ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) — The British and Irish Lions used their final tour match ahead of the first test against the Wallabies to overwhelm an Australia and New Zealand combined side 48-0 on Saturday.
The Lions led 17-0 at halftime and poured on the tries in the second half before 43,124 fans, a record for rugby in the Australian rules-mad state of South Australia.

Scotland's Duhan van der Merwe scored two of his three tries in an early 13-minute span as the Lions won for the fifth time in five matches on their Australian tour.
Controversial mid-tour replacement Owen Farrell came off the reserves bench in the 50th minute to a smattering of jeers from the traveling Lions fans. Farrell hasn't played international rugby since the 2023 World Cup and had played no rugby in nine weeks and only 18 minutes in the last 10 weeks.
The former England captain replaced the injured Elliot Daly to make it onto his fourth Lions tour.
In the 36th minute, England hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie was knocked out after attempting a tackle. He was taken off the field by stretcher after sustaining an apparent head or neck injury.

The first combined Australia-New Zealand XV since the 1989 Lions tour included 17 internationals, including the entire starting side. But the AUNZ team could do little against the Lions lineup, most of whom won't feature in the opening test next Saturday at Brisbane.
The Lions were 4-0 coming into Saturday's match since a 28-24 loss to Argentina in a warmup in Dublin. They have beaten all of Australia's Super Rugby franchises. Before the ACT Brumbies on Wednesday, they defeated the Western Force, Queensland Reds, and New South Wales Waratahs.
The second test is set for July 26 in Melbourne, followed by Sydney on Aug. 2.

Cowboys set to part ways with playmaker as NRL rivals poach exciting young talent
North Queensland coach Todd Payten has confirmed the Cowboys are set to lose one of their playmakers and club juniors at the end of the season. 'Cliff' is probably another week away, I've spoken about that, (he was) touch-and-go for this week,' the Cowboys coach added. "But we need him to be able to do all parts of his game, which is kicking and running at top speed. Duff's coming back from injury. I think Jaxon (Purdue) in the centres allows us some more speed on the edges, and Duff's clear and calm when he talks and directs the team around, which is an advantage.' Payten has made it clear that he views Purdue as the Cowboys' long-term five-eighth to play alongside halfback Tom Dearden. But Clifford is arguably more suited to the utility role than Duffy and could find himself filling that slot for the Cowboys moving forward, while also providing a handy alternative option in the halves. Both players are North Queensland juniors and have been hoping for an extension beyond this season. Duffy was the 2024 Queensland Cup Halfback of the Year and started the NRL season in the halves for the Cowboys, with Clifford out injured. But Duffy failed to lock down the No.7 jersey and Clifford took his opportunity when he returned. The 27-year-old Clifford - who has been linked with a move to the English Super League - has four tries and five try assists in 10 games this season and it may be enough for him to earn a new deal. Valetini returns for Wallabies in crunch second Lions Test
Rob Valetini was named Thursday in Australia's side for the second Test against the British and Irish Lions in Melbourne, a big boost for the Wallabies ahead of a clash they must win to keep the series alive. Back-row marauder Valetini, hooker David Porecki and lock Will Skelton all return from injury to add physicality to a Wallabies side outmuscled as a hardened Lions won the opening Test 27-19 in Brisbane. Garry Ringrose withdrawn from Lions squad due to concussion
Garry Ringrose was a last-minute withdrawal from the British and Irish Lions team to face Australia on Saturday because of concussion, head coach Andy Farrell has revealed. Farrell had intended to field an all-Ireland centre combination of Bundee Aki and Ringrose at the expense of Scotland's Sione Tuipulotu and Huw Jones for the Lions' shot at completing a series triumph at Melbourne Cricket Ground. However, the concussion symptoms that ruled Ringrose out of the 27-19 victory in the first Test returned during Thursday's final training session. Farrell was leaving the practise field to officially announce the team when Ringrose self-reported the setback, resulting in the late change to the Lions' midfield plans. The symptoms resurfaced despite the Ireland star playing 64 minutes in his comeback against the First Nations and Pasifika XV on Tuesday. It means Jones continues at outside centre and is joined by Aki in a repeat of the combination that started the 52-12 rout of Queensland Reds on July 2. Aki has been brought in due to Tuipulotu being ruled out by a tight hamstring. 'Garry was actually selected and unfortunately after training he's had to pull out,' Farrell said. 'It's head-related again. It was literally as I was walking off the field. He came to me, and once that's mentioned, that's that. 'There was no incident. He was feeling good well in advance of Tuesday. He was fit and ready to play. 'There was no incident through the game on Tuesday at all, nothing yesterday (Wednesday) and nothing this morning, but with these type of things players are getting very good at telling the truth of how they feel, so it was a no-brainer to make the change straight away. 'It's very easy to keep it to yourself and lie and not be honest and open. It was very big of him and the right thing to do, 100 per cent. For the team as well, not just for Garry. 'It's unfortunate for Garry but we've always said it's about the squad, and nothing but about the squad.'
