And Just Like That recap: Silly sex, big decisions and a time ‘pre-Lena Dunham'

After watching them chat at work, I'm not quite sure I see it. What I do see is him going to town on a papaya, which feels like both a bit from a classic Sex and the City episode and a dangerous lunch option considering they're sitting on expensive editing gear.
By the end of the episode, LTW's gone from having a sex dream about Marion to confirming there's a mutual attraction. She turned down his invite to see a movie then flip-flopped, then flipped back and ended up pitching her project to the Obamas' producer from the grocery store. Is it bad that I really want to watch her blow up her life and have an affair with Marion?
Everyone's rolling around in bed this episode. Seema and Adam the gardener have fun, silly sex and we see the most gorgeous skin ever captured on film. Everything works and feels easy-breezy, until they go to dinner, and she's annoyed by every single thing about him. Namely: he uses crystal deodorant and his last name is Karma.
Honestly, I get it. No amount of banter and orgasms can cure such a severe case of The Ick once it sets in.
We get a fun gallery plotline with Charlotte this episode – and an appearance from her boss, Mark Kasabian (Victor Garber). Char and her gallerinas are installing a Tracey Emin-style artwork 'from a time pre-Lena Dunham'. While setting up My Bed, Char gets vertigo, of course. These women are falling apart at the seams! It's all an elaborate set-up for her to collapse on a prop condom while shouting for Miranda not to chance a sip of champagne at the gallery opening.
Turns out Joy is so fun and chill she forgets her girlfriend is sober and wants to leave a bottle of her favourite gin at Miranda's place. Wanting to be just as cool and sexy as Joy, Miranda wonders if maybe she's just 'alcohol-ish', and doesn't need that sobriety after all.
For the first time since Harry told Charlotte he had cancer, I was genuinely affected by a scene in AJLT this week, when Miranda goes to the pantry for her choccie biccies while she works (and watches Bi Bingo) late at night, and tests her resolve against the bottle of gin.
She takes it out, puts it back. She opens it. She thinks. Sniffs. Pours a shot. Tips it out.
Just when I exhaled, she went back for it. Oh no. But she didn't even trust the rubbish bin where her infamous slice of cake still got a look-in in season four of SATC. No, the bottle goes down the trash chute, which she doesn't close until she hears it smash. Seems dangerous, but I won't judge. For once.

And Just Like That... to end after three seasons

And Just Like That... is ending after three seasons. The Sex and the City sequel series will finish on August 14 following the conclusion of the two-part finale, showrunner Michael Patrick King announced on Friday (01.08.25). In a message posted on HBO Max's social media pages, he said: "And just like that... the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end. While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That... season three, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. "Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12. "SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season. It's with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years." And Just Like That... launched in 2021 and saw Sarah, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis reprise their Sex and the City roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York Goldenblatt respectively. However, Kim Cattrall did not return as Samantha Jones - although she did make a cameo appearance in season two and has been mentioned in episodes through text messages with Carrie. Sarah admitted recently that she doesn't actually watch the show because she hates seeing herself on screen. The 60-year-old star told Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen: "I don't not watch it because I'm being cavalier about my relationship [to the project]. I don't watch it because I don't love watching my work [and] myself." However, the actress insists that she cares deeply about the programme. Sarah said: "It doesn't touch on how I feel about the experience or how much I care. In fact, it's because I care that I can't watch it." She also played Carrie in the original Sex and the City series - which aired between 1998 and 2004 and spawned two movies - and has always relished the experience of portraying the character because of her alter ego's curiosity about sex. Parker said: "(It) is not like me - I don't talk about that at all even with friends. I'll talk about it globally, but I don't sit and share intimate details of my life that way."

