EXCLUSIVE Olivia Attwood hits out at the 'stigma' of WAG culture and insists her footballer husband doesn't contribute to her lavish lifestyle

Daily Mail07-07-2025
She became a bona fide WAG when she tied the knot with footballer Bradley Dack in a lavish central London ceremony in the summer of 2023.
But Olivia Attwood has hit out at the 'stigma' of being the partner of a successful sportsman, insisting she funds her lavish lifestyle and has worked 'relentlessly' since being catapulted to fame when she left the Love Island villa in 2017.
The TV personality, 34, dated Bradley, 31, prior to entering the ITV reality show and he was already a footballer playing for League Two team Gillingham FC.
Olivia slammed 'gold digger' claims and said it doesn't matter what job her husband has because she works 'seven days a week'.
She told MailOnline: 'I think people are like, "She works seven days a week, surely she's got some f*****g cash".
'Maybe in the beginning when Brad and I first started dating, there was a bit of a stigma around it [dating someone who plays sport for a living].
'And people can kind of go, "Oh", a bit of an eye roll and stupid comments like, "Oh my gosh she's with him cos he plays football".
'I've got my own money, so it doesn't really matter what he does for a job.'
Straight-talking Olivia shot to fame thanks to her stint in the Love Island villa in the summer of 2017, which saw her reach the show final with her ex-boyfriend Chris Hughes, 32, who she dated until February 2018.
The former grid girl has since become a household name and a regular face on TV, appearing on The Only Way Is Essex, I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, This Morning and Loose Women.
Olivia has also fronted many of her own shows and presented Bad Boyfriends, Getting Filthy Rich and The Price Of Perfection - admitting she has 'bitten the hands off' TV executives for 'big jobs, little jobs, whatever I could get'.
But this success did not come overnight and she told how she 'grafted' when she left the villa while working relentlessly to get where she is today.
Olivia told MailOnline: 'Post Love Island, I knew where I wanted to be. I knew I wanted to stay working in television, and I was very dedicated to that, and everything I've done is working towards that bigger goal.
'I've been very patient and I've learnt the craft, I'm still learning, I've taken the big jobs, the little jobs, whatever I could get, I just bite their hand off for it.'

'Relentlessly pursuing that bigger goal and I'm working really hard at it, it doesn't come overnight', she added.
'Even when you get a big platform like Love Island, you still need to prove yourself to people.
'I think sometimes people become impatient off the back of reality shows, but these kind of things, they don't happen overnight, you have to stick with it. It takes graft.'
Olivia has enjoyed the spoils of a lavish lifestyle thanks to her lucrative television career and is regularly seen toting around Chanel and Hermes handbags.
She has also enjoyed many luxurious trips throughout the years - in the last nine weeks she has been seen in France, Miami and Ibiza.
In her popular TV documentary, Price Of Perfection, Olivia was very candid about her own cosmetic tweakments and confessed she spends a 'couple of grand a month' maintaining her image.
Olivia and footballer Bradley originally began dating before she went looking for love in the Mallorcan Love Island villa in 2017.
The pair met at a nightclub in the West End back in 2015 after being introduced through mutual friends.
They dated on and off for three months before the romance fizzled out and Olivia decided to go on Love Island - later confirming Bradley was the ex she spoke about in her introduction clip.
Olivia and Chris broke up in February 2018, less than a year after they reached the final of Love Island - and it wasn't long before the star was back with Bradley, with the couple reuniting in early 2018.
Olivia announced their engagement in October 2019, sharing sweet snaps of the couple on a beach in Dubai after the footballer popped the question.
Alongside the photos, she wrote: 'He must be crazy... Here's to forever. I love you BD.'

