and Tobago more than two decades ago. "When I last visited 25 years... between then and now, our friendship has grown even stronger. Banaras, Patna, Kolkata, and Delhi may be cities in India, but there are also names of streets here. Navaratra, Mahashivratri, and Janmashtami are celebrated here with joy, spirit and pride. Chautal and Bhaitak gana continue to thrive here. I can see the warmth of many familiar faces here. I see curiosity in the bright eyes of the younger generation, keen to know and grow together. Our bonds go well beyond geography and generations..."Praising the Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago, he said, "They left Ganga and Yamuna behind but carried Ramayana in their heart. They left their soil but not their soul. They were not just migrants, they were messengers of a timeless civilisation. Their contribution has benefited this country culturally, economically and spiritually."He added, "The journey of the Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago is about courage. The circumstances your ancestors faced could have broken even the strongest of spirits. But they faced hardships with hope. They met problems with persistence."Calling the Indian diaspora "our pride," PM Modi said, "As I have often said, each one of you is a Rashtradoot, an Ambassador of India's values, culture and heritage."Referring to Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar 's ancestral ties, PM Modi said, "Prime Minister Kamala ji's ancestors lived in Buxar, Bihar. Kamala ji herself has visited there. People consider her a 'Bihar ki Beti' (daughter of Bihar). Many people present here have ancestors who came from Bihar itself. Bihar's heritage is a matter of pride not only for India but for the entire world. Be it democracy, politics, diplomacy, or higher education, centuries ago, Bihar showed the world new directions in many such fields. I am confident that even for the 21st-century world, new inspirations and opportunities will emerge from the land of Bihar."Welcoming PM Modi, Persad-Bissessar said, "We are graced by a leader whose visit is not just a matter of protocol but a profound honour for us and so I'm deeply privileged to welcome one of the world's most respected, most admired visionary leader, the honourable Shri Narendra Modi ji, Prime Minister of Republic of India."She praised his leadership and described him as a major force in global politics. 2 Kalindi Kunj lanes to be shut for yatra

Noida: Traffic police are preparing to facilitate the smooth movement of pilgrims through the city as the kanwar yatra is set to begin next week. Traffic restrictions will be put in place at the Chilla border and two lanes will be blocked at Kalindi Kunj to facilitate pilgrims' movement. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Pilgrims travel from Haridwar via Meerut and Ghaziabad, pass through Noida, and continue onward to Delhi and Faridabad. Devotees are set to enter Noida from the Mayur Vihar area, proceed via the Shani Temple and Okhla Bird Sanctuary, and exit at Kalindi Kunj, covering approximately 4km within the city. Anticipating heavy footfall, the traffic police held a preparatory meeting on Thursday and announced the formation of a dedicated 'Kanwar Cell' to manage the yatra. This unit will oversee traffic arrangements and ensure safe passage for pilgrims from July 11 to Aug 9. "The first major rush is expected on July 14, a Monday, when a large number of devotees traditionally begin their journey after collecting water," a police officer said. Police personnel will be stationed at Sector 14A to manage the entry of pilgrims from Mayur Vihar. Traffic on Chilla Road will be briefly halted to allow safe passage, and additional personnel will be deployed along the designated route. A control room will also be established at the Noida Entry Gate in Sector 14A to monitor the situation in real-time. At Kalindi Kunj, two of the four lanes between the Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Okhla Barrage will be closed to facilitate the movement of pilgrims. Nearly 1,000 devotees travel through Noida per day during the Kanwar Yatra. Commuters at Kalindi Kunj, which is a major link between Delhi and Noida, are likely to face traffic congestion during this period once the restrictions come into effect. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In neighbouring Ghaziabad, a coordination meeting was held on Wednesday comprising senior police officers from Ghaziabad, Delhi, Noida, Hapur, Baghpat, and Bulandshahr, to discuss issues of traffic and law and order during kanwar yatra. In Ghaziabad, the Kanwar route stretches 25km from Muradnagar to Tila Morh and 42.5km from the Kadrabad border to the Delhi-Ghaziabad border. Traffic diversions along this route will be in effect from July 11 to 24. The kanwar yatra, held annually during July and August, is a significant Hindu pilgrimage during which devotees collect sacred water from the river Ganga in Haridwar and offer it at Shiva temples in their hometowns.

57km stretch under CCTV watch for Kanwar Yatra

Prayagraj: The Prayagraj police are gearing up for the Kanwar Yatra, which begins on July 11, by implementing a robust security plan along the 57 km stretch from Daraganj/Sangam to Handia on the Prayagraj-Varanasi highway. The entire 57km stretch will be put under CCTV coverage to maintain surveillance. DCP (Ganga Nagar) and nodal officer (Kanwar Yatra) Kuldeep Singh told TOI that one lane of the Prayagraj-Varanasi highway will be reserved for kanwariyas starting July 10. "We will be holding an inter-departmental coordination meeting and reviewing the arrangements. Apart from a safe route, streetlights and lighting arrangements (no loose wiring), deployment of fire tenders and extinguishers, as well as ambulances, an elaborate security plan has been drafted for the safety of kanwariyas," he said. The DCP claimed that barricading will be done on routes so that no stray cattle or vehicles could enter the kanwar path. Besides, the entry of heavy and commercial vehicles will be restricted on the route. Vehicular movement will be restricted from July 10 to August 9 on the Prayagraj-Handia-Varanasi route. Drones will be deployed to maintain surveillance at four prominent Shiva temples: Someshwar Mahadev (Naini), Mankameshwar Temple (Kydganj), Padila Mahadev (Tharwai), and Kundaura Mandir (Saraymamrez). Fire tenders will be deployed at both temples and Kanwar routes. Additionally, traffic police authorities will issue an advisory to divert heavy vehicles, especially freight carriers, to different routes. Officials said the route diversion plan will be applied from every Saturday to Tuesday. As the majority of kanwariyas are expected to arrive in the city on Saturday/Sunday to take holy water from the Ganga and start their yatra towards Varanasi to offer jalabhishek to Lord Shiva at Kashi Vishwanath Dham on Monday, officials of the Prayagraj police commissionerate have inspected the route. Duties of Jal Police and PAC (flood control) will also be assigned at Sangam and other ghats to regulate the flow of kanwariyas.