And Just Like That: Huge announcement about SATC reboot's future

And Just Like That … the Sex and the City reboot is wrapping up. The series will come to an end with the two-part finale of the third season, which is currently airing. Ten episodes have been released, and the twelfth will be its last, as showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed on Friday, US time. The cast – excluding lead star Sarah Jessica Parker, who also serves as an executive producer – was told just one day earlier, according to Deadline. 'And just like that … the ongoing storytelling of the Sex And The City universe is coming to an end,' said King in a message posted to Instagram. 'While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That … season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12. 'SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season. It's with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.' Following the release of King's statement, Parker took to Instagram with an emotional tribute to the character she's played for almost three decades, sharing a monstage of clips and a lengthy poem. 'Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all,' the actress wrote. 'I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion. Therefore the most sentimental and profound gratitude and lifetime of debt. To you all.' Parker went on to describe her work on the reboot as a 'joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work', and credited the cast and crew as being 'the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors who joined us.' The sequel to the hugely popular original Sex and the City series, which ran from 1998 until 2004 and later featured two films, premiered in December 2021. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis all reprised their roles in And Just Like That, although Kim Cattrall declined to take part following her widely-publicised feud with Parker. The new series also starred Sarita Choudhury and Nicole Ari Parker, along with original SATC supporting cast members including Chris Noth (albeit for one episode), David Eigenberg, John Corbett, Mario Cantone and Evan Handler. The first season saw Carrie (Parker) grappling to rebuild her life after the sudden death of her husband and longtime love, Mr. Big (Noth), while Miranda (Nixon) explored her sexuality with non-binary comedian Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez) amid the demise of her marriage to Steve (Eigenberg). Season two romantically reunited Carrie with Aidan (Corbett), her ex-boyfriend from the original series, Charlotte (Davis) navigated family challenges, and Miranda moved to LA to be with Che, where things quickly between them quickly fell apart. The current run of episodes has seen NYC-based Carrie and Aidan struggle to stay together as he deals with his son's issues back in Virginia, and as she gets closer to her neighbour, a British author.

Andy Cohen was 'disaster' shooting And Just Like That cameo

Andy Cohen was a "disaster" shooting his And Just Like That cameo. The Watch What Happens Live presenter made a brief appearance as a Bergdof Goodman employee named Daniel in the latest episode of the show and though he only had one line of diaglogue in the scene with Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw, he still struggled. Speaking on his SiriusXM show, Andy said: "I think the line in the script was just like, 'Oh hey, Carrie, I'll be with you in a sec.' "Shooting these shows for me is very difficult. You have to literally walk four steps, say your line at a particular spot, and then keep going. There's a lot of blocking involved, and I just don't — I'm not good at it." After a few attempts, showrunner Michael Patrick King changed Andy's line to: "Hey, Carrie, I'm slammed, I'll be with you in a minute." However, the broadcaster was reprimanded for his intense delivery. He admitted: "When I tell you that I was marching out like, 'Carrie, I am slammed! I'm gonna be with you in a minute!' "And Michael Patrick King comes over after we do it twice and he goes, 'Um, this is a really pivotal scene for Carrie.' He didn't tell me, but now I know that she just had a big fight with Aiden." Michael told Andy: "You're stealing focus from Carrie. The episode title should now be called Daniel's Busiest Day. And it's not about Daniel's Busiest Day, keep it on Carrie!'" Andy also received advice from Sarah. He added: "It was very specific and I was saying it in the wrong place. I was just a disaster. But it was so funny, the idea that it was 'Daniel's Busy Day.'" The 57-year-old producer joked that the scene used was "the best they could get". The scene marked a call-back to Andy's previous appearance on Sex and the City, having played a then-unnamed shoe salesman during the sixth season, with Entertainment Weekly confirming was the same character. But Andy also had another cameo earlier in the original programme's run. He shared a screenshot in 2018 and wrote on Instagram: "You may know that I was a Barney's shoe salesman in the last season of #SATC but were you aware I appeared in Season 4 (I think) shirtless in a gay bar standing next to Carrie Bradshaw? (sic)" However, that scene was cut from TV but can be seen in the DVD.
