Myles Turner leaving Pacers after 10 years for Milwaukee Bucks

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner, the team's longest tenured player with 10 years of service and the franchise's all-time leading shot blocker is leaving the Pacers to sign a four-year, $107-million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Tuesday.
Charania reported that Turner wanted to stay with the Pacers, but the Pacers were not willing to go into the luxury tax to sign him after All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton suffered an Achilles tendon tear that will likely keep him out all of next season.
The 29-year-old Turner averaged 15.6 points per game this season on 48.1% shooting including a career-best 39.6% 3-point shooting, making a career-high 156 3-pointers. He also averaged 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game, finishing third in the NBA with 144 total blocks behind only San Antonio's Victor Wembanyama and Milwaukee's Brook Lopez. He surpassed Jermaine O'Neal's previous franchise record of 1,245 blocks last season and now has 1,412.

Turner struggled in the Pacers' NBA Finals loss to the Thunder, averaging just 10.6 points per game on 37.7% shooting including 21.4% from 3-point range to go with just 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. However, he had strong performances in both the first round against the Bucks and the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Cavs, averaging 13.8 points per game on 48.4% shooting including 34.4% 3-point shooting for playoffs. He averaged just 4.8 rebounds per game in the postseason but had 2.0 blocks per game and his 46 total blocks were the most of any player in the playoffs.

Kevon Looney leaves Warriors for Pelicans

Bringing Kevin Porter Jr. back for the 2025-26 season at an affordable rate (two years, $11 million, according to The Athletic's Fred Katz) was one of the moves that made the most sense for the Bucks this offseason. Porter is only 25 and gives the Bucks an upside play at point guard with Damian Lillard expected to miss most of the regular season as he recovers from surgery on a torn left Achilles tendon. In his first 16 games with the Bucks, Porter averaged 10.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 16.4 minutes per game. Once Lillard went down with the diagnosis of a deep vein thrombosis in his right calf, Porter averaged 14.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game in 24.7 minutes per game, as he took on a bigger role. In that larger role, Porter thrived and earned a place in Doc Rivers' playoff rotation. After some initial struggles in the postseason, Porter found his footing and played well in both Game 4 (23 points, five rebounds and six assists) and Game 5 (11 points, three rebounds and seven assists) against the Indiana Pacers In a second season with the Bucks, Porter should have plenty of opportunity on the ball. Getting to play with Giannis Antetokounmpo more consistently should be a huge help. In 541 possessions on the floor together — which was only about 270 minutes, a very small sample — the two-man combination of Antetokounmpo and Porter was plus-20.1 points per 100 possessions. They scored 125 points per 100 possessions and gave up just 104.9 points per 100 possessions. Per Cleaning the Glass, the offensive production was in the 97th percentile and the defensive production was in the 98th percentile.

Willson Contreras, Nolan Arenado not in Cardinals' lineup against Pirates

Associated Press PITTSBURGH (AP) — First baseman Willson Contreras and third baseman Nolan Arenado are out of the St. Louis Cardinals' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Contreras sustained a left hand contusion during Tuesday night's 1-0 loss to the Pirates when hit by a pitch from Paul Skenes. Arenado will miss a second straight game with a jammed right middle finger. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Wednesday that he is hopeful Contreras and Arenado can play Friday when St. Louis opens a three-game series against the National League Central-leading Cubs in Chicago. The Cardinals entered play Wednesday in third place in the division, four games behind the Cubs. St. Louis has an off day on Thursday. Contreras, a three-time All-Star, is hitting .248 with 11 home runs in 82 games. An eight-time All-Star, Arenado has a .247 batting average and 10 homers in 80 games. ___ AP MLB: recommended

He's got loose enough hips to play some corner but the projection should be safety here where he can roam and make plays. Calicut is an impressive player that will fit right into Kirby Smart's defense in Athens. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GEORGIA FANS AT One of the biggest revelations of camp was O'Brien's ability to play wide receiver. But he was pretty impressive on defense as well. The Notre Dame verbal out of Philadelphia was excellent in coverage at cornerback and safety. He has outstanding length and showed coverage skills, range and instincts in the secondary. His career at Notre Dame will be fascinating to watch. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH NOTRE DAME FANS AT Wyatt was another defender that showed a wide variety of skills during the Rivals Five-Star. He could be a safety in college or a linebacker. Some programs even like him to become an edge rusher. His frame is only going to get more impressive after he enters a college weight program. Wyman got his hands on the ball more than everyone else and consistently forced quarterbacks into bad throws. The Miami commit isn't the biggest defensive back but he has all the traits college and NFL scouts want – elite movement skills, long arms, excellent football instincts and good ball skills. He's got all the tools necessary to be a major impact player for the Hurricanes and become their next great defensive back. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MIAMI FANS AT
