Man dies in head-on crash with lorry near Kuala Kangsar; four vehicles involved
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said in a statement today that the victim had been identified as Megat Muhammad Ikram Megd Adeni, 33, from Kampung Luat, Lenggong.
He said a call regarding the crash came through at 1.32pm, and seven minutes later, firefighters from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the crash site.
He said the accident involved the Proton Waja driven by Megat Muhammad Ikram, who was travelling from Kuala Kangsar towards Baling, Kedah, which is believed to have collided head-on with a two-tonne Daihatsu lorry.
'According to information from the public, the accident also involved two other vehicles, a Honda car and a Toyota Hilux,' he said.
Sabarodzi said the lorry driver and his assistant sustained minor injuries, while the woman driving the Honda car was unharmed.
However, the condition of the Toyota Hilux driver, who is believed to have proceeded to the nearest police station after the crash, remains unknown.
He said Megat Muhammad Ikram was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was handed over to the police.
Sabarodzi said the injured victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. The operation ended at 2.50pm. — Bernama

Following reports of superstitious and shirk-related activities at the grave of the late Nurly in Kampung Gong Pasir Muslim Cemetery, Kerandang, the family installed a rope barrier to prevent further misuse. The action was taken after some individuals were observed taking soil from the grave and applying it to their faces, which is considered an act of superstition and disrespect. The family also decided not to receive guests from last Wednesday (July 2) to give them space, especially for Nurly's parents, Azman Mohamad, 63, and Kamariah Abdul Latif, 60, to rest. Meanwhile, Kamariah, when met by reporters today, urged members of the public who wish to visit their home to view the handwritten Quran manuscript by her late daughter, once the visiting session reopens tomorrow, to observe the designated visiting hours, which are from 9 am to 6 pm. Bangladesh to cooperate fully with Malaysia in GMRB militant group investigation
KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 — Bangladesh has pledged full cooperation to Malaysian authorities following the arrest of 36 Bangladeshi nationals in a recent security operation targeting alleged involvement in the Bangladeshi Radical Militant Group (GMRB). The Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Ministry said that the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur promptly engaged with the relevant Malaysian authorities and formally requested the identities of the individuals as well as information regarding the allegations brought against them. Five of the individuals have been formally charged in Malaysian courts, while the rest are undergoing further investigation or deportation processes, the ministry said in a statement yesterday. "The Bangladesh government is closely monitoring the developments, and the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur is in close communication with the relevant Malaysian authorities and will extend necessary support to the expatriate Bangladeshis wherever needed,' it said. The ministry also reiterated Bangladesh's firm stance against all forms of terrorism, violent extremism, and militancy, reaffirming its commitment to cooperate fully with Malaysian authorities in this regard. Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail reportedly said that police initially detected the group's activities through social media accounts operated by Bangladeshi nationals using Malaysian IP addresses to spread IS ideology. Soldier reported missing during training found drowned
KUANTAN, July 6 — An army personnel who was reported missing while undergoing diving training at Kuantan Port here on Thursday was found drowned yesterday. Acting Kuantan district police chief Supt Mohd Adli Mat Daud said the body of Cpl Mohd Haswansir Julnasir, 30, was found by a team of divers at 10am yesterday morning. 'The victim's body was found on a rocky cliff about 300 metres from the location of the incident,' he said in a statement tonight. Mohd Adli said on July 3, his department received a report at 3.19pm regarding a military personnel missing while undergoing training at the port. It is understood that the victim was one of four divers undergoing training with the special forces. The three-day search and rescue operation for the victim involved various agencies including the police, Special Operations Group (GGK), Royal Malaysian Navy and the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department. — Bernama
