Air India completes inspections on Boeing 787-8 fleet
Fuel control switch checked, throttle control modules replaced. Separately, Air India has completed precautionary inspections on the Fuel Control Switch (FCS) mechanism of its Boeing 787-8 fleet. This move followed a directive issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on July 14. The airline has also carried out Throttle Control Module (TCM) replacements across the fleet in line with Boeing's prescribed maintenance schedule. The FCS is an integral component of the TCM.
In a communication to its pilots, the airline highlighted the need for continued vigilance, asking crew to report any issues through the Technical Log or the Coruson safety reporting tool.
'Please continue to remain vigilant and report any defect in the Technical Log, as per the existing reporting process. The Coruson tool is also available, should there be any concerns identified during operations,' the message stated.
Air India acknowledged the role of its engineering and flight teams, adding:
'Once again, thank you for your professionalism and commitment to safety.'

PM to virtually inaugurate Halwara airport civil terminal building on July 27; no word on flight operations yet
Nearly seven years after the Punjab government approved the project, with missing deadlines since 2018, the newly constructed Halwara airport civil terminal building will be inaugurated virtually via video-conferencing by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 27. Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said following a confirmation from the Airport Authority of India (AAI), preparations for the event have been commenced. The terminal has been constructed near the Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Halwara, Raikot sub-division in Ludhiana district, following a long pending demand of local residents for an 'international airport' in the district. Initially, the new terminal building is meant to cater just one domestic flight at a time, with a capacity of 150 passengers each for arrival and departure for a flight. While this building is set to be inaugurated on July 27, there is yet no confirmation on when flight operations would begin there. 'Neither we have any schedule on when flights would begin from the new terminal nor do we know which carrier would commence the first flight. It would probably be Air India, which might operate a flight to Delhi, but there is no confirmation yet. Some security permissions and other work are still pending. The building would be inaugurated on July 27, as per the schedule received from the Centre,' an official said, requesting anonymity. The official further said: 'A discussion to shift the lone FlyBig Ludhiana-Delhi flight, which currently operates from Sahnewal domestic airport, to the new Halwara terminal — following which Sahnewal facility will be closed permanently — is underway.' Addressing a press conference on the development works in Ludhiana on Friday, Punjab's Industries and Commerce, Investment Promotion and NRI Affairs Minister Sanjeev Arora said PM Modi would inaugurate the new terminal building. MU issues physical marks cards to graduates
Mangaluru: Mangalore University has fulfilled the long-pending demand for physical marks cards for candidates who graduated under the National Education Policy-2020, where marks cards were issued digitally. PL Dharma, vice-chancellor, and H Devendrappa, registrar (evaluation), said that after obtaining special permission from the higher education department and with the support of UT Khader, speaker of assembly, the university has met the demand for issuing physical marks cards. This announcement was made during the first general academic council meeting held on Friday. Dharma stated that marks cards were already sent to the respective colleges. A total of 13,517 marks cards for undergraduate students out of over 18,000 candidates were printed and issued. In the postgraduate section, a total of 1,637 marks cards were printed and issued. "Close to 5,000 undergraduate marks cards have not been issued due to errors in the data. We are trying to rectify this and issue them at the earliest. The data received from UUCMS contains errors," said Dharma, adding that the university is not charging for the issuance of mark cards. The issuance of physical marks cards will bring much-needed relief to graduates who faced inconvenience due to the digitally issued ones. Dharma mentioned that many graduates complained as they were unable to secure jobs or pursue higher education abroad. During the meeting, the revised syllabus of various courses, autonomous status for Mahatma Gandhi College, Udupi, revised sitting fees, travel allowances, and other allowances for syndicate members and officials were discussed. The cash-strapped university has increased the syndicate member sitting fee from Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000. Internal probe under progress for Belapu Mangalore University allegedly diverted about Rs 8.5 crore funds sanctioned for the development of the PG centre in Belapu in Udupi district. Instead of utilising the funds for the project, the university used them for an international hostel and other activities, violating the govt order. Dharma said that an internal inquiry in this regard is in progress. One report has already been submitted. "We still need at least Rs 12 crore to complete the Belapu project and have already spent about Rs 38.3 crore. We have planned to start unique courses, including one related to marine and coastal security," he said.

Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) councillors on Friday staged a sit-in protest at the corporation's head office in Navyug Market over hiked property tax notices to residents, even though the "board repealed the proposal". The hiked property tax came into effect on April 1. GMC officials, meanwhile, said the process of issuing notices is "system-generated". "If anyone has deposited a hiked property tax, it will be adjusted to older tax slabs," the GMC officials said. But the protesters are not convinced.
