Stock markets close flat; Eternal jumps nearly 11%

Benchmark stock indices Sensex and Nifty closed almost unchanged in a volatile trade on Tuesday (July 22, 2025) as gains in quick commerce and private banking shares were offset by losses in oil & gas and IT shares.
The 30-share BSE Sensex ended 13.53 points or 0.02% down at 82,186.81. During the morning trade, it climbed 337.83 points or 0.41% to 82,538.17 but lost momentum later.
The 50-share NSE Nifty dipped 29.80 points or 0.12% to settle at 25,060.90.
A lack of clarity over the U.S.-India trade deal ahead of the August 1 deadline and profit booking by FIIs hit the market sentiment, experts said.
Among Sensex firms, Eternal jumped the most by 10.56% in a post-result rally. Food delivery and quick commerce firm Eternal, which owns the Zomato and Blinkit brands, on Monday (July 21, 2025) reported a consolidated net profit of ₹25 crore for the June quarter, as continuing investments in quick commerce and going-out businesses weighed on its bottom line.
Titan, Hindustan Unilever, Bharat Electronics, Maruti, ICICI Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra were also among the gainers.
However, Tata Motors, Adani Ports, State Bank of India and Reliance Industries were among the laggards.
In Asian markets, Shanghai's SSE Composite index and Hong Kong's Hang Seng settled in positive territory while South Korea's Kospi and Japan's Nikkei 225 index ended lower.
European markets were trading mostly lower. The U.S. markets ended mostly higher on Monday (July 21, 2025).
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹1,681.23 crore on Monday (July 21, 2025), while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought stocks worth ₹3,578.43 crore, according to exchange data.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude dropped 0.97% to $68.54 a barrel.
On Monday (July 21, 2025), the Sensex climbed 442.61 points or 0.54% to settle at 82,200.34. The Nifty jumped 122.30 points or 0.49% to 25,090.70.

Vimta Labs share price today: Shares of Vimta Labs have moved higher by 14 per cent to ₹578 on the BSE in Friday's intra-day trade amid heavy volumes in otherwise a weak market. The stock price of smallcap company is trading close to its record high level of ₹591.50 touched on February 12, 2025. In the past six trading days, the stock rallied 24 per cent. At 12:50 PM; Vimta Labs was quoting 13 per cent higher at ₹572, as compared to 0.7 per cent decline in the BSE Sensex. The average trading volumes on the counter jumped over five-fold. A combined 5.62 million equity shares representing 12.62 per cent of total equity of Vimta Labs have changed hands on the NSE (5.16 million shares) and BSE (0.46 million shares). Vimta Labs Q1FY26 results In April to June 2025 quarter (Q1FY26), Vimta Labs reported revenue of ₹99.3 crore, up 31.4 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y), which was driven by pharmaceutical & food contract research and testing services. Profit after tax increased 35.9 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹18.9 crore from ₹13.9 crore in a year ago quarter. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) margin improved to 35.7 per cent from 35.2 per cent. Vimta completed a successful United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) Good Clinical Practice (GCP) inspection with zero Form 483 observations and received a letter of cGMP compliance from ANSM (EMA) during the quarter. Vimta Labs company outlook Vimta Labs is positive about its growth prospects in clinical, pre-clinical, non-clinical, biopharmaceutical, pharma analytical, and electronics & electrical contract testing and research, all of which have a strong positive outlook despite the current global economic uncertainties, large competition, and stricter regulatory compliance requirements. The company has a strong customer base, and promising pipelines, which give it good visibility of growth over the medium term. Over the long term, the company expects it will strategically look at acquisition opportunities or alliances or partnerships to enhance its market reach, capabilities and service portfolio, to gain further market share. Vimta Labs, in its FY25 annual report, said that the trend in growth of the overseas market for the company is positive going forward. The domestic market continues to hold immense potential led by economic growth in the country. However, inflationary pressures in terms of cost of manpower, technology and material, and pricing pressures due to proliferation of laboratories in the country could be a risk to watch out for, the company said. Suryoday Small Finance Bank shares slipped 6.7 per cent in trade on Friday, logging an intra-day low at ₹129.15 per share on BSE. The selling pressure on the counter came after the company posted Q1 results. At 12:38 PM, Suryoday Small Finance Bank share price was trading 4.08 per cent lower at ₹132.8 per share on BSE. In comparison, BSE Sensex was down 0.79 per cent at 81,536.82. The market capitalisation of the company stood at ₹1,411.46 crore. Suryoday Small Finance Bank Q1FY26 results Suryoday Small Finance Bank posted its first quarter ended June 30, 2025, results on Thursday, after market hours. In Q1, the company reported a 49.6 per cent decline in net profit to ₹35.3 crore, as compared to ₹70.1 crore a year ago. Its net interest income (NII) stood at ₹247.1 crore as compared to ₹293.2 crore a year ago, down 15.7 per cent. Gross advances grew 20 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) to ₹10,846 crore as compared to ₹9,037 crore. Deposits grew 39 per cent to ₹11,312 crore as compared to ₹8,137 crore Y-o-Y. Current account savings account was flat Y-o-Y to 17.7 per cent. Gross non-performing asset (GNPA) increased 579 bps to 8.5 per cent and net non-performing asset (NNPA) was up 520 bps to 5.6 per cent. Disbursements stood at ₹2,261 crore in Q1 FY26 as compared to ₹1,740 crore in Q1FY25, an increase of 30 per cent Y-o-Y. The bank, in its statement, said that the microfinance sector's stress continued to weigh on the NII and credit costs, thereby impacting profitability for the quarter. However, with improved collection efficiency in Inclusive Finance and the underlying strength of the Bank's diversified portfolio-especially the secured retail and MSME segments-positions it well for improved performance going forward. It added: Looking ahead, the bank remains confident in its strategy of continuing focus on individual loans (Vikas Loan) in Inclusive Finance, diversifying the asset mix, strengthening the deposit franchise, and leveraging digital platforms. The investments made in credit protection mechanisms, customer acquisition through digital platforms, and focused execution in priority segments are expected to support consistent and profitable growth through FY26 and beyond.
