Rangers staff 'shocked' by ex-ultras boss links to gang feud
McGill, who joined the Union Bears at 14, led the group until 2021. His leadership reportedly gave him unrivaled influence at Ibrox, granting him access to all areas of the stadium – including no-access zones on game days.

The ex-staffer, who requested anonymity for safety, told the Daily Record: 'Everyone at Rangers was completely shocked when it was revealed McGill is the man behind this gang war in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
"We are talking about a guy who was given access to the stadium any time he wanted and was permitted into restricted zones on match days.
'He was trusted by the club more than most of the security staff and was respected by the players, managers and directors.
"Nobody could have had even the slightest idea about his life of crime. We were led to believe that he ran his own business.
"But it did seem strange that he just walked away from the club after being such a central figure for a number of years."
The Record reported that a source claims McGill built criminal connections while travelling with the ultras, later fleeing abroad after the 2020 Encrochat crackdown exposed him.
From Dubai, he formed a new gang, Tamo Junto (TMJ), and launched firebomb and machete attacks after allegedly being ripped off by Richardson's crew.
'McGill runs TMJ like the Union Bears,' one source told the Record, noting that the gangster 'command[s] loyalty' and doesn't know his men 'personally'.

The feud began in Edinburgh before spreading to Glasgow, with TMJ claiming responsibility for several attacks.
Victims include Richardson ally David McMillan, whose home was torched twice before he was attacked with machetes.
Steven 'Bonzo' Daniel, head of the Daniel clan, and family members were also targeted. Attacks included smashed bulletproof windows and a firebombing at Bonzo's home.
The widow of gangster Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll, Kelly 'Bo' Green, had her Drumchapel home attacked with her child inside.
Despite over 40 arrests made so far, TMJ warned their war will rage on for 'many years.'

EXCLUSIVE: The Daily Record can reveal the taxpayer is set to pay the former SNP CEO's legal bills. Taxpayers are set to foot the bill for former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell 's legal costs after he was charged with embezzlement. Solicitors acting for Nicola Sturgeon 's estranged husband have had an application for legal aid approved. Murrell, 60, was SNP CEO for over twenty years before he stood down from the post in 2023. He was arrested later that year as part of the Operation Branchform police probe into SN P finances, but released without charge. He was then charged in connection with embezzlement and appeared in court in March. According to the Scottish Legal Aid Board, an application for solemn legal aid by his solicitors was granted on April 30th and no payments have been made to date. A spokesperson for the SLAB said: 'When assessing an applicant's eligibility for legal aid we look at their financial position at the time of their application to ensure they meet tests set by legal aid legislation. 'This includes information they give us about their salary, the amount of money they have in the bank and any investments, which might be available to fund their own defence privately. ' Peter Murrell 's application met the tests we have to apply when deciding whether to grant legal aid.' It is unclear what Murrell 's final salary was at the SNP, but the party's 2023 accounts showed his successor, Murray Foote, started on £95,000. Foote quit last year and was replaced by Carol Beattie. When Murrell appeared at a private petition hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, he made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination and bailed. The Crown Office said there are no dates for a future hearing. Labour MSP Jackie Baillie said: 'Taxpayers will be scratching their heads at why they should have to foot the bill for Peter Murrell - a man who has been charged with embezzlement. It is also particularly galling that Peter Murrell will be receiving legal aid after the SNP government has repeatedly ignored warnings about the financial pressures raised by lawyers." Scottish Tory MSP Liam Kerr said: 'It will stick in the throats of hard-pressed Scots that they're picking up the tab for this disgraced former SNP Chief Executive, especially at a time when his party have squeezed the legal aid budget.' Murrell and Sturgeon married in 2010 and were regarded as Scotland's most prominent political power couple. In an Instagram post, she announced earlier this year that their marriage had ended: 'With a heavy heart I am confirming that Peter and I have decided to end our marriage.' 'To all intents and purposes we have been separated for some time now and feel it is time to bring others up to speed with where we are. It goes without saying that we still care deeply for each other, and always will. We will be making no further comment.' Sturgeon was arrested as part of Operation Branchform in 2023 and released without charge. She is no longer a suspect.

Despite horrendous conditions, Kory's family were undeterred in sending a message to Scotland's justice minister - and called for hope to be returned to the streets. The heavens opened as their Parents Against Knives procession kicked off after the youngster's dad Neil, 57, and mum Elizabeth, 44, were greeted by Rangers legend Mark Hateley at Ibrox before walking four miles to Celtic Park. The couple released a blue love-heart balloon with the words, 'love mum and dad' into the sky . They then unfurled a large banner emblazoned with their darling boy's picture and the words 'Parents Against Knives, Save Our Children'. The marchers carried on through the sodden streets to Celtic's ground, which sits right next to their home in the Barrowfield area of the city. Scottish Tory shadow justice secretary and North East MSP, Liam Kerr, said: 'The high number of weapons being brought into schools across Aberdeen is frightening.
