BBC Antiques Roadshow guest refuses to sell Titanic letter worth incredible fortune
Antiques Roadshow expert Hilary Kay met a guest whose father worked on the Titanic and survived the sinking of the vessel Antiques Roadshow's Hilary Kay had an eye-opening encounter with guests whose father, Sidney Daniels, was employed as a plate washer on the Titanic at the age of just 18. Sidney was one of the survivors of the tragic sinking and his offspring brought along a letter he penned to the beloved BBC programme. Recalling the fateful night, his daughter stated: "It was a Sunday, he was sound asleep, there was a banging and shouting and it was the night watchman. They were all a bit bleary-eyed because at first they thought it was a drill. "It wasn't until he got up on deck, there were hardly any people around at first and then officers came and turned to him and said, 'Go to these cabins'." She then explained how Sidney had been tasked with waking sleeping guests on the ship, as she went on: "Of course it was hard to wake people, they were asleep. Some reacted in different ways. One or two said 'What does this young man know? He's 18, the boat is unsinkable, we're not going up on deck'. "Others were saying, 'We've got children, they're going to get a chill if they go up on deck'. So he helped the children with the lifejackets and ushered them up on deck." Hilary chimed in on the episode which was re-aired on Sunday night: "You can imagine the scene of chaos and despair because people realised there weren't enough lifeboats." Sidney's son replied: "That was his job, to try and get people into the lifeboats and the water was rising all of the time. When all the lifeboats had gone, the water was up around his knees and he thought, 'It's time to go'. "So he dived off the side of the boat, swam away from it, came to a lifebelt and to my Dad's mind, it was too close to the boat, he was afraid when the boat went down, the suction would take them down so he said to this chap, 'It's no good here, let's swim away'. "Apparently this chap followed him and they just kept swimming. He said he saw a star in the sky which he thought was his mother and swam towards this star and eventually came to this life raft which was upside down and managed to cling onto that." "When he was on there, he said, 'I'm tired, I want to go to sleep,' and the chap next to him said, 'Don't go to sleep lad, if you do, it will be your last'. "So they sat there singing hymns trying to pass the time away." The duo had brought along a letter which had remained tucked inside Sidney's uniform pocket when he leapt from the Titanic, the Express reports. Hillary, clearly stunned by the letter, began to speak about the artefact's significance and value: "It's an extraordinary item and anything related to Titanic has this extraordinary effect on people. It is an extraordinary moment to behold something which is so linked into an extraordinary moment in history." She estimated its worth, saying: "We're talking about around £10,000, is the realistic value."

Rich Holiday, Poor Holiday viewers criticise wealthy family's 'boring' rules on lavish trip
Channel 5 viewers were not impressed with the Dissont family on this week's episode of Rich Holiday, Poor Holiday as they branded them 'boring' and 'pretentious' Rich Holiday, Poor Holiday returned to Channel 5 on Sunday with a new series featuring strangers from opposite ends of the wealth spectrum embarking on two vastly different holidays. However, just minutes into the show, one family sparked outrage among viewers as they outlined their expectations for a luxury trip. The families get to live out each other's idea of an ideal holiday, but what is paradise for one family can be hell for another. This episode saw two very different families sharing their unique experiences, with well-off medics and aesthetics practitioners Sam and Andre Dissont and their 14-year-old daughter Cassia first taking the cash-strapped Leaf family to a posh health resort. Gary, Beth, 13-year-old Grace, and eight-year-old Noah were treated to a five-star stay in a Malta hotel - but the activities that the Dissonts had planned were far removed from what the fun-loving Leafs were accustomed to. Upon arriving at the first destination and meeting up, the Dissonts, who regularly splurge £40,000 on a holiday without batting an eyelid, revealed their preference for a healthy lifestyle. They each indulge in a £1,000 session in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber before jetting off. Once on holiday, they adhere to a strict diet, which includes abstaining from alcohol and consuming plenty of fresh food, and also incorporate exercise into their trips, reports the Express. After revealing their dream holiday, the Dissonts invited the Leafs - known for their extravagant holidays - to join them in their health-focused activities. The families embarked on a schedule packed with private tours of historical sites, sushi restaurants, gym sessions and a snorkelling trip to the blue lagoon. While the Leafs seemed somewhat impressed, they concluded that it wasn't worth the money. Meanwhile, viewers at home labelled the wealthy family as "boring". One disgruntled viewer posted on Twitter: "What a boring family. Oxygen chambers, wanting to go on healthy holidays and come back healthier. What a load of rubbish, sterile to the core #richholidaypoorholiday." Another chimed in: "What pretentious snobs. Wasting a medical education to overcharge people for ridiculous s**t! I hope the poor people don't have to follow their strict rules. Yuck #RichHolidayPoorHoliday. "Wow what a boring family #richholidaypoorholiday," another commented, while one more added: "The rich family have to be the most annoying family they've had on this. Particularly the dad. Giving off accidental partridge vibes. #richholidaypoorholiday." But the Dissonts proved how kind-hearted they are at the end of the show when they gifted the Leafs another holiday to Greece.

