Integrity must be embedded in all levels of Sabah's administration
He said it is his aspiration to see the state governed with integrity, accountability and wisdom, supported by sustainable development plans that prioritise the people's well-being.
'I believe with strong leadership and the support of the people, Sabah will continue to grow and prosper,' he said in a special address in conjunction with his 74th official birthday here today.
He delivered the address at the 2025 Sabah Investiture Ceremony at Istana Seri Kinabalu, where 60 individuals received state awards, medals and honours.
Also present were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and other state leaders.
Tun Musa emphasised the need to strengthen development efforts to ensure sustainable and inclusive progress, through close cooperation between the government and the people.
He also stressed the importance of addressing global challenges through progressive approaches, including the promotion of technological innovation, development of quality human capital, and the building of a resilient economy
'Building a dynamic and competitive society is crucial to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the state's development,' he said.
He further called for continued unity among the people, describing it as the foundation for peace and progress in Sabah.
Tun Musa also commended Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and his Cabinet for their commitment to advancing the state in line with a more inclusive and sustainable development agenda.
Sabah Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim led today's honours list after being conferred the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK), which carries the title 'Datuk Seri Panglima'.
Businessmen Datuk Ahmad Fuad Md Ali and Datuk Albert Lim Yu Ming were also awarded the SPDK.
A total of 37 individuals received the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK), which confers the title 'Datuk'. Among the recipients were Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Dr Fuziah Salleh and Kapayan assemblyman Jannie Lasimbang.
Other PGDK recipients included Senator Anna Bell@Suzieana Perian, Sabah Parks director Dr Maklarin Lakim, Amanah Sabah chairman Lahirul Latigu, Kota Kinabalu High Court Judge Alexander Siew How Wai, Sabah Special Branch chief SAC Abdul Rahman Ishak, State Health director Dr Maria Suleiman, and veteran journalist Emin Madi of Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Sabah Bureau.
The first session of the investiture ceremony also saw five individuals receiving the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu (ASDK), four each receiving the Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (ADK) and Bintang Setia Kinabalu (BSK), and six receiving the Justice of the Peace (JP) title.
Earlier, Musa, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, attended the parade held in conjunction with the official birthday celebration of the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah at Padang Merdeka.

Ex-soldier loses appeal over dismissal for refusing Covid-19 jab
PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal today dismissed a former soldier's appeal against his termination from the Malaysian Armed Forces for refusing the Covid-19 vaccination. The three-member bench led by Justice Datuk Azimah Omar ruled that there was no illegality or procedural impropriety on the part of the respondents in dismissing Wan Ramli Wan Seman from service. "The court is of the view that the appeal is without merit and therefore, dismissed," she said. No order as to costs was made. Sitting with her were Justices Datuk Wong Kian Kheong and Datuk Ismail Brahim. Wan Ramli, 43, was appealing against the High Court's 2023 dismissal of his judicial review challenging the decision of the respondents. In his judicial review, Wan Ramli had named Lt-Col Sharull Hesham Md Yasin, Lt Mohamad Azammunir Mohd Ashri, Army Chief General Tan Sri Zamrose Mohd Zain, the Malaysian Armed Forces, and the Malaysian Government as respondents. He sought a certiorari order to quash the termination letter dated Aug 4, 2021, which discharged him from service, and a declaration that the discharge letter was null and void. He claimed that the dishonourable discharge had caused him to lose his right to a pension under Article 147 of the Federal Constitution. Wan Ramli also argued that his dismissal was invalid as it was disproportionate in the circumstances, oppressive, irrational, unreasonable, amounted to unlawful discrimination, and took into account irrelevant considerations. Then High Court judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Md Shahid (now a Court of Appeal judge) had ruled that the decision to discharge Wan Ramli was lawful and not tainted with illegality, irrationality, or procedural impropriety. At today's hearing, Wan Ramli was represented by lawyer Hafiz Norkhan, while senior federal counsel Nurhafizza Azizan and federal counsel Solehheen Mohammad Zaki appeared for the respondents.

Malaysia, Brunei confident in Asean's role as model for peace
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Brunei have agreed that Asean, as an economic bloc, can continue to serve as a model region in promoting diplomacy and global peace. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this was agreed upon during a brief telephone conversation with the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, during a visit to the Asean Secretariat in Jakarta today. This comes following the immediate and unconditional ceasefire agreed upon yesterday in the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia. "We discussed Asean matters and efforts to reconcile Thailand and Cambodia, which yesterday agreed to an unconditional cessation of all forms of violence. "We are confident that Asean will continue to serve as a model region in upholding diplomacy and global peace," he said in a statement today. Cambodia and Thailand Cambodia and Thailand agreed to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire amid their ongoing border conflict. The agreement was reached yesterday following a special meeting involving Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and acting Thai Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, with Anwar serving as host and Asean Chair.

Malaysia stays calm, committed to legal route on Sulawesi Sea dispute, Anwar says in Jakarta visit
JAKARTA, July 29 — Malaysia has never adopted an aggressive stance in addressing maritime border issues with Indonesia, including the long-standing dispute in the Sulawesi Sea, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said. At a dialogue with the Association of Malaysian Indonesian Journalists (ISWAMI) and chief editors of major Indonesian media outlets here today, Anwar stressed that Malaysia remains committed to legal frameworks and diplomatic negotiations. 'We follow the legal path. We do not take an aggressive stance. Both sides must avoid encroaching into each other's territory,' he said. Anwar, currently on a working visit to Indonesia, is accompanied by federal and state leaders, including Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, whose presence, he said, is meant to facilitate discussions with Indonesia, particularly on matters involving East Malaysia. Also present at the meeting were ISWAMI Malaysia president Ashwad Ismail, ISWAMI Indonesia president Asro Kamal Rokan, ISWAMI Malaysia deputy president Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman, and Indonesia Chief Editors Forum (Forum Pemred) representative Taufiq Rahman.
