'College Football 26' trailer: EA Sports shows off gameplay, reveals new features ahead of July release date

Yahoo29-05-2025
After a decade-long absence, EA Sports revived its "College Football" franchise last year to strong reviews. Following that success, fans were eager to see what the company would do for an encore.
They got their first glimpse of that Thursday, as EA Sports released the first official trailer for "College Football 26."

The trailer, which is set to "Enter Sandman" by Metallica, shows off gameplay and teases the return of the popular "Stadium Pulse" feature.
Eagle-eyed viewers spotted a few new enhancements in that trailer, but it's main purpose was to build hype for the game, which releases July 10 for Playstation 5 and XBox Series X|S.
Fans hoping to get a full breakdown of new updates in the features in "College Football 26" didn't have to wait long, however, as EA Sports released a list of improvements and additions coming to this year's version of the game.
Those enhancements include:

Over 2,700 new plays, thousands of new athletes and 300 real-world coaches
Ten new player archetypes and abilities when recruiting players
The ability to dynamically deal with the game's fatigue system without pausing play
New AI enhancements, including improved blocking and coverages
Revamped "Stadium Pulse" system with new features, including clock distortion and extreme screen shake
Over 160 new school chants and new visuals showing off more school traditions
It's the second time in three days EA Sports has revealed new information about the game. The company revealed its cover athletes Tuesday. Alabama wideout Ryan Williams and Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith will be featured on the standard edition of the game. The pair will also appear on the deluxe cover, but will be surrounded by a number of players, mascots, legends and coaches on that cover.
While "EA Sports College Football 26" will be released July 10, fans have the ability to play it earlier. If fans preorder the "MVP Bundle," which includes "College Football 26" and "Madden 26," they will receive access to "College Football 26" on July 7. The MVP Bundle is listed at $149.99 on both the Playstation and XBox stores.

Texas' recruiting struggles could end tonight—will a four-star choose the Longhorns or South Carolina?

Texas' recruiting struggles could end tonight—will a four-star choose the Longhorns or South Carolina? originally appeared on A to Z Sports. Hough (N.C.) cornerback Samari Matthews will decide Friday between Texas, South Carolina, Florida State, and Miami on YouTube. As of this writing, recruiting analysts are predicting the Longhorns to receive good news. But things could potentially shift as the time to commit approaches. Advertisement Matthews is the the No. 70 overall prospect, the No. 9 cornerback, and the No. 6 recruit in the state of North Carolina, per Rivals' Industry Ranking. The 6-foot, 180 pound recruit was rarely tested in his junior season, finishing with 19 tackles and two interceptions. 247Sports' scouting analyst Clint Brewster evaluated Matthew in-person earlier this summer. The takeaways were eye-opening. Matthews qualifies as one of the top-tier cornerbacks in the class as a complete player that's checked boxes in terms of physical ability and testing metrics. Adequate height/weight/speed with ability to shell and mirror in both man coverage of zone situations. Stays lockstep both underneath and over the top with quick-reacting traits and physicality through contested catches. Pattern match skills that translates to the next level. Very technically sound and can read, drive, and finish. The type of cornerback that can matchup against bigger wide outs and hold his own. Doesn't get much action his way to show off ball skills and athleticism when the football is in the air. Projects as a Day-2 draft pick with multi-year starter potential for a an elite college team. - Clint Brewster, 247Sports View the original article to see embedded media. South Carolina is the biggest threat to Texas heading into Samari Matthews' announcement. On3's Wes Mitchell, South Carolina recruiting analyst, gave his thoughts on the head-to-head matchup this week. With the caveat that things can always change in recruiting, my expectation is that Cornelius (N.C.) Hough four-star cornerback Samari Matthews will pick Texas on Friday. It's gone, at least from the info I've gathered, from being something I thought was at least a possibility to being the expectation. While Texas did enter the game later than other schools that were in the mix, cornerbacks coach Mark Orphey was heavily involved with Matthews when he was at Rutgers, so there was a long-standing relationship here that predated the Longhorns officially getting involved. - Wes Mitchell, On3 The Longhorns only have two defensive back commits in the 2026 class so this one is big. Matthews is predicted by most to pick Texas this evening, but this commitment could go a lot further than just a checkmark in the commitment column. The recent struggles on the trail won't seem as bad if the talented prospect says "hook 'em" before the weekend starts. Disgraced Miami Booster Makes Admission About Placing Bounty on Tim Tebow

Disgraced Miami Booster Makes Admission About Placing Bounty on Tim Tebow originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Former Miami Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro doesn't blame fraud for being the reason why he was imprisoned. No, his 20-year sentence for a Ponzi scheme is the fault of former Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow. Advertisement 'I set a bounty on Tim Tebow and I think God made me pay for it by sending me to prison,' Shapiro said during a conversation with Anthony Mo Hasan last month. 'You know, I'm not kidding. I thought about this when I was locked up. Like, 'I wonder if that bounty I set on Tim Tebow … really cost me my freedom.' I didn't pay it out because we didn't collect. They didn't collect, but I set a bounty on him.' Shapiro put a target on Tebow, at the time the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, during Miami's battle with the eventual BCS national champion Gators in 2008. If Randy Shannon's defense was trying to hurt the famed Florida passer, it was to no avail. Tebow went 21 for 35 for 256 yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air. He ran through the Hurricanes' defense for 55 yards on 13 carries, as well. Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow (15) looks to throw against the Florida State Seminoles during the second quarter at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida© John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports 'I'll never go his route, his way again,' Shapiro said. 'That was it, man. I went away for 10 years. I think it's because of that. … I'm glad I didn't put a bounty on (Aaron) Hernandez. He might've came back for me in real life." Advertisement Worth noting, Hernandez reeled in five passes for 58 yards and a 14-yard touchdown on the Gators' first possession. Miami finished that season with a 7-6 mark, part of a 13-year stretch in which the Hurricanes failed to win at least 10 games during a single season.
