India's top soccer league 2025-26 season suspended
'In the absence of a confirmed contractual framework beyond December, we find ourselves unable to effectively plan, organize, or commercialize the 2025-26 ISL season,' the FSDL said in a letter to clubs. 'The season is on hold until further clarity emerges on the contractual structure,' it added.
ISL club Kerala Blasters announced Friday it allowed Spanish striker Jesus Jimenez to leave for a club in Poland.
There is still optimism, however, that there will still be a new season. 'The ISL will go ahead, maybe not with the name of the ISL,' Delhi FC director Ranjit Bajaj told The Associated Press, adding that he blames mismanagement from the federation.
Earlier this month, India's national team parted ways with coach Manolo Marquez after poor results put qualification for the 2027 Asian Cup in doubt.

The good news for England fans was Bashir is expected to bowl in the (India second) innings of this test. The off-spinner took the wicket of India century-maker Lokesh Rahul on Saturday. 'Whether Bashir who has played in every match of the series appears in the fourth test at Old Trafford next week will be assessed after the Lords test,' England said.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's javelin star Arshad Nadeem and India's Neeraj Chopra will reignite their rivalry in August when the two sportsmen compete at the Silesia Wanda Diamond League 2025 competition scheduled to be held in Poland, the official website of the Olympics said this week. This will be the first time Nadeem and Chopra will face each other since their charged encounter at the Paris 2024 Olympic final, where Nadeem clinched gold ahead of Neeraj with an Olympic record-shattering throw of 92.97 meters. The Wanda Diamond League is an annual sports competition featuring elite athletes across sprints, jumps, throws and distance events.
