Govt owned GRSE signs MoUs in Denmark & Sweden to make propulsion equipment and cruise vessels

New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): The Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) last week signed two strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in Denmark and Sweden.MoU between GRSE and Berg Propulsion, a global leader in the development, manufacturing, and supply of marine propulsion systems, at Berg Propulsion's head office in Hono, Sweden, was signed on June 05. This MoU aims to leverage the combined capabilities and technical expertise of both organisations towards the manufacture of propulsion-related equipment and systems, with a specific focus on ongoing and future governmental projects.On the other hand, GRSE signed an MoU with Denmark's SunStone, a leading provider of expedition cruise vessels. This MoU highlights the intent for future collaboration in the area of expedition cruise vessels and was signed in Copenhagen.'These strategic engagements are in line with GRSE's vision to expand its capabilities and strengthen its role in the global maritime sector through meaningful international collaborations,' GRSE said on a social media platform called 'X'.Recently, a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) was signed by Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler und Rehder GmbH & Co. KG, Germany and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) for the construction of an additional 4 numbers of 7,500 DWT multi-purpose vessels. These vessels will have hybrid propulsion and will adhere to the latest cybersecurity norms. This is in addition to an existing order of 8 such vessels currently being constructed at GRSE's Kolkata yard.GRSE also signed MoUs with Aries Marine LLC from the UAE on collaboration on 'Construction of Offshore platforms and Vessels' and with a Global Engine Manufacturer.In March, keeping with its commitment to deliver top-quality warships to the Navy and Coast Guard, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd, successfully completed the Contractor Sea Trials (CSTs) of two platforms. New Delhi [India] July 16 (ANI): As India observes AI Appreciation Day, industry leaders from across the technology, startup, and enterprise landscape highlighted the transformative role of artificial intelligence in shaping the country's digital future, adding that AI has become an enabler of growth and innovation. From startups to multinationals, the leaders say AI is no longer just a tool; it is a catalyst for inclusive progress, digital equity, and sustainable innovation. AI Appreciation Day celebrates the country's growing role in the global AI landscape. The AI journey of India commenced in the 1960s with early computer science research. A significant step came in 1986 with the Knowledge-Based Computer Systems project. In the 1990s, organisations like C-DAC advanced supercomputing and early AI work. By the 2000s, IT companies such as TCS, Infosys, and Wipro began investing in AI, while universities built a strong talent pool. The Digital India push in 2015 and NITI Aayog's 2018 AI strategy accelerated growth. "AI is an enabler of growth and innovation for every corner of India," said Ganesh Gopalan, Co-Founder & CEO of emphasing AI's unique potential in India's multilingual and digitally diverse environment. "On AI Appreciation Day, we celebrate the incredible strides made in voice AI, small language models, and generative AI that bridge linguistic diversity and democratise digital access," he said. Contentstack Co-founder & CTO Nishant Patel sees AI as the silent enabler behind modern digital innovation. "AI has become the engine room of modern digital innovation, quietly removing friction, automating the mundane, and letting creators and developers focus on what truly moves the needle," Patel added. India has emerged as the fastest-growing developer population globally and ranks second in public generative AI projects on GitHub. The country is home to 16 per cent of the world's AI talent, showcasing its growing influence in AI innovation and adoption. For HerKey CTO Murugan Anjunan, AI plays a pivotal role in reshaping the workplace for women. "We don't view AI as a disruptor in isolation, but as a dynamic partner in progress... The future of work is not just AI-powered, but it is human-first, AI-enabled." Echoing similar sentiments, Divye Agarwal, Co-founder of BingeLabs, emphasised AI's impact on creative inclusion across geographies. "AI has become one of the greatest equalisers of our time... From generating content in local languages to pushing it in culturally relevant ways, AI is breaking down barriers that once felt immovable." Manish Jha, CTO of Addverb, outlined how AI is redefining automation while keeping humans at the center. "We see artificial intelligence not just as a tool, it's a catalyst that brings intelligence, adaptability, and a human-centric focus to automation." From an ecosystem perspective, AI&Beyond CEO Jaspreet Bindra offered insights into India's growing AI startup landscape. "It's been a good year for Indian AI startups, with funding increasing by about 40 per cent in 2024 to nearly USD 800 million.""Funding is still very selective, and the number of large deals has actually declined. Startups continue to face issues around data access and quality, a significant talent and skills gap, as well as limitations in GPU availability and compute infrastructure. Most importantly, early-stage funding hasn't been as encouraging as expected. That said, there's a lot of excitement around the space, and we could see an even better year ahead," Bindra added. Apart from the private sector funding, the government has approved an allocation of over ₹ 10,300 crore for the IndiaAI Mission, marking a significant step towards bolstering India's AI ecosystem. Praveen Kumar V, Founder & CEO of Thriftizer Solutions, said AI is reshaping digital commerce. "AI, for me, has automated a multitude of tasks, unrestricted the elbows on my mental framework, and let me direct my capabilities toward addressing real challenges... I expect AI to integrate fundamentally into the convention of designing and fortifying the infrastructure of digital commerce."

Tesla test drive: Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde gets behind the wheel of EV outside state assembly
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was seen taking a test drive in a Tesla outside the state assembly, just a day after the car's launch. The event comes just after the US-based electric vehicle manufacturer's long-awaited debut in India, marked by the opening of the first Tesla showroom in Mumbai. Tesla has officially commenced operations in India with the inauguration of its first showroom, the 'Tesla Experience Centre', at Mumbai's prominent Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on Tuesday. The company has launched its premium SUV, the Model Y, with prices starting around ₹ 61 lakh (on-road). The Elon Musk-owned brand also announced plans to set up four charging stations in the Mumbai Metropolitan region, including locations in Lower Parel, BKC, Thane and Navi Mumbai, completely equipped with superchargers and destination chargers, CNBC reported. The deputy chief minister, who was in a white Tesla, spoke to the media after the ride, stating, 'It is a big deal that Tesla has opened its showroom in Mumbai. Maharashtra has the highest foreign direct investment.' He also added, 'The state has good infrastructure, and investors are willing to invest here because Maharashtra has become an industry-friendly state.'ANI reported. The launch event of Tesla at the BKC showroom was also attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who welcomed Tesla by describing its arrival as 'right city and right state.' Tesla's entry into the Indian market has been a subject of speculation and negotiation for several years, involving discussions on import duties and potential local manufacturing. Fadnavis also expressed optimism about the EV's potential sales, stating, "People in India are eagerly waiting for Tesla. I am sure you will find one of your best markets here once you start deliveries. " Bookings for the Tesla Model Y are now open, and deliveries are expected to commence as early as next month, Mint reported earlier.

ASML drags European stocks lower amid tariff worries
European shares slipped on Wednesday, with ASML leading losses after a weak business update, while broader investor sentiment remained cautious on concerns over tariff-driven inflation following stronger-than-expected U.S. inflation data. ASML fell 6.7% after the world's biggest supplier of computer chip-making equipment warned that it may not achieve growth in 2026, even after its second quarter bookings beat market expectations. The latest earnings forecasts showed on Tuesday that the outlook for European corporate health has deteriorated as U.S. President Donald Trump's most recent tariff statements created further uncertainty for businesses. Additionally, the U.S. CPI reading weighed on market sentiment, renewing worries over tariff-induced inflationary effects. Across the Atlantic, focus now turns to producer price data later in the day for further clues on the impact of tariffs on the world's largest economy.
