Colorado drivers expected to take advantage of lower gas prices this holiday weekend
Regional Director of Public Affairs for AAA, Skyler McKinley, says getting gas now will be cheaper for your wallet than waiting for the weekend. Tuesday is the best time, as millions of people will be planning to fill up on Wednesday. This gives drivers a money-saving option, and there won't be as much traffic at the pump.
AAA says across the state, gas prices average $3.20/gallon. This is better than this time last year, when the average price was $3.34/gallon. AAA says never wait until the last minute or your car is close to empty to get gas.

Most of their calls are from stranded drivers who run out of gas. It's recommended to fill up your tank when you hit half. Anything less than that will put wear and tear on your vehicle, especially the engine.
Places like Costco and Sam's Club offer good gas perks, but for everyone else, it's recommended to go to the gas station closest to your home.
"Generally speaking, you are going to get the best deals on service stations that are tucked into a neighborhood. If you have a service station that is by your house that is not next to a major highway or a major thoroughfare, genuinely, they are going to be priced appropriately. Remember, gas is a very low margin game," said McKinley.
Remember to check your tires and batteries before any big road trip. You don't want to cause more traffic by breaking down in the middle of a highway.

CEO Lior Tal wrote in a letter to shareholders that the company brought in $32 million last week. That's also when Cyngn made headlines by striking a collaboration agreement with Nvidia (NVDA). Tal added that the firm's DriveMod autonomous vehicles are "now operating in warehouse aisles and across factory floors around the clock, delivering measurable improvements to safety, productivity, and labor costs." Tal said that Cyngn machines have been deployed at several new sites across industries in recent months, including manufacturing, automotive, logistics, and consumer-packaged goods. Tal explained that to keep up with demand, Cyngn has moved into a new, larger headquarters office in Mountain View, Calif. Tal noted that the deal with Nvidia to use the chipmaker's Isaac robotics platform "has helped us move faster." Despite today's 12% advance, Cyngn shares are down nearly 90% in 2025. Commenters agreed with the mechanic about the absurdity of the car's condition and even found some humor in the situation. So, Really Just an Oil Change? In the post, the mechanic says the driver only requested to have an oil change when serious issues were present under the car. The mechanic shows the problems that need to be addressed, and they're not pretty. To begin, the mechanic reveals how the car needs new tires, a transmission mount, a transmission, and a repair on a pipe with a hole. 'I don't need new tires. I don't need a new transmission mount. I don't need a new transmission. We can just put some J-B Weld on those,' the mechanic says, mocking the customer's opinion. When Should You Change Your Transmission? Transmission components are always mounted straight on the engine and the attached belt and gear system. Manual cars will have difficulty shifting gears, a clutch that slips, a grinding noise, or a burning smell when the transmission is shot. Automatic cars will buck and kick when trying to accelerate. The car may also have issues moving after putting the gearshift lever in Drive or another forward gear. Ignoring regular car maintenance will only create further issues down the road. Tesla sales fell sharply in Q2 as Musk backlash and competition chipped away at company's dominance
NEW YORK (AP) — Sales of Tesla electric cars fell sharply in the last three months as boycotts over Elon Musk's political views continue to keep buyers away, a significant development given expectations that anger with the company's billionaire CEO would have faded by now. The company reported a 13% plunge in sales on Wednesday in another sign that Musk's embrace of U.S. President Donald Trump and far-right politicians in Europe has had a deep and enduring hit to Tesla's brand appeal. The new figures also suggest that Tesla could disappoint when it announces second quarter earnings later this month. In the first three months of this year, net income fell 71%. Sales fell to 384,122 in April through June, down from 443,956 in the same period last year. During this period, Musk formally left the Trump administration as a cost-cutting czar and hopes rose that sales would recover. Sales of the Models 3 and Y totaled 373,728, above the estimate of 356,000 from Wall Street analysts. Tesla shares rose about 1.5% in early trading. Tesla is also facing stiff competition from other electric makers, especially in Europe where China's BYD has taken a bite out of its market share. Musk has acknowledged that his work as head of the Department of Government Efficiency and his embrace of European far-right candidates have hurt the company. But he attributed much of the sales plunge to customers holding off while they waited for new versions of Tesla's best selling Model Y, and recently predicted a major turnaround in sales. The new figures come as the company is focusing less on coming out with new models and more on robots, self-driving technology and robotaxis ferrying passengers around without anyone behind the wheel. Tesla is in the midst of a test run of robotaxis in Austin, Texas, that seems to have gone smoothly for the most part. But it also has drawn the scrutiny of federal car safety regulators because of a few mishaps, including one case in which a Tesla cab was shown on a widely shared video heading down an opposing lane.