Nepo babies used to get on our nerves – now they've got the upper hand

This week, Brooklyn Beckham shocked his followers when he shared a video of himself rustling up a tomato pasta dish using seawater. In the clip posted to his Instagram, the would-be chef leans off the back of a luxury yacht and dips a silver saucepan into the sea, before bringing the briny to boil and plopping in some spaghetti. 'That's disgusting,' one person commented. Others said: 'Nothing like cooking in sewage water …' and – possibly most devastating of all – 'Go get a real job PLEASE!!!!!!' Beckham, 26, has long faced criticism from nepo baby haters for using his privileged position as the eldest child of David and Victoria Beckham to his advantage in his various 'careers'. His amateurish seawater pasta is but his latest clueless foray into the world of work. He irritated established fashion photographers when, aged 16, he was hired by Burberry to shoot its latest fragrance campaign. In a juvenile collection of his photographs, published by Penguin Random House, his shot of a dimly lit elephant was accompanied by a caption: 'Elephants in Kenya. so hard to photograph but incredible to see.' In 2022, his career relaunch as an chef-influencer, with his straight-to-Instagram show Cookin' with Brooklyn, reputedly required a team of 62 professionals, including culinary producers, cameramen and several producers – and cost a staggering £74,000 an episode to make. Nothing like starting at the bottom and working your way up, is there? When Oasis return to Wembley Stadium this weekend, for the first time since 2009, as part of the brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher's reunion tour, they will be supported by Richard Ashcroft of The Verve. But eyes have no doubt rolled at Liam's daughter Molly and Ashcroft's son Sonny gracing the front of the new issue of Tatler, as cover stars for their latest Cool Britannia issue for the same reason: they are only famous because of their parents. In the cover photo, Molly, 27, a model, is standing on an elaborate gilded French stool in a blue leather mini-coat, with musician Sonny, 25, who is hoping to release music soon – wearing a tie against the backdrop of a huge Union flag. The trouble with nepo babies – a phrase coined in 2022 that shortens 'nepotism', and which Gwyneth Paltrow dismissed as an "ugly moniker" with which to beat the children of famous people – is that they are successful only because their famous parent(s) helped them get their foot in the door. Those that are talented struggle to escape the pervasive feeling that their connections and money have given them a headstart that other equally talented people won't get. The resentment is that it's grossly unfair as the rest of us have to claw our way to the top. We can't just walk into a movie role, or capitalise on being the next generation leading the Britpop revival. To win favour, nepo babies shouldn't deny or hide their privilege like Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis's daughter Lily-Rose Depp, 26, did when she once claimed in Elle magazine that 'nothing is going to get you the part except for being right for the part'. This week, Isadora Bjarkardottir Barney, 22-year-old daughter of Icelandic singer Björk, claimed that being a nepo baby 'doesn't help you much', after landing her first leading role in a feature film, The Mountain. Hailey Bieber tried to embrace the term by wearing a 'Nepo Baby' crop top in 2023, to acknowledge her Baldwin family dynasty links, but was then criticised online for 'not being enough' of a nepo baby. Stranger Things actor Maya Hawke – daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman – tried a different tack, admitting what a privileged position she is in, compared with the rest of us. Since the whole debate erupted with New York Magazine's 2022 cover The Year of the Nepo Baby, things have changed. I say it's about time we stopped hating on nepo babies. Today's nepos – nepo 2.0, the next generation – are fully aware of their ridiculousness, and they're now actually playing up to it. Because they can't help who their famous parents are – and what else are they supposed to do? That's why Beckham now courts criticism and finger-pointing laughs by cooking seawater pasta, and why the Oasis nepo babies are happy to push their status as cultural icons for a new generation. The difference is the new breed of nepo babies aren't struggling with the nepo label. They are just happy to weaponise it and get up in our faces. Blue Ivy Carter, 13, the daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, has been dubbed a positive example of nepotism in the music industry for her stage presence and talent after she brazenly adopted the role of chief backing dancer for her mum's Cowboy Carter tour – often stealing the limelight. Kai Gerber, 23, looks the spitting image of her supermodel mum Cindy Crawford – for a reason. She's continuing Crawford's legacy in the fashion industry. Nepo babies offer the rest of us light relief in dark times. Getting ahead because of mum and/or dad isn't going away – so we might as well enjoy it.

Coleen Nolan, Corrie's Ken Barlow & other celebs ask me to read their pets' minds… I charge £130 a pop – I'm no fraud

