Analysts at Citigroup (C) hiked their price target on SMCI stock to $52 from $37, citing improving demand for the company's AI servers and the ramp-up of Nvidia's (NVDA) newest processors that run on Super Micro Computer's servers.
However, despite raising its price target, Citigroup maintained a Hold-equivalent neutral rating on SMCI stock, pointing to increasing competition from the likes of Dell Technologies (DELL) and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). 'We remain concerned on margins given increased momentum and competitive efforts by DELL and HPE, which we believe will temper margin expansion expectations.'
Earnings Outlook
Super Micro Computer is expected to report Fiscal fourth-quarter financial results in early August. Citigroup forecasts revenue of $6.07 billion, up 13% year-over-year and 32% quarter-over-quarter, and earnings per share of $0.45, roughly in line with consensus estimates on Wall Street.
SMCI stock has been volatile over the past year as the company has dealt with an accounting scandal, potential delisting from the Nasdaq exchange on which it trades, and rising competition in the market for AI servers. So far in 2025, Super Micro Computer's stock has risen 63%.
Is SMCI Stock a Buy?
The stock of Super Micro Computer has a consensus Moderate Buy rating among 14 Wall Street analysts. That rating is based on six Buy, six Hold, and two Sell recommendations issued in the last three months. The average SMCI price target of $40.92 implies 17.70% downside from current levels.

Citi, Ant International pilot AI-powered FX tool for clients to help cut hedging costs

SINGAPORE (Reuters) -Citigroup and Singapore-based financial technology firm Ant International have launched a pilot program using artificial intelligence to help clients better manage foreign exchange risk, the companies said on Friday. The program combines Citi's Fixed FX Rates solution, which is widely used by the banks' clients in sectors such as e-commerce, with Ant International's Falcon Time-Series Transformer model, an AI forecasting tool that helps businesses reduce hedging FX costs, according to a joint statement. The pilot program, developed initially for aviation clients, has already been used in live transactions with a major Asian airline able to reduce cost in its fixed FX hedging for online ticket sales, the companies said. "The 30% hedging cost savings Ant International has achieved for the pilot airline customer shows the cost efficiency that can be achieved with AI-enabled FX hedging," Kelvin Li, general manager of Platform Tech at Ant International, said. "We are excited to expand the solution with Citi to serve more businesses and industries," he added. Ant International is an affiliate of China's fin tech giant Ant Group, founded by billionaire Jack Ma. It provides global digital payment, digitisation and financial technology and has operations across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. The launch came six months after Citi began rolling out new AI tools to be used by employees in eight countries, providing such access to 140,000 employees globally. Large banks have been using AI tools in more targeted ways. Morgan Stanley has a chatbot that helps financial advisors in interactions with clients, and Bank of America's virtual assistant Erica focuses on day-to-day transactions of retail clients.

Dogecoin Finds Another Corporate Treasury as Bit Origin Aims to Raise $500M to Build DOGE Stake

Bit Origin (BTOG), a Singapore-based crypto mining company trading on Nasdaq, is setting its sights on Dogecoin as the centerpiece of a new crypto treasury strategy. The firm said Thursday it has agreements in place to raise $400 million in equity and an additional $100 million in convertible debt from accredited investors to support the move. The company has already closed on $15 million of the debt, with a significant portion earmarked for its first round of DOGE purchases. Bit Origin is taking a page from a now-familiar corporate playbook: hoarding crypto on the balance sheet. The trend gained momentum after MicroStrategy, led by Michael Saylor, began aggressively accumulating bitcoin in 2020. Since then, other companies have joined in, expanding beyond bitcoin into ether and, in some cases, smaller coins like Dogecoin. Though once considered a joke cryptocurrency, Dogecoin now plays a larger role in crypto markets, buoyed by an active community and celebrity attention. Treasury strategies involving DOGE remain rare, making Bit Origin's pivot notable. The firm, which has been publicly traded since 2019, has seen its stock price crater nearly 100% since listing. It's down 58% this year with a market cap of about $20 million. But Thursday's announcement helped reverse some of those losses, with shares jumping 28% to $0.52. For a company with a shaky track record and limited public visibility, Bit Origin's Dogecoin strategy is a high-stakes gamble on the staying power of memecoins—and crypto treasuries more broadly—as long-term financial tools. DOGE is up 3.6% over the past 24 hours, trading at $0.21.

Why USA Rare Earth Stock Gave Up Some Gains Today

Key Points MP Materials is signing rare earth magnet deals left and right. USA Rare Earth... isn't. MP Materials has revenue and a path to profit. Meanwhile, USA Rare Earth has some optimistic forecasts, but no revenue. 10 stocks we like better than Usa Rare Earth › Rare earths mining start-up USA Rare Earth (NASDAQ: USAR) stock has been on a roll this past week. Ever since rival miner MP Materials (NYSE: MP) signed its $400 million investment deal with the U.S. Department of Defense last week, investors have been betting that USA Rare Earth might be next in line to collect those sweet, sweet government subsidies for itself. But that's looking like an increasingly bad bet. USA Rare Earth is no MP Materials Shares of USA Rare Earth stock are down 7.1% through 1:55 p.m. ET Wednesday, and the reason is simple: USA Rare Earth is not MP Materials. Not even close. In contrast to MP, which has active rare earths mining operations, a refining business gearing up, and a nascent rare earth magnets business too -- all generating more than $200 million in revenue last year, expected to grow that number 30% this year, and then nearly double revenue in 2026 -- USA Rare Earth collected revenue of zero dollars, zero cents last year. This year should be similar, and while revenue may begin in 2026, it's unclear when, if ever, USA Rare Earth stock will turn profitable. Adjusted profits are expected in 2028, but no analysts have a date for when USA Rare Earth might earn a generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) profit. Is USA Rare Earth stock a sell? Meanwhile, MP Materials has signed the Pentagon to a 10-year deal to buy rare earth magnets at guaranteed prices. And just yesterday, MP announced a separate, $500 million partnership with Apple to buy even more of its magnets. With every passing day, it becomes clearer which rare earth stock both government and corporate America prefer to partner -- and its name isn't "USA Rare Earth."