Prime Video shares poignant tribute to star killed in crash in new trailer for hit show
The new season is set to feature some major cameos from the main show Prime Video has unveiled a fresh glimpse at the second series of their near flawless superhero spin-off show including a tribute to a late star who died last year. The forthcoming instalment of Gen V is slated to arrive on the streaming platform later this year. From 17th September, new episodes of The Boys spin-off will be accessible. Season one boasts an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 97%, with one critic hailing it as 'simply extraordinary'. Now, fans have been given an even better sneak peek, with a significant cameo from one of the main show's cast members revealed, reports the Express. Gen V delves into the lives of students attending America's only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (supes) run by Vought International. The series probes the lives and moral boundaries of these students as they vie for the top ranking and a chance to join The Seven, Vought's elite superhero team as seen in The Boys. However, in the first series, the students begin to unearth the university's darkest and deepest secrets. The upcoming series of Gen V will introduce pivotal events and revelations that feed directly into the final chapter of The Boys. Its first three episodes premiere 17th September, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The trailer also appears to feature a poignant tribute to star Chance Perdomo, who tragically perished in a motorcycle accident before filming commenced at just 27 years old. The show's creators chose not to recast his character from the first series and completely rewrote the second season. In the fresh teaser, one character honours his role by declaring: "For Andre." According to the programme's synopsis, lessons resume just as the remainder of America adapts to Homelander's authoritarian grip, whilst back at Godolkin University, the enigmatic new Dean advocates a syllabus that vows to make pupils more formidable than ever before. Cate and Sam are hailed as heroes, whilst Marie, Jordan, and Emma grudgingly return to university, weighed down by months of psychological scars and bereavement. However, festivities and lectures become difficult to prioritise with conflict brewing between Humans and Supes, both within and beyond the campus grounds. The group discovers a clandestine programme dating back to Godolkin University's establishment that could have far more significant consequences than they comprehend. And Marie plays a crucial part in it. The second series features Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, London Thor as Jordan Li, Derek Luh as Jordan Li, Asa Germann as Sam Riordan, Sean Patrick Thomas as Polarity and Hamish Linklater as Dean Cipher. The preview, which debuted at San Diego Comic-Con, revealed a surprise appearance by beloved The Boys actor Chace Crawford who portrays The Deep and confirmed the casting of Wicked star Ethan Slater, who will become a main cast member. Also glimpsed in the trailer making a brief appearance is Erin Moriarty, who portrays Annie January, better known as Starlight. The programme faces considerable expectations following the first season's success, which garnered glowing critiques. One reviewer declared: " Prime Video's new series is just as brilliant as the original, and it's also a demonstration that the superhero genre still has a lot to say." Enthusiasts are already buzzing about what the guest appearances and special cameos could signify for both the spin-off and original programme. One fan wrote: " I like that 'Starlight is now canonically leading this underground resistance post President-Homelander. And I love that we're finally properly 'crossing over both shows!" Another commented: " Very cool to see Starlight and Noir." Whilst a third observed: "For Andre" hit hard. Chance Perdomo will be missed.". Gen V season two launches on Prime Video from September 17
