Opposition conspiracies can't stop us from working for the poor: Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka

KHAMMAM: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday alleged that leaders of opposition parties are hatching conspiracies as they are unable to digest the fact that the Congress government is successfully implementing welfare schemes.
Addressing a public meeting after distributing the Indiramma house pattas (land titles) to beneficiaries at Madhira, Vikramarka said: 'The opposition is worried because we are successfully implementing all the welfare schemes. No matter how many conspiracies are hatched, we will stand by the people and continue to work for their welfare.'
'These welfare schemes are aimed at eradicating poverty. Our objective is to provide a home and restore dignity to every person in the state. We spent Rs 22,000 crore on the Indiramma housing scheme in just one year, which is a record in the country. From a newborn child to the elderly, there is a welfare scheme for everyone,' he added.
Stating that there are 1.1 crore families in Telangana, the deputy CM said: 'The Indiramma government is providing at least one welfare benefit to nearly 93 lakh families. In just one-and-a-half years, we have implemented some form of welfare programme for every stage of life, from birth to old age,' he said.

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat government on Wednesday said the enrolment ratio of girl students has seen a sharp rise of 16 per cent because of the 'Namo Lakshmi Yojana' which was launched last year to promote education among girls from economically weaker sections. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the scheme in 2024 with an aim to enrol more girls in Classes 9 to 12, reduce the dropout ratio, help them in their education and thereby empower these female students. Under the scheme, the government provides Rs 50,000 over a period of four years to girls who would complete Classes 9 to 12. This scheme is applicable to girls whose family income is less than Rs 6 lakh per annum, said an official release. A senior official of the state Education Department said the scheme has achieved the goals as envisioned by Patel. During the last one year, Rs 924 crore in financial assistance has been distributed to 10.83 lakh eligible female students from Classes 9 to 12 under the Namo Lakshmi Yojana, said Principal Secretary, Education Department, Mukesh Kumar. "This scheme was launched with an aim to encourage education among girls studying in secondary and higher secondary schools. Under the guidance of our CM Bhupendra Patel, this scheme has met with huge success," he noted. "During the last one year, we have disbursed Rs 924 crore in assistance to nearly 10.83 lakh female students. Moreover, the enrolment ratio of girls in these standards have increased by 16 per cent, which proves that the scheme is successful in meeting its objectives," said the bureaucrat. Akshara Diwan, a Class 11 student from Mehsana district, said the financial assistance provided by the government helped her in purchasing textbooks and other study materials. "I want to study further because I want to become a police officer. I am using the fund received under the scheme for purchasing textbooks, stationery and other study materials," said Diwan. Shailesh Prajapati, a beneficiary parent from Mehsana who works as a potter, thanked CM Patel for introducing this scheme. "Financial crunch is the main issue poor people like me face everyday. South Indians run dance bars, they should not be awarded food supply contracts in Maharashtra, says controversial Shiv Sena MLA

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena MLA representing Buldhana assembly segment, Sanjay Gaikwad has stirred a fresh controversy, this time, by targeting South Indians. He said on Thursday that South Indians "run dance bars and ladies bars" hence they should not be awarded food supply contracts in Maharashtra. "Why was a contractor named Shetty given the contract? Give it to a Marathi person. They know what we eat and will give us good quality food. South Indians run dance bars, ladies bars and spoil Maharashtra's culture. They have corrupted our children. How will they serve good food?" Gaikwad, the Maharahtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena MLA said. On Tuesday evening, furious at being served "rotten" dal and rice, Sanjay Gaikwad assaulted a canteen staffer at the MLAs' hostel in Colaba and manhandled another. A video of Gaikwad hitting and punching the canteen staffer had gone viral on Wednesday drawing condemnation from the opposition. Sanjay Gaikwad is second time MLA from Buldhan state assembly constituency in Maharashtra. Gaikwad got elected in 2019 against the Congress candidate Harshvardhan Sapkal who is presently president of Maharashtra Congress party. In 2024, Gaikwad won the state assembly elections against Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Jayshree Shelke by 841 votes in Buldhana where Prakash Ambedkar led Vanchit Aghadi candidate bagged 7146 votes. In the past too, Gaikwad had stoked several controversies. In September 2024, he announced a reward of Rs 11 lakh for chopping Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's tongue for comments made during his US visit on reservation system. An FIR was registered against Gaikwad following his announcement.
