British punk rockstar Colin Jerwood dies aged 63 after a short illness as his band pay tribute to 'our dear friend'
Colin Jerwood, the frontman of British punk rock band Conflict has died aged 63.
The news was announced on the band's social media on Monday night, with a statement from his family reading: 'It is with a very heavy heart to announce Colin passed away after a short illness'.
'We know for his supporters that this is difficult news to hear.'
The band added in the statement: 'As you can imagine we are struggling to find the words to describe how sad and upset we feel upon hearing of the loss of our band member and dear friend Colin.'
'We extend our deepest condolences to James, Georgia and the rest of Colin's family and friends.'
The band also shared a link to an online memorial page where fans can donate to charity in Jerwood's memory.

'We kindly request that you do not attend his funeral,' they told fans. 'His family will be reading through any comments on the memorial page, and your presence will be felt.

Punk group Conflict was originally based in Eltham, South London after being formed by Jerwood in 1981 amid the punk boom in the UK.
The band are well known for their stances on animal rights and anti-facism and were still performing live in recent years, with gigs planned for the coming days across Scotland and Manchester.
The original lineup consisted of Colin, Francisco 'Paco' Carreno, John, Steve, Pauline, and Paul a.k.a. 'Nihilistic Nobody'.
Former band drummer, Francisco "Paco" Carreno, died in 2015, aged 49.
They released their debut EP on Crass Records in 1982, and would later form their own Mortarhate Records label.

Seeming to confirm he was the man behind the songs, Matty finished his speech on the stage at Glastonbury by "reminding people of his poetry" by going into their song Chocolate. ALDI has issued an urgent warning to shoppers not to eat a popular sandwich filling as it could contain plastic. Shoppers at the bargain supermarket have been told that the food item is "unsafe to eat". The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a notice this afternoon that BM Foods Ltd is recalling its Chicken Cooked Meat Trimmings. Officials say the product should not be eaten as it could contain pieces of plastic and a risk of choking. The FSA said that notices would be put up in Aldi stores where the items are sold telling customers to return them. In the notice, the agency said the product contains "possible presence of pieces of plastic in the products which presents a choking hazard and makes them unsafe to eat. It added: "Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. "These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products." They advise not to consume the product and to instead return it to your nearest Aldi store for a full refund. In response to the item being recalled, Aldi said: "As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling selected packs of Chicken Cooked Meat Trimmings because they may contain plastic. "Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given." The FSA issues Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about any problems associated with food. In some case a 'Food Alert for Action' can be issued which details a specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers. It's not the only product to be recalled by Aldi recently either. Music enthusiasts wanted to tune into the BBC and their iPlayer streaming service to watch the latest from Worthy Farm. 5 5 5 If you wanted to watch the likes of Scissor Sisters and Charli XCX then you would have to switch the channel. The BBC coverage of the 2025 Glastonbury Festival has been dogged by technical errors. Even at the festival itself, the opening ceremony was branded a flop by disappointed festival-goers. During a set on The Other Stage, the screen cut to black for many BBC viewers today. And it's no better online for those watching iPlayer as the main Saturday feed also suffered from a huge technical difficulty. Those wanting to watch Scissor Sisters were greeted with an apology message that was emblazoned on the screen. It read: "Sorry for the interruption. We're working to fix this." Glasto fans flooded social media in their droves as they were left fuming by the blunder. Writing on X - formerly known as Twitter - one expletive-filled fan fumed: "F****** hell @BBC you cut Blossoms short and now Scissor Sisters when it's just a black screen. Sort it out." A second stated: "Scissor Sisters have been on stage 8 minutes and the screen is still black! Jay-Z's top bill booking was met with a flurry of digs, including some from Oasis's Noel Gallagher, who claimed hip hop had no place at the festival. In a perfect clap-back, Jay-Z walked out to a version of Wonderwall before launching into his powerful hit 99 problems. Seven years later, his pal Kanye West followed in his Glastonbury footsteps and topped the bill. Metallica (2014): Thrash metal rockers Metallica were met with raised eyebrows when they were announced as Glastonbury headliners. Some critics claimed they lacked mainstream appeal, while others felt they were past their prime. However, frontman James Hetfield managed to quickly win the crowd round thanks to his good humour and polite manners. Adele (2016): Although Adele wowed both festival goers and music fans at home with her headliner set, the British songstress did cause a stir by turning the air blue. She warned the crowd about her "potty mouth" but not everyone was impressed with with the 30 plus expletives she dropped on the stage during her headline set, which aired on the BBC.
