Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Specs vs. Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: How Each Fold Phone Compares

CNETa day ago
Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 debuted the biggest redesign the book-style folding phone line has seen thus far. The new phone has a body that's slim enough to feel like a standard phone when closed and unfolds to reveal an 8-inch display. This reimagining also comes at a higher $2,000 price, making it easily the priciest phone of its category compared with similar offerings like Google's $1,799 Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Google's folding phone was also notable for being a redesign over the prior Pixel Fold. This included a 6.3-inch external display that is similar in size to the standard Pixel 9 Pro and unfolds to provide access to its own 8-inch display. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold runs on the Tensor G4 processor, the same as the rest of the Pixel 9 line. However, the 9 Pro Fold does change up its camera setup from the standard 9 Pro, by featuring a 48-megapixel main lens, a 10.5-megapixel ultrawide, a 10.8-megapixel telephoto and 10-megapixel selfie cameras on both the cover and inner screen.
Samsung's new Fold phone also runs on the same processor as the Galaxy S25 line, featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. It also borrows from the Galaxy S25 Ultra by including a 200-megapixel main camera alongside a 12-megapixel ultrawide, 10-megapixel telephoto and two 10-megapixel selfie cameras across the cover and inner screen. Samsung's new Fold is about 0.5 inches (1.6 mm) slimmer than the Pixel when closed, and 0.03 inches slimmer when open.

Why Lucid Stock Dropped, Then Recovered Friday

Key Points Investors may be rethinking the deal that brought monster gains for Lucid yesterday. Uber plans to deploy at least 20,000 Lucid EVs over the next six years. An influx of cash from Uber is good news for Lucid shareholders. 10 stocks we like better than Lucid Group › Lucid Group (NASDAQ: LCID) stock had its largest intraday gain ever yesterday. Shares of the luxury electric vehicle (EV) maker gained as much as 45% before closing about 36% higher in Thursday trading. But investors are rethinking that move today. Lucid stock sank as much as 8% this morning as investors digested two huge bits of news from yesterday. As of 11:50 a.m. ET, shares have recovered from that drop and remain near breakeven for the day. Big news for Lucid, or just a head fake? Lucid joined ride-sharing leader Uber Technologies and self-driving technology company Nuro in announcing a new partnership yesterday. The companies plan to deploy at least 20,000 Lucid electric vehicles (EVs) beginning next year for a premium robotaxi program exclusively for Uber's leading ride-hailing platform. On the surface, that sounds like a massive win for Lucid. The company produced only about 9,000 vehicles last year and expects a total of about 20,000 this year. So it would represent a welcome backlog to Lucid's order book at a time when it needs to grow volume. The total EV deployment is expected to be spread over six years, however. The deal includes a $300 million investment by Uber that will help deepen the relationship for autonomous luxury EVs on the Uber platform. The Lucid Gravity SUV enabled with Nuro's Level 4 self-driving system provides a 450-mile range on a full battery charge. That should help reduce expenses in Uber's vehicle fleet. Lucid is still high risk Along with the new partnership, Lucid also announced it plans to implement a 1-for-10 reverse stock split. A reverse stock split shows Lucid isn't coming from a position of strength. It still needs a broader customer base for its products. One good sign investors can look for is a boost in 2025 delivery guidance when it reports its second-quarter update on Aug. 5. Lucid stock may tread water until then. JPMorgan eyes new research frontier with coverage of private firms, source says

By Nupur Anand and Manya Saini (Reuters) -JPMorgan Chase has begun publishing research notes on prominent private companies transforming industries, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters on Friday. With many industry-leading private companies delaying public listings, they are attracting a growing share of investor capital, prompting institutional investors to track them more closely at earlier stages. Companies such as ChatGPT-maker OpenAI, Elon Musk's SpaceX and TikTok-parent Bytedance now hold valuations that rival or surpass several major S&P 500 firms, blurring the distinction between public and private market influence. The largest U.S. lender released its first report on OpenAI, the company that spurred Wall Street's AI gold rush, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters. Unlike traditional research notes, these brokerage reports will not feature estimates, price targets or ratings, Hussein Malik, head of global research said in the memo, which highlighted AI and software as core areas for private company coverage. "Private companies are becoming increasingly relevant to various industries, especially in the new economy space," Malik said. "The goal of this offering is to support our investor clients by providing structured information and tracking, offering deeper insights into key disruptors and their impact on the sectors in which they operate." Institutional investors are increasingly focused on private company research and investment opportunities as these firms develop technologies that influence mature sectors, the source added. Nearly 1,500 private startups have achieved unicorn status, having raised funding at valuations above $1 billion, according to PitchBook's tracker. North America leads globally with over 1,000 unicorns, collectively valued at nearly $4 trillion. As private companies play a growing role in transforming legacy industries, Wall Street is adjusting to rising demand for insights into these influential firms, reflecting a shift in how market power is assessed. Why Dell Technologies Shares Are Climbing Today

July 18 - Shares of Dell Technologies (NYSE:DELL) surged about 3% Friday after Bank of America projected the company's earnings per share could nearly double by 2030, driven by rising demand for enterprise and sovereign AI infrastructure. BofA analysts said Dell's EPS may climb to $19.01 by the end of the decade, fueled by expanding AI server deployments and a rebound in cloud-related capital expenditures. Revenue growth is expected to accelerate to 12% annually over the next five years, up from 2% in the previous five. The firm added that AI-related investments could prompt a shift from elevated operating costs to increased capital spending across the enterprise segment. That trend, it noted, may drive stronger operating profit and cash flow through the end of the decade. While margins could be pressured by the mix of AI hardware, Bank of America expects overall profitability to rise as adoption widens. It reiterated a Buy rating on Dell and raised its price target to $165 from $155. This article first appeared on GuruFocus.