A "DOG whisperer" charges £130 a pop to read the minds of people's pets - and has worked with Corrie's Ken Barlow and Coleen Nolan. Psychic Jackie Weaver says one of cobbles stalwart William Roache's dogs revealed a secret about its owner to her - and she even performed her "gift" on Loose Women star Coleen's pooch on live TV. 5 5 5 Jackie, 61, claims she first realised that she 'knew' impossible things as a child and that she always had a 'close connection' with animals. However, Jackie says she only learned to receive 'pictures, words and physical feelings' from animals later in life after beating stage four lymphoma. All she needs is a picture of the animal to connect with a 'wavelength' in her mind - like a mobile phone - which allows her to chat to the dog or cat. During her cancer battle, she says she was told by another psychic her mysterious 'connection' was actually a powerful psychic ability. Now, Jackie runs a successful business where she tunes into the minds of cats and dogs to reveal their innermost secrets to their owners. She works closely with many famous celebrities, who are fans of her spiritual service, including soap veteran Roache, and even hypnotist Paul McKenna. Jackie has remained close friends with Roache, whom she knows as Bill, ever since appearing with him on This Morning - and she's even gotten close to his dogs. Jackie said: "I went to Bill's house and chatted to all three of his dogs. "We had such fun and they were all very individual in their own ways. "What makes me smile to this day was when one pointed out that Bill often started hobbies but tended not to complete them! "Bill's face was a picture as he pointed to a door and said, 'Behind that door is a painting that is half finished, and it has been like that for the past two years!' "Just goes to show, animals know much about their owners, celebrities or not." Jenny Seagrove, star A Woman of Substance, is also a longtime customer of Jackie's - having become her friend during one psychic reading. Despite her immense popularity, though, Jackie says that she finds that people are 'sceptical' about her abilities. One doubter was Loose Women panelist Coleen Nolan, whom Jackie met when she appeared on the show. Jackie said: 'I have done a lot of TV over the years and had to prove again and again, often live on air, that I am communicating with that person's animal and they are recognising the information. 'I remember chatting to several animals live on air, for the ladies of the Loose Women panel. 'Coleen Nolan was open with me and said she was still not sure about my ability, until I told her the reason why her dog only had three legs and what had happened.' 5 5 During the episode, Jackie said that Coleen's dog lost its leg when it was 'very young' as she received a direct message from the pooch - who said it had 'always known life like this'. Jackie claimed that Mika, the dog, had lost its leg after falling from a height. Coleen confirmed that she had rescued her dog, adopting him after he fell from a sofa and lost his leg. Some of the animals that Jackie meets have heartbreaking stories to share, like one horse who told the psychic that it has been supported by 'the angels'. The horse had fallen into a cattle grid and was unable to be rescued by the Fire Brigade. However, somehow, the horse suddenly freed itself from its trap. Trying to understand the bizarre incident, the horse's owner called Jackie - having thought that the horse had 'given up'. Opening up about the story, Jackie said: 'I suddenly heard, loud and clear, 'The Angels lifted me out'. 'I interrupted her, and quickly thought of how to put this, and said, 'This might sound odd, but all of a sudden did he seem to be up and out?' 'She said, 'Yes, it was astonishing and nobody could believe what they had just experienced. He had a few scrapes on his but was absolutely fine.' 'I told her what he had said about the Angels. I get goosebumps to this day when I recall it. 'Like my work, and my own 'terminal' survival, sometimes things happen that we can just not explain.' Often, Jackie works with animals who are about to die and claims to be able to let owners know what their animals are thinking. According to her, animals can tell owners about their pain and even reintroduce them to pets who have passed on. She says this serves two purposes. Jackie said: 'Firstly, they know their pet will not be alone when they pass over, and there is an afterlife. 'This is not the end. 'Secondly, the owners have experienced the grief of losing a pet before and came through it, eventually.' According to Jackie, every animal is different and each one has its own unique personality - with her own cat acting 'like a dog' who likes to go on walks. Because of that, she doesn't have a favourite type of animal to chat to. She said: 'I do not have a favourite species of animal to chat to - they are all individuals and I love it when I learn something new - you would be amazed what information animals can share. 'Funny animals are fabulous as I love to laugh and make people smile.'

Love Island fans slam Dejon for ‘turning his back' on best mate Harry as viewers rage ‘he's worse than him'

LOVE Island fans have slammed Dejon Noel-Williams for "turning his back" on pal Harry during last night's episode. The drama hit new heights after Harry Cooksley was exposed during the infamous Grafties Awards, leading the entire villa to shun him. 4 4 4 In the clips shown, Harry was seen flirting up a storm with Shakira Khan, Emma Munro and Angel Swift, much to the dismay of his partner Helena Ford. His actions led to even his close pal and confidant Dejon washing his hands of him, as the shamed star headed outside to sleep on the day beds. However, viewers at home have lashed out at Dejon and have argued that the pair have egged each other on all series. One fan expressed on X: 'Dejon was actively encouraging Harry's antics, going along with it to stop Harry settling down and therefore being competition to him. 'When Harry's actions have caught up on him, Dejon distances himself so it doesn't affect his own game! Game player!' Another unhappy viewer fumed: 'Dejon turning his back on Harry after being in his ear all season and co-signing his behaviour is definitely something. That boy is calculated.' Somebody else wrote: 'Dejon has been entertaining Harry's actions for the entire time and suddenly now his PR is in the mud, he's distancing himself. I am telling you this man is worse.' A fourth Love Island enthusiast commented: 'Dejon completely turning on Harry shows you the sort of fake game player he is. Harry's done wrong but to completely turn on your best friend in there in his time of need most is crazy.' While a fifth criticised: 'The way Dejon threw Harry under the bus as if he wasn't his accomplice throughout every bad behaviour Harry has done is wicked. With friends like that, who needs enemies.' Helena was shown a clip of Harry telling his ex Emma that he still loved her and planning a date on the outside. She raged: 'I didn't expect you to be sat with your ex-girlfriend talking about getting back into bed with her. "You just don't shut things down. You entertain everyone and everything.' The tense episode also saw Harry reveal his true feelings for both Shakira and Helena, as he told Conor Phillips how he really felt. He said: 'I'll be honest mate - and I know you're probably gonna tell her this. I think it's more friendly, for me. 'I just feel like, with Shakira it was way more natural in my opinion. It was more relationship-focused, more emotional. I feel like I was way more into her." After hearing this, Conor told him: "That's fine man, that's how you feel. No one can blame you for how you feel. But you just need to communicate it man." Relaying his feelings for Shakira to a frustrated Helena, she decided to finally end things for good with him. She told him Shakira wasn't going to be with him and 'I don't wanna be with you either,' before storming off. Her close pals Megan Forte-Clarke and Meg Moore praised her for 'standing on business' as they rallied around her and refused to give Harry the time of day.
